SKIN SAGGING, STRECH MARKS???

Im sorry, I know you hate them, but calling them "ugly" stretch marks is a bit rude... Almost 90% of women will get stretch marks at some point of their life regardless if its from teen growth spurts, weight gain, or pregnancy.
it could have been worded differently. I got really deep red ones when I was pregnant. but I get why she hates them.
Yep, definitely agree. 100% of people who get stretch marks will hate them, male/female, pregnant/not, overweight/losing weight. Its one of those things that really suck, but happens.
So far there is nothing out there that will completely get rid of them. There is things that will fade them, but nothing to promise anything better than that. Unfortunately that is something ppl deal with.0 -

Um, your statistics are off, because I don't hate my stretch marks. I don't really care either way about my stretch marks. They're there, there's nothing I can do about them, and a whole lot of people have them, so why worry about them?0 -

Yes, please adjust your statistics. I happen to think stretch marks are cute.0 -
Back to the OP.
You are 21 with not much to lose - it is highly unlikely you will have any sagging skin. I have lost more than you are loosing to lose and have no skin issues and I am more than twice your age. My advice - do it slowly - aim for no more than 1lb a week and you will have no problems.
Re stretch marks - they will not be cause by losing the weight. If you do not have any now, there is no reason for you to have them when you lose weight.
ETA: I would highly recommend to incorporate some strength training into your routine if you do not already do so.0 -

Yes, I was exaggerating. With anything there is exceptions. But the vast majority of women are not happy (and men) with stretch marks. So far there is nothing to completely rid you of stretch marks. I agree to 'try' not to worry about them, but unfortunately human nature usually means picturing stretch marks as flaws.0 -
since you're still young, your skin is able to recover itself over time. if you already have stretch marks they won't go away but most people don't even notice them, plus they are really common among heaps of people in puberty anyway. loose skin will probably happen if you have over 30 pounds to lose, but would you rather hold on to your fat and feel uncomfortable or be toned and fit and have some loose skin and stretch marks? if you walk around boasting a toned bod no one is going to notice some loose skin, only you they should be the least of your worries darl xx
Sorry, but I beg to differ about the skin. I have lost a total of 50lb (most since being on here), and more than twice the OP's age and have no loose skin whatsoever. It is not likely at all for a 21 year old to have it with the amount she has to lose.0 -

Sorry... An exaggeration... not trying to make REAL statistics.
ETA: Im happy to see people unhappy with my 100% statistic. Ive been unhappy with my stretch marks for years and have only ever heard of other people unhappy with theirs too, so Im glad to finally see people who have accepted theirs. I hope to be that content with mine too.0 -
Everyone is different. Do it the right way, eat less, move more, do cardio and strength training and you should be fine. If not, there is always surgery.0

Have you asked the vast majority of people, though, or are you just going by what the media tells you?
And I don't "try", I literally don't care. I don't look at any of my scars (stretch marks included) as flaws, I see them as evidence that I've lived.0 -
Alot of times what people confuse as saggy skin is still excess fat. Excess skin is paper thin. It can take up to a year after losing alot of weight to tighten up. With the amount of weight the OP has to lose & given her age I doubt it will be an issue. As for stretch marks they are from the skin stretching too fast. Not from losing. They don't go away but will fade with time.0

Is your caps lock broken? I couldnt even read your post without thinking you are yelling... Yikes.

I actually view my stretch marks as a trophy. They are the battle scars I have earned..... by giving life to 3 beautiful children and carrying my disease of obesity that I am now losing. If someone is going to judge me for my stretch marks alone.... I dont think I need to consider their judgement important as they haven't made an opinion based on me as a whole.

I wasnt saying that people think stretch marks on other people are unattractive. Lots of the time people just dont like them on themselves. Ive always been self conscious of mine and when they're visible its like I think everyone notices them, but they dont, or maybe they do, but Im sure they dont care.
Anyways, Ive tried lots of different products, got a couple microdermabrasion done a couple times, but that was pricey, so now Ive stopped at using a dermaroller and emu oil, and thats the best thing Ive found so far.0 -
Hey girl. I am an aspiring fitness model I began my weight loss 4 years ago at age 20 and have lost 84 lbs. I am 5'6 and weigh 114lbs at only 11% body fat! I have no problem with saggy skin or stretch marks, even though I did have stretch marks to begin with they have shrunk so now they are nearly invisible. I did get to a point in weight loss around 120 when I noticed my muscles weren't as obvious as they should be for my body fat percentage. I learned that doing strenuous cardio every day (running for an hour) wasn't giving me definition, but as soon as I began to lift weights (not light weights either) the problem was fixed within a couple months! I think it's awesome you have the personal dedication to undertake weight loss it's not easy but it's worth every minute you put into it! Good luck!0

Don't worry about skin. Deal with it if it's a problem when it's a problem. The only people that I have talked to that have had any problem with it are gastric bypass patients, and it's from losing so quickly. Most people lose at a slow enough rate where it's not an issue. Remember that your skin is not just a covering- it's an actual organ. It has amazing recovery capabilities. I've lost almost 90 lbs. in a year, and every time I thought I might have some extra skin, it turned out to just be more fat that I needed to lose.

thanks, i jus saw you lost around 97lbs m so inspired by that
did you ever get any stretch marks or skin sag problem ???
The only stretch marks I got were from growth spurts in my teen years when I was skinny and from pregnancies. "Stretch" marks are from your skin "stretching", not from losing weight. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it is possible to get stretch marks from losing weight. At some points, my stretch marks did seem to deepen while I was losing, but then my skin adjusted/tightened back up and they were the same again. Just my white tiger stripes. And no, even while losing nearly 90 lbs, I've never had my skin really "sag". Like I said before, any time it seemed like maybe it was saggy, I realized that I just needed to lose more fat instead of using the saggy excuse. I've seen a lot of people basically claim that they're ripped, it's just that they have all this "loose skin" covering it up. Are there people with loose skin out there? Sure. But they are few and far between. You will be just fine.0
