Haven't read the actual study. Interesting that the article seems to interpret "junk food" as "high fat". Hopefully the actual study itself is a little more specific.

Quitting anything addictive gives you withdrawal symptoms.0
-
I couldn't find the study. The news report basically tells you nothing.0
-
Junk food definitely contains high fat. It can get you more cholestrol saturated in your body. Also the some of the ingredients can cause obesity if eaten in excess.

No kidding. Quit eating or drinking something you really enjoy, and you'll miss it. Interesting. Who would have thought?0

ALL FOOD includes ingredients that can cause obesity IF EATEN IN EXCESS0 -
some of the ingredients can cause obesity if eaten in excess.
Lettuce can cause obesity if eaten in excess.
Anyway, I used to eat tons of junk. I replaced it with healthy things like fruit smoothies to get the sweet taste without anything unhealthy and my brain seemed to accept that just fine. I don't miss the junk. I eat some here and there still, but it isn't as good as I remember.0 -
I hear methadone helps with the withdrawal symptoms0

Whoa whoa whoa, time out. I want someone to demonstrate this:
Lettuce can cause obesity if eaten in excess.
Think of it as the antithesis to that Twinkie diet guy.
It would take about 20 heads of lettuce for ~2100 calories.
...
...
...
...sorry, was lost in thought...picturing 20 heads of lettuce...and trying to imagine eating all of them...every day...for months.
*shudder*
So anyhow, yeah, hoping someone accepts this challenge and publishes their results.0 -

Or your stomach would rupture from the volume and you'd die. Yikes.0 -

After a few days consuming that much roughage, I'd think you wouldn't be able to leave the bathroom. Ever. Eat then go. Repeat.0 -

It's still nice when science vindicates common sense (i.e., certain types of food can be addicting).0 -
That's partly why I haven't quit junk food. I've just cut back on it.0

John Pinette:
"I tried the low carb diet... They said, 'Oh, after a few days you won't have any more cravings...' Well I had cravings!!! When you see a Krispy Kreme and you jump out of a moving vehicle - that's a craving!!!"0 -

But really. That's not a spam post.0 -

LOL I love bunnies!
I think its probably true I know after a really bad binge it takes me at least 3 days to get over the cravings.0 -

Bunnies eat their own poop. Which proves the point. Lettuce tastes doubly good.0 -
i just read the abstract, so I don't really know, but I find it interesting that they label it high fat diet vs low fat diet, when both diets were fat + sugar. But, seems common sense... eating lots of fat and sugar made me always want to eat more fat and sugar. Most people who eat a lot of fat, also eat a lot of sugar. Unless they're low-carby types, who eat lots of fat and limited sugar, and then they report... wait for it... reduced cravings for sugar.
Peter over at hyperlipid talks about the use of knockout mice for these kinds of studies, because these mice have be been engineered to easily gain/lose fat. Makes for interesting studies, but difficult to conclude anything. Not sure what mice they used for this study. Definitely not as cute as bunnies, I'm sure.
(Only click this link if you're ready for geeky study analysis, although of a different study than the original one from OP)
