650 calories left at the end of the day..

Leave it...you might need them later in the week or even on the weekend0

Try to eat SOME of them back...cheese, peanut butter, avocados, nuts...all calorie dense small snacks to get some protein in before bed so your body can recover and build muscle. Also, invest in a HRM to see if you REALLY are burning that many calories. I burn about 400-500 in a 3-4 mile run.
having looked at your ticker, it seems that i weigh almost twice as much as you, so i think i might burn more calories doing the same activity. unless im completely missunderstanding how that works of course!
ive been wrong before
Yes, could be you burn more. Didn't look at your stats.
But, I would still check your calorie burn. HRM's are cheap, and it's worth it to know exactly how much you're burning. I noticed as I got in better shape, it took longer to burn as many calories. The web sites and phone apps don't account for that.0 -
I jus dont understand WHY people eat when you arent hungry?? Isnt that what got a lot of you here in the first place??
Spread it out over a couple of days.. besides.. ONE day of being dipped down low calories isnt going to harm you.. i just did a half day fast and its GOOD for you!!
one day of dipping into your reserves isnt going to throw you into starvation mode.. Your calories dont reset every 24 hours just because MFP says it does.. so spread it out over the next few days and eat over, if you are so worried about it. No need to stress and eat all of those calories in one day..
and sugar snacks? WHY would you do that? All that will cause is a crash later on, you to sleep horribly, and cravings tomorrow.
Just my 2 cents.
^^ This right heeer!0 -
First, to those saying you doubt he burned that much, running 6 miles can burn very well over that much for some, depending on weight. My husband burns almost 700 calories running 3 miles (5k). Just because you don't burn that much doesn't mean everyone can't burn that much.
Second, to the OP, If you're not hungry, don't worry about it. If you want a snack, eat a snack! As someone mentioned earlier, peanut butter works wonders for increasing calorie intake.0 -
If it's a trend, try to add small things throughout the day. If you don't net your TDEE, it is my understanding that your metabolism could slow down. I've started to add a few things here and there - like an apple in the late morning or early afternoon or avocado on my usual sandwich.
TDEE is your maintenance calorie needs. If you truly net your TDEE you will neither gain nor lose weight.0 -
I'm having the same problem today.Peanut butter sounds good.
I keep stuffing and starving atm. One day I'll eat over 3000 calories and the next I can barely fit in 2000.
Is this bad for my metabolism or should I just go with the flow and listen to my body?
p.s. Sorry for hijacking your post...0 -
I would check that calorie burn result, it's not accurate.
I run 6 miles, 3 times a week, then a longer run on Saturdays, but even then that's only about 750 calories a run.
For for idea of something to eat that late in the day, try some fresh fruit or low fat cottage cheese to get rid of the hunger feeling, then start off your next day back on your diet and work out routine.0 -

im pleased you have found a more accurate way than me of recording calories, but again, im thinking that because im heavier than you i probably burn more.
im currently a whopping 233lb0 -

OP - if you're hungry, eat something with protein. If not, then just leave the calories since you might have a day where you want to eat a bit more. I always look at my weekly calories, not my daily calories, for that very reason.
Also, you won't go into starvation mode from one freaking day, so don't worry about that. True starvation mode happens to thin people who are under a certain body mass. Unfortunately, that term gets tossed around MFP loosely and irresponsibly. Google some medical journals and read about it. It won't kill you to go under 1200 calories on occasion, despite what all the bro-science posters tell you.0 -

I can burn about 400 in an hour on the treadmill, so you
don't sound too far off. As long as your walk gets your heart
rate up. I walk about 4 MPH, and it gets my heart rate up.
Last 5k, I was walking faster than a lot of people jogging. :laugh:0 -

A 150 lbs man burns about 100 calories per mile running and 65 walking. Adjust according to your weight, it is fairly accurate.
233/150=155 cal per mile running, 100 cal per mile walking.
3X155/1.6=290
8X100/1.6=500
So you burned 790 cal.
But to answer your question - yes it healthy not to eat your workout.0 -
thanks for your replies people :]
for the record, ive resisted the urge to reach for some booze and plumped for a peanut butter and banana sandwich :drinker:0 -

I would never have guessed your weight! You look very slender in the face. I'm so jealous as I gain first in the face.
As for the 650 kcal, without the hunger, I'd probably have something I REALLY liked, but not right up to 650kcal, necessarily. I had a short time with this problem last summer, so built protein balls into the day. The problem I find though is that if I have a few really high days in a row, when I wasn't even hungry, I find it hard to return to my normal intake.0 -

Yum. And I'll bet the next time, you'll make this decision on your own :laugh:0 -

Your also 17 years older and weigh about 50 lbs less then OP but cool story bro.
Seriously the calorie burn trolls on here are super annoying. Not saying you inperticular since its obv your first post but there's clowns on here that live off jumping into threads to tease them about not burning as many cals as they think they did.
My advice, set your cals a 200-300 over your daily count that MFP gives you and dont eat back any of your exercise cals. Has worked fine for me and I've cut almost 100lbs in 7 months. Good luck!0 -

earlier today i did a quick 3k run and then walked for 8k. tracked using endomondo on my phone...
i've been assuming its accurate but now im not so sure, haha.
loving the peanut butter or cheese idea!
I doubt you burned that much
I agree with you. I would have to run 10 miles to burn that much. 1 1/2 mile run and a 5 mile walk wouldn't be close to 1000 calories, even if I was a bit heavier. That would burn about 400 at the most for me.
So if Fitbit, bicycle computer, Polar FT7, and mapmyride all give me approx the same answer and I choose the lowest number. Then how do I figure out how much I burned?0 -
I would go have a piece of pie and a chocolate shake.0

Disagree
Actually, I believe there was some research recently completed that shows high carb before bed negatively affects sleep quality. (Note, for anyone who wants to jump on the "bad to eat before bed" bandwagon, this was specifically for carbs and specifically for sleep quality, not weight. Protein and fat did not have the same negative effects.) Sorry, no cite as I heard it on the radio and haven't confirmed it yet.0
