Try free weights - more interesting than machines.
I dislike cardio machines, with the exception of the rower, where I like to set myself mini challenges, using intervals. But generally I'm happier on a real bike, or running outdoors.

^^^^ This is exactly what I was thinking : )

For me it's all about goals. Track your progress and look for improvements and set yourself some short-term attainable goals. For instance, you were on the Treadmill today for 20 minutes at a 6mph pace with a 1% incline. Set a goal of being able to do that at a 7mph pace. Or if you're doing weights on a machine and you're curling 40lbs for 8 reps/set, make a goal to get that up to 50lbs for 8 reps. It feels awesome when you hit those small goals and see yourself getting better over time. Also if you track all your progress and can plot it out on a graph it really is cool to see the trends improve.
