Thanks for the info! Im 5'9" and currently 155lbs. I have been on MFP for about a month and a half but I've been trying to lose this disgusting weight since I gave birth last January.

You are in the normal range for your BMI, and what you are talking about is likely loose skin. please don't call your weight disgusting when you are clearly at a healthy weight, its ridiculous and borderline offensive to those who have legitimate weight to lose.

Smh...exactly what i was thinking...i'm 5'9 218...so if you're 155 i dont see what the problem is because that my dear is slim to be a tall girl :ohwell:

If you're not consuming adequate protein while lifting you may as well be trying to nail jell-o to a tree.

So, I hate to break it to you, but about, 90% of what you are eating I wouldn't call healthy?

Yes, you do have fruit. But where is your lean protein? You aren't eating any vegetables, and what little protein you do have is processed and pumped full of sodium.

ETA-- the fats in your diet are also mostly partially hydrogenated (ie, the margarine). I really believe that body comp is 3/4 because of what you eat (if not more), so in order to develop more muscle tone you are going to need to eat more lean protein, less processed carbohydrates, and replace the trans fats with stuff like avocado, olive oil, and nuts.

    I second this.

Whoah! You sound awfully picky about what you consider healthy. There are no bad foods, just bad diets.

Definitely do not agree with this...there are alot of bad foods...especially processed ones. Your body is what you make it...you are what you eat. Consume foods that are closest to nature and reap the rewards....Lean meats like turkey chop meat and chicken breast, healthy fats like olive oil nuts and avocado, healthy carbs to fuel your workouts as in sweet pototo(low GI index) and brown rice...oats...mix with fruit.

Being at a "healthy weight" on paper does not mean she has no fat to lose. I'm 5'5" and 127 lbs. With my clothes on, I look thin. With my clothes off, I have quite a bit of fat on my body. Fat that makes me feel bad about myself. Fat that I want to lose to be healthy and feel good about myself. So don't assume that just because you know her height and weight that she doesn't have fat to lose. She did not say that she was fat, she said she HAS fat she wants to lose! Us "healthy weight" people are allowed to feel bad about our bodies and want to change them too! Some people on this board jump down your throat for no reason, it's disgusting. As for the original question, I'm trying to figure all that out right now too. I'm going to start New Rules Of Lifting For Women next week with a bit of cardio added in and i'm going to eat at maintenance so we'll see if that helps! Good luck to you, I hope you are able to figure things out!
She still didn't need to call is 'disgusting'. Tons of people on these boards would kill to weigh what she weighs. She can do whatever she damn pleases to her body and still respect those of us who are trying just as hard but are not as physically blessed yet.

You're saying you want to lose weight but I think what you should focus on is gaining lean muscle mass. This will fill out the areas you are worried about and the more lean muscle you have the easier time you will have burning off any remaining BF you may/may not have. Like other posters said, find out your TDEE, adjust your macros and get STRONG! Cardio is a great (I'm a running nut so I struggle with this) but strength training is very important for a healthy body.

I think that people who are criticizing your food choices, while trying to be helpful, are missing the point... you can't live on "diet" food your whole life. Find the right balance between diet, exercise and eating to fuel your body and then once you have that figured out, you can eat whatever you want within reason.

I don't think people are trying to be mean..but a really high percentage of people here have 50-200 pounds to lose. So when someone comes on crying and calling themselves disgusting because they can't get that last 10 pounds off, sorry but a lot of us can't empathize.

I feel bad for the people crying about "why does she only get to have 10lbs to lose and I have to lose 50lbs" Blah blah blah. I don't need anybody's empathy - just advice. Thanks and thank you!

Oh and I found a scale today at the docs office. I now weigh 150lbs so I guess I lost 5lbs in a month and a half so something is working. Its just slow as hell! I just hope that the scale I first weighed myself on was correct at 155lbs. Some scales differ significantly.

And brown rice is just plain gross. Eww.

For me the sweet spot seems to be somewhere over my BMR but not too far below my TDEE and it ends up working out to .5-1 pound loss per week.

for some reason i'm not losing much in terms of scale weight, but i have been managing to lose about a pants size per month. most of what i'm losing is fat because there's definitely less blubber around my middle, hips and thighs.

when i firsst started, i was under the impression that i needed to lose 70-80 pounds, but now that i've only lost somewhere between 21-30 pounds and i'm halfway to my size 6 goal size, i'm not so sure

You mention you have lots of flab that you want to get rid of, you should incorporate some strength training into your workout. It will help burn the fat combined with cardio workouts. I’m not sure how you feel about dvd workouts but you should definitely give the 30 day shred a try. I love it and I’m seeing lots of toning in my muscles

It's called fresh and easy and whole food stores and farmer's markets, so you don't have to hunt your own turkey duh! Avoid saturated fats, genetically modified foods, fillers, artificial flavors ect. I'm sorry but this post was pretty Ignorant. :noway:
