Do you typically have a different kind of whey/shake for breakfast or do you usually have food you eat instead of drink? For me, drinking is much less satisfying than eating something. It could be the same amount of calories and even very similar ingredients but it wasn't last as long. So no on the protein part, but yes on the shake part.0

I felt the same way when I used the whey protein powder by Jillian Michaels. But because I don't eat breakfast, I didn't want to give up on my breakfast shakes. So, after looking around a bit, I saw a powder called Pure Protein and it has 25g of protein, where Jillian's only had 14g. I started using it and found that I stayed fuller longer and with drinking water throughout the morning, I was able to make it to lunchtime without feeling starved. This one evens states it on the label that it helps to sustain your appetite longer. I like it! I have attached the link from Amazon, so that you can see what it looks like, but I get it from Walmart and it only costs $20, you use one scoop and it lasts me for awhile and I drink a shake everyday. It comes in Chocolate too, but I use Vanilla because it blends better with any flavored shake you may be making.

I have only done a shake one time and that was a few days ago. I purchased the Jillian Michael's triple chocolate powder, only because it was cheap at Wal-mart. I made a chocolate rasberry shake, it was the BOMB!!! I used a half a cup of non-fat yogurt, a half of banana, a half a cup of no soy coconut milk, two scoops of powder and a half a cup of no sugar added frozen raspberries in my blender with some ice!! OMG!!! it was so GOOD and I was full for several hours afterwards!! I plan on having shakes for breakfast, since I usually don't have time for breakfast.0

Me! Mine has 30g of protein and it still leaves me hungry (although it keeps me full for a little bit since it makes me sick to my stomach). I rarely have it for breakfast, but it leaves me hungry after workouts.0

I always have my breakfast protein shake with a single low fat buscuit (cookie). The buscuit is a rich tea light (30 calories) and is more to put my mind at rest that i've eaten something! i know it sounds weird but im more of a textures eater, i enjoy the texture of food and my mind associates food intake with textures.0

I only do whey protein right after a workout (which I do in the evenings). I need food for breakfast.0

I don't think a protein shake is a good way to feel full in general0
-
Vanilla 30g protein is my post-workout in the evening half-scoop with 1 c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I have never had it as a meal replacement. I need something with texture for a meal.0

Ingesting protein BEFORE and after increases protein synthesis in muscles.0 -
I have my whey protein shakes in the morning for breakfast. I add 1/2 a banana and some organic peanut butter to kick it up just a bit. It tends to keep me full all morning.0

I was doing the GNC LEan shakes for break fast previously and I was good. With these not so much.0 -
I get hungry after a shake pretty quickly if I don't add something to it. But I don't only use shakes as meal replacement, sometimes as a quick snack. Here is what I had for my breakfast shake:
2 scoops Jillian Michaels Triple Chocolate Shake
1 cup frozen strawberries (no sugar added)
1 Tablespoon sugar free jello chocolate pudding powder
I dissolve the protein and pudding in a little water, add fruit, and fill to max fill line with water (in a one serving blender). It's actually pretty filling. I had it at about 8:00 this morning, and will be having lunch in about 30 minutes (it's 11:30am now) and I don't feel anymore hungry than I usually do a half hour before lunch.

If you want a shake for breakfast it needs to be a meal replacement shake not just a protein shake, they Re not designed as a meal0

Thank you to all that responded. My previous shakes wer listed a meal replacement and I now know that this is not what the Whey Protein is. I went to the Vitamin Shoppe, told the clerk what I was looking for and he said this was the best product for the job. After all the input ive recieved I now understand that it was not what I needed and it explains why im still hungry after a shake. Now I have a new question as to how to use it properly so it doesnt go to waste?!0

i use shakes to kill my hunger, the sweetness and the fact its protein keeps me pretty happy for a long time.0

EAT! Have some Oatmeal, Whole wheat toast, SOMETHING! YOu don't need to be HANGRY!!!0 -
I do protein shakes with some oatmeal and it is pretty satisfying. Depending on the brand/recipe, the shakes I make are between 225 and 275 calories, and I usually eat about 150 calories of oatmeal. If not oatmeal, sometimes I have a slice of whole grain bread and a tablespoon of peanut butter.0

I feel hungrier after any food. That's why I IF.0
