I think you have lots of fans, V - I'm one of them. I had this weird image of doing couch to 5k outside. I'll be the one on the couch, watching the runners go by. There are a lot of races through my neighborhood, but I'm never up early enough to see them.
It's nice to see everyone enjoying the Spring. Today, I'm heading to the gym - it's been awhile. I woke up too late to get to the yoga class I was planning on. I'm going to a friend's birthday party tonight - we are starting with Alice in Wonderland at 4:20, so I need to get moving.
Iggy is doing better today. The vet thought it could be the gas anesthesia (there's a word I had to look up). I hope he continues to keep food down.

Yoga class update: there was some coughing, but nothing too bad. Strangely (or maybe not strangely, thoughts, Mary?) the most difficult thing to do was standing forward bend.
The teacher was a kundalini teacher (probably my least favorite of the styles I've tried) but it was predominantly a straight-up floor pose heart and hip openers class. Also, she led a very good breathing meditation (also tricky) at the end.
Now I'm trying to figure out where to spend my afternoon...it's way too pretty/warmish out to stay inside and grade papers.

Send some of that sunshine my way, ya'll. Of course, yesterday was beautiful and I didn't get out at all. Oops.
Just wanted to say hi and that V, this is brilliant:I definitely get that decisions/stress thing. I find I have a threshold of organization/feeling in control, and if that gets overwhelmed, I go into what I call cascade failure...and my brain/judgement/patience stop working. I'm trying lately to recognize when that's happening and let my weird decisions happen in non-food ways (bad TV for a few hours, a walk outside, a manicure, a bubble bath) anything that feels like I'm taking a break from the current situation. I think defiance of the rules is a coping skill for me, so I try not to break the food rules if I can help it. And, yeah...exercise helps. I miss it.
I get cascade failure too, only I'm a child of the 60s with ADD, so I call it "blown". (Mind-blowing) -my-head-blows-up and all my thoughts go out of it, then it takes me an hour to regroup.
I subscribe to the feed for V's blog posts.. But I'm not a stalker? :blushing: Now I see I'm a fan.
I'm taking my kitty, Raisin, for a walk in her kitty stroller: she seems to have cabin fever and I need some things from the store, need to take a Netlix to the post office. So it is a nice 5 mile walk with a lot of hills and a stroller....with a little basket underneath her for my groceries.0 -
CM - are you really having only 11-13 grams of sugar a day? Just my milk intake goes over that!
V - generally gentle back bends and, oddly enough, inversions are recommended for Upper Respiratory type stuff. A supported bridge is the best thing for me for URIs (block under sacrum if you don't have a bolster). I think the way the head tilts and the lungs above the head in forward bend might cause any phlegm to hit the back part of the nose? While headstand and supported shoulderstand are great for mild allergies, I wouldn't try them while still having problems with standing forward bend. If you have a bolster, strap and block, try this one: http://www.yogastudiocalgary.com/newsletter/newsletter_images/newslet_oct03_1.jpg The top of the shoulders are resting on the floor and the bolster is touching the bottom tips of the shoulderblades.0 -
Hi, Mary,
That's just "added" sugar. Usually around 60-80g counting diary and fruit.0
