Imax 3D. cause the Imax near me is ******* awesome

and hell no to midnight. I went to some recent showings of the LOTR trilogy this summer. All the little socially awkward nerdy wannabe LOTR geeks couldn't keep their mouths shut. I don't need giggles and claps and socially inept outbursts after every scene.

6... I'm wary of 3D but apparently 3D technology is way better used in The Hobbit than in Avatar, which just hurt my old person eyes

HFR 3D, only because the closest IMAX is more than an hour away.

my first time i'll be seeing it Imax 3d.

second time i want to try the hfr. but the theater i'd go to just has (regular?) hfr there's nothing on there about imax or 3d

if there's a 3rd time i go see it in the theater then it'll just be regular screen.

i wont be buying the blu-rays until it come in a package set with the next 2.

i''ll be seeing it this sunday. i'd love to go to the midnight opening show and i would if i lived in nYC because then i could go to a major theater to see costumes. public transportation in san fran doesnt exist after midnight so there's no way i'd be able to go here

    5. HFR 3D
But... in an XD theater. Not as big as Imax, but a big *kitten* screen nonetheless.

I really dislike 3D, but want to see the HFR. Hoping it's not Benny Hill-esque, as I've read.

    Going tonight @ midnight!

6 but I'm hearing really mixed reviews on the doubled frame rates.... people either love it or absolutely hate it

    IMAX 3D for sure.

But I will force myself to wait a few weeks for my peeps. We are all getting together for a LOTR trilogy before going to see Hobbit. Extended blu-ray versions of all of them.

I'll probably be seeing a matinee of it in standard, just because I'm a tightwad. But it may end up being our Christmas day movie, which could change things a bit.

I've been trying to re-read both novels, but have been slacking, so we will probably do a movie marathon instead.

Probably standard. Sounds like its only going to cover the first 6 or 8 chapters and it's like three hours!

Saw it last night at midnight in regular, with annotations from my bf the Tolkien scholar, letting me know what every reference was, and letting me know who was really boss at speaking Quenya and/or Sindarin (Cate Blanchet), who wasn't so much (everyone else) and how cool it was that they managed to eke out enough Orkish from the collected works to make full sentences. Oddly enough, it was not as obnoxious as it sounds.

It was probably obnoxious to the other viewers who had to hear him blab through the movie.
