Super delicious if you go to a nice japanese ramen place. There;s a world of difference between that and the 99 cent ramen packs from the grocery store.

They are basically just SALT and CARBS.....because of all the sodium i would say not healthy...but i still eat them sometimes and add meat and veggies ...

Unhealthy....the wax on the noodles stays in your system for like 7 days. for 1/2 a package its 190 calories...im sorry I would much rather spend 190 calories on something more nutritious and healthy for me. I used to live off them when I first moved out on my own cause it was easy lol. but I wont eat them now.

No wax... and nothing stays in your digestive system for 7 days. Nothing.

lol that doesn't make them healthy none the less...lol ..someone else had told me that a while back...thanks for the updated info though.
  • If you must eat them, toss the packet in the trash and use your own seasonings instead. It does not take that much longer to cook a handful of noodles (spaghetti, egg noodles, mac, ziti, etc.) and cheaper to buy those in bulk vs. the ramen. I would definitely try to find a healthier variety if possible. It is about doing the best you can with what you have available to you. :)

I like to make mock chicken noodle soup with the instant noodles especially on those days I am busy or in a hurry...http://athomewithcat.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/daily-stuff-friday-december-7-2012/

Not something I would buy. Junk.

Better choice would be cook some soba noodles add veggie broth and fresh veggies. No sodium. Or use Mrs. Dash.

I have fixed them in the past when I had nothing else, and before I had allergic response to wheat as I am right now, and I used the cup and directions as suggested...I did ok with that but would wake up in the middle of the night with an incredible thirst, same the next day...I never noticed any bloating tho.....and usually when I had them, it was in the winter and it helped warm me up...

They are fried, sodium content is insane and one of those bricks is actually two serving. I won't eat them not anymore.

I've never seen the less-sodium version here in CA. Nearly all of the sodium comes from the seasoning packet, which is why I very seldom use it.

I absolutely love ramen noodles! I buy Thai Kitchen brand ones. They are called Thai Kitchen Green Onion Instant Rice Noodle Soup. They are lower in sodium and fat...etc.. I put in my protein source (chicken, turkey, beef) and tons of veggies. Yum! For this lifestyle to work I had to have my ramen noodles! :) Nutritonals for the WHOLE package is: 170 Cal/2.5 Fat (no saturated)/780 Sodium/34 Carbs/1 fiber/3 sugar. I don't worry too much about sodium as I drink a ton of water and work out alot. FYI-Noodles only are 5 WW Points plus.

I eat ramen noodles nearly everyday. They're my kryptonite. I know its bad for me but soooooo GOOD! I generally don't drink the broth though, so I guess that helps. Then I just gorge endless amounts of water.

  • Raman noodles are not salty people!!! I use them on occasion in stir fry. It is the flavor packet that is salty. Use different methods to add flavor and ramon noodles can become a lot of different things.

However there are much better choices out there for noodles. But this thread was about raman right.
  • i don't drink the broth either. make the noodles with broth, then drain broth off. does anyone know if that changes the calorie content?

190 calories per serving, high sodium, high fat...the perfect comfort food for sick people. As a matter of fact, my husband has the flu and guess what he got for dinner?

Real ramen is the absolute ish!

The kind you buy for 89c at your corner grocer... well, it pretty much doesn't have any nutritional value thanks to the high sodium and fat count and low everything else count.

It's only ridiculous in sodium if you use the seasoning packet. I make Ramen all the time for my daughter, I cook the noodles, drain the water, sprinkle just a touch of the seasoning packet and add veggies. Wa-la. Decent, easy and fast noodle and veggie dish.

I would guess NOT, but I have never checked. My husband and son eat them and the smell makes me nauseous.

My middle son doesn"t cook them or use seasoning. He spreads peanut butter on the uncooked noodle brick.
  • Mmm... I love them!!
However; I feel like a BLOWFISH after eating them. Major water retention!!

I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but I understand that the noodles aren't dried, they are fried, so the fat content is also very, very high.

When I'm dying for noodles I use rice noodles in some chicken broth with a spoonful of miso paste and a bunch of vegetables. Tastes yummy, and the miso satisfies my urge for salt.
