I still don't understand the importance of logging water (except to make the virtual cup spill on the monitor).
ETA: That said, if I *was* logging water, I would log water as water. My body, however, may not make this same distinction.0 -
Coffee is a diuretic. It shouldn't be counted as water.
Water is a diuretic, what should I do?
Drink even more water to offset the diuretic effect of the water you already drank.
Agreed if you weren't being sarcastic.0 -

I rarely log anything related to my coffee, unless its loads of sugary cream. I use Splenda and fat free creamer and rarely log it. I will drink it whether or not it fits in my calorie allowance. I rarely log water too, dont really see the point!!0

I only drink black coffee, water and wine. I only log the wine. I know I drink enough water, I love it! But I'm happy to read this thread because I prefer to have a cup or two of coffee before I go for a run in the morning.0

Instant coffee is a shot of coffee with a glass of water.
Long black / americano is a shot of coffee with a glass of water.
Anything you buy at a cafe such as a latte, flat white, cappuccino, IS NOT WATER.
If it has milk in it, log it as milk. If it has water in it, then you CAN log it as water.
Most importantly is that you drink a few glasses of water regardless.0 -
yeah, if i had a frapp or something with cream i wouldnt even ask this question
i drink my coffee black with one packet of truvia occasionally
im not concerned about not having enough to stay hydrated. my water bottle is with me Always haha0 -
I don't log coffee, as I drink black coffee and it's ussually 1-2 calorie a cup, and I simply don't mind 2-4 extra calories a day.
I don't log the water in coffee because coffee is a diuretic. As far as it's concerned, the coffee itself will just flush the water I drink with it. And maybe some more.0 -

Well, technically, it is liquid, but it's also a diuretic that dehydrates you because it makes you pee so much, so if the point of water is to hydrate, it's not that.
Some people do, but no. Don't log coffee. I'd consider having an extra cup of water for every cup of coffee you have...for me, I find myself very dehydrated, especially if I'm working out.
The diuretic effect of caffeine is minimal

"...nor does it cause significant dehydration or electrolyte imbalance during exercise."
http://europepmc.org/abstract/MED/12187618
"The literature indicates that caffeine consumption stimulates a mild diuresis similar to water, but there is no evidence of a fluid-electrolyte imbalance that is detrimental to exercise performance or health"
" Investigations comparing caffeine (100-680 mg) to water or placebo seldom found a statistical difference in urine volume."
yep...sad but true0 -
I do. Def.why not0
-
I log it in as 'water consumed'..throughout the day0
