Hi everyone!
I'm Amanda from beautiful Melbourne, Australia!
I've just joined yesterday...
I'm turning 39 this year and boy, how my body's changed in the few years!
I have two kids (18 and nearly 17), and until now have been one of those people who has had the sheer 'luck' of not ever putting on much weight.
I've always eaten fairly well most of the time but don't exercise at all, and I guess years of sedentary desk jobs coupled with the inevitable slowing metabolism have caught up with me.
It's time for me to do something about it before things get away from me! Now I'm not naive enough to try to attempt some grand New Years Resolution or set goals that will fizzle out after a few weeks...just slowly, consistently, steadily.
That's what I like about MyFitnessPal - I've just logged in my first day's food, then my 40 minute walk, and LOVED the little motivating message that if I continue like I did today, I should lose about 3.5 kilos in 5 weeks! How exciting!
2013's going to be a busy year for me - I'm changing careers (public servant to high school teacher) and will have little time to myself I imagine until I ease into things, but I'm sure I can get some walking in at least for now and eat well.
