Hi guys, so I limit myself to 1200 calories a day, I was eating only fruit, veg and chicken and turkey and half pint skimmed milk a day for hot drinks.
I didn't realise vegetables have carbs in them, my question is eating these everyday totalling around 90g a day will that make me gain weight? I don't touch any other carbs. Also I noticed my sugar intake was rather high and realised that was from eating so much fruit. I didn't realised how much sugar I was consuming from the fruit. Can I gain weight from that type of sugar from fruit? Iv lost weight and feel I'm not losing anymore. I'm not eating fat, or white carbs just veg lean meat and iv cut down on fruit. Any advice pleaseeeeee
Thank you xxx

Weight gain is caused from eating more calories than you expend, regardless of macronutrients.0 -
As long as you are eating less calories than you are using you will lose weight. There is nothing wrong with carbs unless you have some other issue with them other than thinking they are making you fat. Carbs don't make you fat. Fat doesn't make you fat. Eating more than you use makes you fat.0

-Sugars from fruit is okay, unless you are a diabetic.
-Carbs from veggies is okay, Carbs are not evil.
-Fat - your body needs healthy fats, fats are not all evil.0 -
What Sidesteel said.
Eat whatever you want. Try to make good choices 80% of the time. Indulge every now and then. Exercise if you want to. Stay under your calorie goal (and eat back your exercise cals). Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.0 -
I eat a plant based diet, which is almost all fruits and veggies. I eat around 300g of carbs a day, and I have lost 110 pounds in just over 8 months. Carbs are not evil, and veggies are your friend. You are not going to gain weight just because you eat veggies0

Your body needs carbs, the carbs in fruits and veggies are good for you, the ones in bread are bad. Without carbs you will find yourself eating a lot more to stay full, thats where you get burned! Eat as many fruits and veggies as you want, limit everything else!0

There's a reason different natural (and man-made) food items contain a mix of carbs, proteins and fats. Your body needs them to fuel the different processes that occurs in it on the daily.
Check out what Sidesteel and Lora have said. That's solid advice.0 -

I agree with everything you said except for all of it0 -
I have a tendency to eat lower carb myself but you have to keep in mind that there is no such thing as a no carb, no fat diet. You'd be eating nothing but extremely lean protein and no one can survive on that for long. Literally, people die from eating nothing but protein. Even Atkins, which is low carb has you eating SOME amount of carbs every day, most of it from vegetables.
90 grams of carbs per day is a good amount, IMHO, although others will tell you that it doesn't matter at all. There are some of us, however, who just can't lose weight eating too many carbs. Stick to leafy greens and green veggies and lean meats and cheese and you should be just fine.0 -
I was especially interested in the part where he said if you eat a lot of rabbit you should balance it out by eating beaver.0 -

Eating no fat AND no carbs... I feel like you'd just want to sleep all the time.
I would try low carb, high fat. you have to get your energy from somewhere.
plus, in my personal opinion, 1200 calories is just going to ruin your metabolism.0 -

You need the carbs the carbs from veggies are fine just watch the bread rice and pasta
Moderation is key not deprivation -- find a balance in order to achieve successful weight loss
I've done similar diet regimens but it Only leads to disappointment
Eat balanced meals and make healthy choices ( you may cut back on your carbs but mainly the bad ones)0 -

I read a post yesterday that basically said "bad carbs" like bread will make your brain function abnormally.
HA - I guess I'm on the fast track to crazy town.0 -

This is an exert from New Rules Of Lifting for Women. I do not own any rights to this book.
"NEW RULE #13 • Traditional weight-loss advice is fatally flawed
Traditional weight-loss advice: “Eat less and exercise more.” You’ve heard it more times than you can remember. I’ve heard it, too, but being male, I have a magical ability to filter out half the equation. I’ll hear “Exercise more,” and develop a strategy for that. If men like me hear “Eat less,” it usually means “Eat a salad instead of a microwave burrito.” And even that is usually too much dietary discipline to expect from my gender.
But let’s get back to you, and take a closer look at “Eat less and exercise more.” I hope I’ve convinced you by now that “Eat less” is a formula for slowing down your resting metabolic rate. And “Exercise more” is a way to increase your metabolic rate.
The combination, however, can be expressed this way: Slow down your metabolism while speeding it up.
Does that sound reasonable? If a financial advisor told you to run up your credit cards while putting away money in a savings account, would you take that advice? Or would you get out of his office as fast as you possibly could, employing both of your anaerobic energy systems? Would you say to your employees that you want them all to start working longer hours, and as a reward, you’re going to pay them less? If you made that announcement on Friday, would anyone show up on Monday?
To put it into a political context, it’s the equivalent of “I voted for it before I voted against it.”
It is, to put it as simply as I can, illogical.
The reward of eating less is that you have to eat even less as you lose weight and your metabolism slows down. I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine that I’d be happy if all I got out of starving myself down to a smaller waist size is that I got to experience even deeper levels of starvation."0 -
Carbs are fine - just keep them in a good proportion to everything else (Proteins, Fat) while making sure you are under your calorie goal. Out vs In - truly is that simple...0

On that note one of the people who occasionally inboxes me for dietary advice told me that her doctor advised her to eliminate all bread, pasta, and white carbs despite her losing weight just fine while including those items and with no medical reason to eliminate them. Makes me want to punch my monitor.0 -

I wait with anticipation, I read with great amusement, and I thank you for making the forum more enjoyable with your wit. That is all. Everything else on here gives me a headache also. :happy:0 -
A friend of mine got a hell of a deal on a '64 Corvette because it had a bad carb. The guy selling it didn't know what was wrong with it. My friend got it cheap and then rebuilt the carb and it ran perfectly. Sometimes bad carbs can result in good things.0
