I spend way more now especially as I have to factor in the costs of not only buying better quality but also being on a gluten and dairy free diet costs a fortune. I'm not coeliac but the intolerance to both the gluten and dairy are bad enough to need to change. Feeling a lot better for it but my bank account doesn't like it, especially on a very restricted income. I'm doing it for my health, extra years and good health is definitely worth it!
I think you can get Gluten free products on prescription, it might save you a little bit

I was told that was only the case if you are coeliac :(

Never tracked in the past, but I spend about $200 a month on food. That ranges from chicken breast to pop-tarts.

Eating healthy is rather expensive..actually spending more money by eating healthier, but it's all worth it in the end.

I'm also a sucker for a good steak! Filet Mignon or NY strip .... yeah that can add up ! about 12$/lb. where I am
  • Where I live it´s more expensive to eat healthy than unhealthy so I haven´t saved + to buy new clothes is very very expensive.

I definitely spend more, even though I eat far less, but I think it has more to do with having 19 and 12 year old boys than anything else....lol. If it were just me by myself I would probably barely spend anything on food, I hate having it in the house, because I am afraid I will eat it...

Saved nothing, but have taught both kids to eat healthy and be conscious of what is actually in the food they eat. They are now much better at it than I am, and they also track down cheap healthy options with more skill than I do - being students they can teach me a lot about eating healthy on a low budget.

I consider that a huge win, and something I would not have given them if I hadn't started reading labels 15 years ago, to avoid stupid options. They both do it regularly, checking the contents of all pre-packaged food, and then they go home and research how they can make spice-mixes and sauces from healthier and often cheaper alternatives. They also challenge me to dig out that old knowledge about things like how to cook a cow's tongue or make fish-cakes from uncommon types of fish, things my mother knew and I didn't really remember that I learned.

The weeks when the kids (adults, really) eat with me, I don't just increase the cost by me x number of people. The cost goes up a lot more than that!

I spend like $150 at costco / week, and $60 / week at sprouts and I seriously don't know if I'm saving money but I don't have a choice... gotta eat what I gotta eat.

Save money? Between the cost of healthy eating and the new clothes I've needed I haven't saved anything, probably spent more.

My food budget has doubled if not tripled. I used to eat just once a day and it was a crappy McDonald's meal for about $3.50. Now I eat 5 or 6 times a day and it is all healthy. It's not a diet for me so much as a way of life now. And holy smokes I feel so much better! No way do I ever want to go back to my "wicked" old ways.

I actually spend WAY more money than I ever have on groceries now that I'm making healthier choices.. Unfortunately.

    Stony feild organic 10oz smoothie - 1.89
    2 Liter of cola - 99 cents

Large container of greek yogurt 5.99
Large bag of potato chips.. 2.99

just some silly examples i remember off the top of my head.. anyway....

I also switched to turkey products instead of beef and they are SO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!

I don't think I'm saving anything because I'm spending more money on working out, like zumba classes and bikram yoga (yoga is so expensive!). AND I have to spend money to buy new clothes. Buy hey, I'm not complaining ;)

Not sure but I don't go out as much as I used to and don't drink nearly as much. I'm guessing I'm saving quite a bit.

More but its tastier. Ive found shopping at the markets helps. But seafood though it has done wonders for my skin, is expensive. And inviting people over to dinner is more expensive than eating out but i love the hospitality that comes with it. Gym is also more expensive but im sure its saving on medical bills long term.

I have saved a little money not buying so many 'snacks' - mostly for my boyfriend who still eats them but is now recently decided he's getting a little gut (he's a twig) and should snack less.

Unfortunately anything that I have /might have saved has gone to activities to help me stay active in the winter ;)

Food-wise, our budget is about the same (maybe a hair more if there's pricey fish involved or something). But replacing an entire wardrobe multiple times for the 5 sizes I am down has cost a small fortune (even at goodwill). No savings here...
