after burning 1100 calories exercising today i find that i still have around 650 left in the green. as it heads towards 9pm im thinking that a full meal probably isnt necessary, but is it healthy to leave that much of a deficit? or should i head to the shop and buy something nice and sugary?

What did you do to burn that much?0

Leave it. Don't just eat for the sake of it0
-
If it was me, I'd eat a lot of peanut butter or cheese!0

And if it's an accurate burn then...If it was me, I'd eat a lot of peanut butter or cheese!0 -

Whole wheat crackers with brie and grapes - yum0 -
I wouldn't make a special trip to the market just because I had left over cals. If you don't have anything around the house, just leave it.0
-
I have around that much left to eat too (and it's the same time of day)
I'm planning on some broccoli cheese (homemade cheese sauce = great for calories!) and a protein shake!0 -
Yeah, I don't think it's necessary to go out and buy something to eat. That said, if you don't eat them you will probably be starving tomorrow. Feel free to use them tomorrow. Peanut butter and cheese would be high on my list as well. Or ice cream.0

earlier today i did a quick 3k run and then walked for 8k. tracked using endomondo on my phone...
i've been assuming its accurate but now im not so sure, haha.
loving the peanut butter or cheese idea!0 -
I jus dont understand WHY people eat when you arent hungry?? Isnt that what got a lot of you here in the first place??
Spread it out over a couple of days.. besides.. ONE day of being dipped down low calories isnt going to harm you.. i just did a half day fast and its GOOD for you!!
one day of dipping into your reserves isnt going to throw you into starvation mode.. Your calories dont reset every 24 hours just because MFP says it does.. so spread it out over the next few days and eat over, if you are so worried about it. No need to stress and eat all of those calories in one day..
and sugar snacks? WHY would you do that? All that will cause is a crash later on, you to sleep horribly, and cravings tomorrow.
Just my 2 cents.0 -

I doubt you burned that much0 -
My favorite end-of-day snack/meal is a peanut butter and jelly sammich with a glass of whole milk.0

thanks for your two cents! :]
it made me smile because youre so passionate, and i love that!
i just used three different calorie calculators and they all came out around the same figure, so im happy with that0 -
Compare today's intake to your TDEE....0
-
Don't eat just to eat. If you're hungry, then eat.0
-
If it's a trend, try to add small things throughout the day. If you don't net your TDEE, it is my understanding that your metabolism could slow down. I've started to add a few things here and there - like an apple in the late morning or early afternoon or avocado on my usual sandwich.0

Leave it. Or, drink a bottle of wine.0

Try to eat SOME of them back...cheese, peanut butter, avocados, nuts...all calorie dense small snacks to get some protein in before bed so your body can recover and build muscle. Also, invest in a HRM to see if you REALLY are burning that many calories. I burn about 400-500 in a 3-4 mile run.0
-
hmm... my TDEE is just under 2800 and i have consumed 2200...
i dont actually think im hungry anymore with all this discussion and doubt haha.
might just have a cup of tea instead!0 -
Sounds like time for cake0

having looked at your ticker, it seems that i weigh almost twice as much as you, so i think i might burn more calories doing the same activity. unless im completely missunderstanding how that works of course!
ive been wrong before0 -
It depends on what kind of calories you burned. If you did an intense strength-training routine, I'd encourage you to eat the calories back. For a cardio work-out, though, it's up to you.0

This isn't speaking for everyone by no means But the one thing I do is eat something every two hours. Whether it be fruit or yogurt or something. It is very useful for someone like me whose metabolism is so slow. Doing this helps to increase the metabolism. I usually eat breakfast at 8 PM, a small snack at 10, lunch at noon, a small snack at 2 PM and 4PM, dinner at 6 PM (have to do that due to work schedule), and then another snack at 8 PM. I do this whether I am hungry or not. I limit my snacks to 50 to 100 calories each. Most times though my calories don't go over 100 to 200 total for the day. I did have one day my snacks were 304. But, I eat a lot of fruit that day.
I always have calories left at the end of the day. I was worried about it at first. But, I finally quit worrying about it. I am averaging 1200 to 1800 calories a day in my eating. By the time I add my work outs in, I am usually needing to eat over 1,000 calories more0 -
Hungry? Then eat. Not hungry? Then don't. Or eat a bigger something tomorrow. Or have a drink.0

It's fine to "bank it" and perhaps eat more on a different day.0 -
