I have a laptop and a smart phone and I super love my ipad. I imagine being deployed it would be great for him! I use mine at work, traveling, and even when I'm at home and also on my laptop and smartphone. He'll love it. Don't fret.

It really depends on the guy. My honey has an iPhone and a laptop, but he plays on his iPad more.
Surely he will appreciate that you are thinking so much about him!

I am sure he would love it, especially since he has mentioned wanting one. Maybe to make it extra special have it loaded with a set of photos of you.

Just giving you a hard time. Coming from someone who had an iPhone, Laptop and iPad, I never used my iPad unless I was traveling.
Well he is deployed and only uses his laptop to play computer games on. But Im hoping he will be able to use an iPad.. He mentioned he wanted one over the summer but now I don't know..

I hear deployment, I think sand, I think not good for brand new electronics...

Edited to add, yes, I know not all deployments involve sand, but my husband did two tours in the middle east, along with many of our friends, so it's my first thought.

And a personalized case for it for Christmas, would you be happy?
Even if you already have an iPhone and a laptop..

I'm second guessing my Christmas gift for my man.

Where can I find someone like you?

Personally, I'd be thrilled! He's deployed, so if FaceTime or Skype is an option, the bigger screen means bigger YOU which would have to make the calls that much better. I've got an iPhone and an iPad, and I have moved most of my print subscriptions and books to the iPad. The iPhone is way too small to read on, but the iPad is more than acceptable. Games are also a totally different experience. And those pictures you send him? He will love being able to see them that much better! If he's into gadgets, he will love it. And you! Go for it! :)

I use my iPad over my laptop. I never turn on my computer any more. So, I guess it depends on the person. iPads rock. I would do all your favorite bad things to you for a month if you bought me an iPad.

I've got a Galaxy Player (basically an iPod but Android) and a Netbook, and I still use my iPad A LOT. The Galaxy is handy for a lot of things, BUT when it comes to reading websites and such, I MUCH prefer the iPad. It is way more convenient than a laptop or Netbook. No waiting for booting, and just easier to manage in a lap. I think it would be great!

I got one and it's a great gift. Skip the personalization, though, it means you can't return it and the resale value is lower.
  • If he doesn't want it my address is......

I' d love it! I have a Galaxy tablet (about 2 years old) and do a lot of reading on it when I'm working out... wish I could afford the Ipad because it looks like it would be easier to read (less page turning). ;)

    LOL @ Neverstray and Sick_Beard
  • I have an iPhone and iPad and love it. My hubby has an iPhone and purchased him the newest iPad. If the person doesn't like the gift it's their bad. It's the thought that counts. It's like having your personal computer where ever u go in a bigger screen compared to the iPhone.

my husband bought me an ipad for christmas when they first came out...I am in LOVE with my ipad..it's my best friend :) lol. I have a computer at the house but the ipad is in use way more. I can be mobile with it, take it outside and sit on the porch. I use it on the treadmill as well as it has netflix and my own movies I've put on. I also have over seven hundred books downloaded on it! I have 3 boys who also use my ipad and they LOVE it too. I don't know what I would do without it :) haha. My husband would have to replace it right away!

I would be happy to be given a new ipad, i love my iphone and my apple TV, kinda negates the need for an ipad now that i have apple TV, but if i didn't i would be all over that gift! i'm an apple nerd tho!

If he doesn't love it, then just sell it and get him something else, although considering hes mentioned it to you and the effort you have gone to with personalising it, i cant imagine any guy not loving it.

If he expressed interest, he'll love it.

It's quite versatile and really he'll get out it whatever he wants from it.

Having a phone and a laptop doesn't intrinsically negate having an ipad. They are different enough to have their own niches.

Hubby and I went through several deployments and I guarantee he'll be so thrilled and all his buddies will be jealous. As a special addition, if you set it up before you ship it out to him, you can always add a 'naughty' photo/video album to surprise him when he starts playing with it :)

Only the case is personalized. Not the ipad itself. I didn't get it engraved because it would be covered by the case anyways.

I'm from a special breed of women. The kind that spoils the crap out of their men and ask for nothing in return.

He mentioned he wanted one and being delayed he will have a lot of use for one. I'd say it is a good gift. I am debating an IPad mini, or whatever they are called, for my husband. Or just an iPad. I have on and he has said a few times he wants to get one.
