Maple syrup, good carb or bad carb?

Very good. It comes from a tree!

If it comes from a plant it must be a vegetable....

    I DUNWANT DIABEETUS!!!

NO- AND EVEN THE SUGGESTION THAT YOU WOULD EAT ICE CREAM CAKE WITH MAPLE SYRUP MEANS YOU NEED HELP!!!

The pizookie at BJ's, where does it fall? I plan on getting one this weekend. Yay or nay?

    pizookie.gif

Which pizookie are we talking about? The list includes:

    chocolate chip
    peanut butter
    white chocolate/macadamia
    oatmeal raisin walnut
    oreo
    red velvet
    raspberry white chocolate almond
triple chocolate made with Ghirardelli chocolate

    HOW DARE YOU.

There is chocolate chip, and there are imposters. Choose wisely.

I have cheated with the red velvet...I hang my head in shame :embarassed:

warming the carbs up does it count if it's done in the oven? does warming it up by letting it sit out on the counter help build up the good carbs?

They're actually rather small...however, they do have a family-sized one that's about as big as a large pizza. With that one you have the option of 4 different flavors of cookie and there are 7 scoops of ice cream. I believe it's called the "Diabetic Coma" on the menu; but I could be mistaken...

Someone on my FL suggested this too- I honestly don't know. More research needs to be done. But frozen cake is still nasty.

There's a lot of discussion here about good carbs and bad carbs- and how good carbs are OK if you eat them the right way. So, I have decided to clear the air and set the record straight about the RIGHT WAY TO EAT CARBS.

I'll start with the BAD CARBS, the WRONG WAY:
    1) Cookies do not belong in candy bars. Twix are bad carbs.
    2) Ice cream cake is gross. Who wants frozen cake? Nobody. There's nothing wrong with ice cream along side room temperature or warm cake.
    3) Chocolate chip cookies do not need nuts. Bad carbs.
    4) Chocolate chips turn oatmeal raisin cookies to bad carbs.
    5) Raspberry flavored everything is bad carbs. Let's stick with strawberry, people. Have your raspberries in ketone form the way god intended.
    6) Keep bakery treats out of ice cream. I do not want a cold, soggy brownie or cookie mixed in to my ice cream. See suggestion above re: cake.

^^^YOU WILL GET FAT** BY OVERINDULGING* ON THESE BAD CARBS ROUTINELY. ^^^
*overindulging in this case means eating above TDEE including these carbs
**get fat means gain weight in this specific usage, no comment intended about body composition

    GOOD CARBS include:
    1) Cakes and cupcakes warmed up or room temperature.
    2) Hot apple pie
    3) Bagels
    4) Pancakes
    5) Waffles
    4) Cinnamon buns
    5) Donuts
    6) Fudge
    7) Cookie dough
    8) Ice Cream - Ice cream should be separate from all the above, but pairs well with any of them. (bagels might be pushing it, but I wouldn't say it's a BAD carb combo, more like neutral) Just don't force icecream to become a hybrid food!

^^^YOU WILL NOT GET FAT BY INCLUDING GOOD CARBS 'AS PART OF A BALANCED DIET'*^^
As part of a balanced diet means that you stay within your calorie and macro limits, and does not apply to those with a specific metabolic condition/disease such as IR, diabetes, PCOS, etc.

This is a non-inclusive list. Feel free to ask about other specific foods and I will tell you whether they fall under good carbs or bad carbs. It may seem confusing, but I am here to help.

you have clearly spent too much time thinking about this subject.

    "bad" carbs have safe words.
good carbs don't know what a safe word is.

I must not have been clear about the nuts rule- nuts don't belong in CHOCOLATE CHIP cookies. Other flavors can have nuts. White chocolate macadamia is a well balanced good carb. This is why I offered to help- the rules can get really confusing.

any rule that excludes walnuts + chocolate chips is a rule made to be broken. no safe word. this cookie just says "eat me". and means it.

    White Chocolate- definitely.
Regular chocolate chip with nuts- bad carb.

Though that picture WinnerVictorious just posted is making me think twice. But again, this is about science, not my preferences.

You can get just chocolate chip..

Or...you can get the sampler...3 regular sized pizookies...although, that could be considered the "diet" version. And that would make it a bad carb...

Bean, BJs is a restaurant and brewery in SoCal. (I personally don't go there for the beer.) The Pizookie is their signature dessert (because they also tout their excellent "Chicago-style" deep dish pizza. It's pretty good, but it's still west coast pizza.) everyone should have a Pizookie before they die. It should be mandatory.

ETA: There are no BJs Cost Club stores around here that I know of. (My sister in PA has a membership, though, so I've been to one before.) We have Costco. (They do not sell Pizookies.)
