APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HELPS CONQUER CARB CRAVINGS

I take a teaspoonful immediately before or after every meal or snack. I can't say it is a fat burner, but it is full of antioxidants and has KILLED my cravings for sweets. That in itself is reason enough for me to keep taking it.

IF you choose to take vinegar, be sure to do it immediately before or after eating to prevent stomach upset. And get the kind that has "mother" in it. I use Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Honestly, it tastes nasty, so I always have a cup of very cold water ready to chase it. Some prefer to mix it with water or juice, but I'd rather take a spoonful of something nasty than try to choke down a whole glass full.

HERE'S AN EXCERPT FROM THE ARTICLE I FOUND ONLINE ON ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:

"There have been several studies which show that apple cider vinegar helps balance blood sugar levels. This may be the result of apple cider vinegar's ability to lower the glycemic index of a meal, which prevents blood sugar spikes. This could influence weight loss, especially for people who are insulin resistant or diabetic.

- One study indicated that taking a small amount of apple cider vinegar before mealtimes helped improve satiety levels and could prevent overeating.

- Although apple cider vinegar is acidic, it actually helps balance the acidity in the body by helping it become more alkaline. Some experts suggest that this can support weight loss.

- One 2006 study suggested apple cider vinegar may have properties that lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These same properties could help you lose fat weight.

- Apple cider vinegar can fight candida. If you have candida overgrowth, you may crave more carbohydrates and sugar, which could be undermining your weight loss efforts. Eliminating candida may help you lose weight.

Aside from weight loss support, apple cider vinegar has many other health benefits. Daily apple cider vinegar intake can help with free radical damage, arthritic pain, high blood pressure, and acid reflux. It's a decent source of potassium and calcium. Apple cider vinegar also has strong anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties.

So, even if apple cider vinegar can't promise overnight weight loss, it can still support a healthy lifestyle conducive to weight loss. With all the associated health benefits and the possibility of weight loss, it certainly can't hurt to add apple cider vinegar to your daily regimen. "

That's awesome! I often marinate my chicken in apple cider vinegar... maybe that's why I feel so full after dinner and don't snack!
  • My best friend swears that Organic Apple Cider Vinegar has cured her acid reflux. She took Rx strength medication for years... then read somewhere that a teaspon of Organice Apple Cider Vinegar would help with heart burn.

6 years and never back on medication.

    No heart burn.
  • Hmmm . . . guess that's why my grandmother always put a smidgen in her applesauce?

My mom takes apple cider vinegar pills for her arthritis. She gets them at a health food store, no prescription. She used to take a spoonful, but had trouble with the taste.

I am big on apple cider vinegar too. I don't even take the organic one. BUt it's helped me with my acid reflux and sinus allergies. I just moved here in the States and being in the allergy capital of the Ohio Valley is not helping. Finally my sister's friend - a doctor - told me to try out apple cider vinegar. I take a spoonful of it 30mins before meals and in just two days I have felt dramatic results. I have been pill-free since October 2009 and I swear by it with my friends when they have allergy issues.

My other friend uses it for weight loss and he said he's seeing results so the post earlier may explain the reason why.

    It also helps with asthma.
I was having reactions to every controller inhaler that I tried. I finally did some research and started drinking this everyday:

1 cup cold water with ice, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (organic, unfiltered), 1 tablespoon local honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice (fresh, organic)

I sipped it through the morning and had another in the afternoon. It didn't cure my symptoms, but I saw a definite change.
I have now found a controller med that I can take (and need to take), but I may continue my drink when allergy season gears up.

I'll second that, my doctor turned me on to this while I was pregnant as a natural way to combat third trimester heartburn. It works!
  • I will be trying this for sure! Thanks!

FYI: This won't sure your carb cravings overnight, but you should notice a difference in a few days and after several weeks you will notice you are comletely in control of your sweet tooth.

This is also a good thing to do when you have been to a wedding or birthday party where you feel compelled to eat rich foods or simple carbs you haven't been. A few days of vinegar therapy will help you keep the carb monster under lock and key.

I no longer take it daily, just immediately before or after meals or snacks that are high carb. This is like my secret weapon since simple carbs are my trigger food.

Thank you for the post. My mother and grandmother both always drank apple cider vinegar and I never understood why... now I realize they knew what they were doing.

Being a diabetic with terrible sugar cravings -this will definately be an old remedy I will bring back into the new!

I use a lot of balsamic and apple cider vinegar as a dressing for my veggies! Never tried drinking it straight though... yuck! Vinegar helps keep your blood sugars stable, very good for diabetics!

I have some cucumbers and onions marinating in apple cider vinegar right now too!

You are right. It tastes nasty alone, but I always chase it with cold water. Small price to pay to keep the carb monster under control at my house.

If you have candida overgrowth, you may crave more carbohydrates and sugar, which could be undermining your weight loss efforts. Apple cider vinegar fights candida. so if you are a carb addict vinegar may help you lose weight.

Candida is a yeast that occurs naturally in in the intestinal tract, mouth, throat and genitals. Normally it lives in harmony with a variety of other microorganisms and actually performs a couple important functions. The problem occurs when something upsets the balance of bacteria in the body and this allows the yeast organism to proliferate and take over all the healthy microorganisms.

Apple cider vinegar can cure practically everything. My mom takes it and it's helped with numerous ailments, none of which I can specifically remember... been thinking about starting to take it. I know I tried it awhile back when she wanted me to use it to cure something and it tasted AWFUL. Probably why I haven't ever done it again.

I myself use to drink apple cider vinegar everyday and I did lose weight. It is suppose to be a fat burner and it did help me a year ago to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. It is recommended to drink it especially before bed to burn the fat while you sleep. And, besides I do like the taste because I like tangy and bitter tasting things.
