Don't tell me what my goal is
Exactly. Or how much to be happy when I achieve them.
I think you may have missed the point of this. Or maybe you didn't read the entire thing.0 -

I just read your latest blog post. It sounds a lot like me when I joined MFP, and like the kind of people OP is describing. Obviously I can't know you from a few blog entries, just an observation.
I really should delete that blog, I'm in a different place right now. The OP said I won't be happy with my weight loss - I am very happy, I'm skinny and I love it. I have new goals now and I am very happy with them too. I don't torture myself, it took a few runs to get into the shape after an injury but now I love every minute of it, I run with huge grin on my face and eagerly wait my next run. The only torture I'm subjecting myself to, is limiting my mileage to prevent injury. The truth about weight loss and fitness is that when your reach your goal you'll be overjoyed and will rock that body all day, every day ! I am that skinny guy that moves at 7 mph and neither you nor the OP can convince me to stop being happy about it !0 -

I didn't say you would not be happy. And you may have missed my comment about the experience likely being a lot different for men and women.0 -

Nobody is trying to convince you to stop. That's awesome that you're in a better place and you're happy with your body, everyone should feel that. This topic wasn't meant for you then.0 -

This is the best thing I've read in awhile and just what I needed. Although, I do agree, that 'just stop' is not always achievable. Your mind can do funny things to you and you can't just stop certain things.0

Thank you for posting this. It was beautiful and I loved reading it!
I think it's so incredibly true too. I know that we are all here with the goal of losing weight and becoming healthier, but it is important to take a step back and realize that we are still amazing people how we are right now. I know that the number on the scale does not define who I am. Do I get excited when I step on the scale and the number drops or when I put on my pants and they feel a little looser? Of course I do, but I also know that even without those things happening I am a great person. I also agree that people need to focus more on the positives and not the negatives of this journey. Don't talk about all of the weight you need to lose still or what you did wrong this week, instead focus on what you did right and what you have already accomplished. Looking on the bright side of life leaves you feeling so much happier and satisfied with yourself! I encourage everyone to find the silver lining in things.0
