If you consult with a health care professional about taking supplements it seems to be best to visit a nutritionist because studies have shown that medical doctors are poorly educated about dietary supplements (review http://www.supplements-and-health.com/nutritional-supplements-information.html ).0

Indiscriminate supplementing is worse than no supplementing at all, you can create imbalances because micronutrients work synergistically and in opposition. It's quite possible to get all the nutrients you need and more from a balanced wholefood diet, including vitamin D which is found in many oily fish.

Just because some doctors in the US recommend supplementing certain nutrients does not mean this is a universal truth, it isn't the case worldwide, some doctors use scientific evidence and common sense. I've never taken prenantal anything, never needed it and never been advised to take it, I never planned to breed so being of childbearing age is/ was largely irrelevant. Some women are even capable of keeping their legs closed when single, it's true!0 -
I take an A-Z multivitamin plus evening primrose, cod liver oil and garlic capsules. I dont eat much meat or fish so i take them incase im missing out on vital nutrients :ohwell:0
