Poochy belly? help plz

Okay, so I'm about 30lbs from my goal weight but I've lost a lot of weight in my midsection but the poochy belly from is refusing to just let go. I took a side profile today and I was so excited to see the definition in my side/ribs...whatever and then that was quickly deflated when I saw the pooch....:/ so what are your secrets, what did you do to beat the bulge?

    Diet
    Cardio
Core engaging exercises (planks, squats, lunges, push ups)
specific ab exercies (leg lifts, mason twists, bicycle, pulses)
  • You can't spot reduce. Keep losing fat and it'll come off eventually. Lifting heavy is something you might want to look at though if you aren't doing it already.

No pooch here...but I have gone form the Keg to the 8-Ball...

Diet is the greatest factor....but you must have the muscle to show .... the above is key.

depends on why the pooch is there. It may never completely go. Just keep the diet and core exercises, cardio going and hope. Mine is improved but I am trying to accept it may never go

I would say it's diet related. Some people are skeptical about the "Wheat Belly" findings, but when I avoid bread products of any kind, my pooch goes down. This isn't the gluten that I'm talking about. But there are so many foods that cause bloating, so take a picture of your tummy in the morning before you eat or drink, then take a picture at night and compare the difference. If they are about the same, then it's probably fat; if they are very different then chances are you're bloated from the foods you're eating.

Personally I would. You dont have become a marathon runner, but the cardio will burn fat while the strength training will tone and define your muscles. Maybe 30 min of cardio 2-3x per week - try it and see. YOu have nothing to lose but the pooch! :)

I had a baby back in 2010 and he was delivered via c-section. i think that's supposed to make it harder to lose the pooch if I'm not mistaken

You're not a wuss. That's a perfectly good place to start. Push yourself, you might be surprised how much more you could do.

Some one once told me that abs are made in the kitchen :) and its true! Sure, you have to have muscles there, but you also need the fat gone on your belly to see them

Unfortunately, you can't reduce fat in certain places on your body.. Keep eating healthy and within your calorie goal and they will eventually come out :)

wow, great idea. I'll totally try it. I've been consuming A LOT of fiber lately...too the point where I was sooo uncomfortable at work because I was extremely bloated and had pains in my side/back. So I'm taking a break from that for a few days. I am a bread freak as well. Maybe I'll cut back on the carbs and see if that helps.

I agreee you cant spot reduce, but with cardio.. try doing the scissors crunches!!! omg those babies WORK. Ive started doing them and in just a week ive lost almost an inch off my middle!

Just remember SLOW and EASY. I learned them when i watched the 30 day shred for the first time (i started actually DOING that video yesterday! lol) but i watched it about a week ago when i was deciding if i was actually going to do it or not.. lol and i tried those things and WOW! I love them!

Agreed! I started with 10lbs and now I use 8-10 lbs for my cardio!

    Push yourself!!

You just got to be patient! I havent gotten rid of my pooch yet...But i know i'll get there. All you can do is exersize and diet...continue to lose weight and you will lose the pooch along with it!

It's so sad because I'm a taurus so I'm just a little lazy by nature so cardio has always kind of been an "ehhh" thing for me...lol. I'm going to start doing more cardio though so I can get those results I'm looking for. Got a trip to Vegas and Miami next year....hoping to go pooch free...haha.

They will not get rid of your belly pooch. You read the "spot reduce" comments, right? There's science to back that up, if you're interested.

To be honest, if you do not like cardio, you do not have to do it as long as you have a calorie deficit. (there are other benefits however).

Juts keep losing the weight, and push as much as you can with strength training. And be patient (hard to do I know).

Yeah I know you can't spot reduce however once I lose the fat off top, those tight abs will be ready to come out and play :)

If its a baby pooch you may be doomed. I got insane stretch marks w/ my daughter and even after I lost all the weight plus some and was at my lowest adult weight I still had the extra skin and pooch, albeit smaller, it was there just becasue the extra skin was hanging there. Hopefully your skin genetics are better than mine!

oooohhhh nooo, don't tell me that...lol. i would love for the pooch to be completely gone but if that's unrealistic, I guess I can settle for a mini pooch :D

    Somewhat true

You can eat clean all you want - its not going to give you 6pack abs unless you have the genetics. Some are born with great genetics and the one sit up they do each morning is enough to give them a washboard stomach. Others..... the majority....have to work for it!! Diet is #1 and not eating well will cause much delay in the abs making an apperance. However, adding in strength and ab exercises are also very important.
