Trish- I just bought some protein powder with money that we don't have so that I can have extra "stuff" to eat! I hope you got to treat Dave to a nice carwash.

Amy- That is too funny that you had your hubby's sandwich packed in a spiderman container!

So the doctor ordered blood tests to get my thyroid checked today. We shall see how that goes. I had it tested before like 10 years ago and they said everything was fine, but I guess your thyroid can change in 10 years????

Arg--I had a post typed up and hit the wrong button--deleted it all. Oh well.

Amy--spiderman? well I bet he loved that! You could just tell him he's your superhero. LOL :blushing:

Trish--way to go on using the time to walk at the mall. I did that today too while I was there buying myself a bday present. I wore my HR monitor today on my errands and I think I figured out why I am so tired after going to the grocery store, bank, mall, library & where ever else. I burned as many calories in an hour and a half of that as I do when I walk/jog for 30. Did I count those calories? You betcha I did!

I did well on my calories & water until 30 minutes ago when (whispering) I snarfed a bowl of cereal--sorry Melissa. It was survival food--I made it through another Graduation Committee meeting tonight. Some very opinionated cranky people there let me tell you. Not a pretty picture so I had to find my friend--FOOD when I got home. I am not way over--just a little so I am okay with that.

    Goals tomorrow

    WATER--8 glasses
    Finish my grocery list
Go visit my new niece at the hospital--she so cute!
    Walk/jog 30 minutes
    Stay w/in my calories

Well to make today's goal of getting to bed I should already be there--so . . .

    Night,

    Kim

Well, I survived my day of work, only 3 more to go! :P I'm not used to getting up so early or being away from my kiddos for so long! Ugh. But the extra money helps. I was of course exhausted when I got home but still managed to do my pilates. I'm brown bagging my lunch so as to avoid that oh so fatty cafeteria food. :)

Kim - Love your thought about whether hubby's think we're crazy. My husband, however is the one who kept trying to get me to watch what I eat. I have never been a very healthy eater and he wanted me to be healthy. Go figure :P

Stacey - Yay about renting your house out so you can move! That's what we did here in Phoenix. :) Bummer about the mean teacher, but I always tell my students it's a chance to practice for real life. There will always be times in life where your bosses are mean and unfair. This is their chance to practice dealing with a difficult situation while still being respectful. Also how to decide what situations to report and what ones you need to suck up and just plow through. :)

Amy - Ouch! I hope your knee gets better too!

Well, off to bed for an hour more of sleep before heading into work again. :( Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Wow Val, 1 hour of work, what are you doing? Extra money is always good.

Yesterday was busy, today will be busy. But I was able to squeeze in 30 min. of kickboxing yesterday, I literally feel like I'm starting my whole working out completely over, from being sick. I feel like I have to work back up to where I was before I got sick. But maybe this will jump start my plateau.

On another note, my oldest daughter brought home a piece of paper saying her and 40 other students were selected for a Bobcat Outdoors Program in May, she was selected because she fit into 1 of 3 or all 3 categories: below average grades, regular inappropriate behavior, or because she does not have the opportunity to be outdoorsy. WHAT!!! She is the furthest from any of these, she has all A's and B's, she has never had any inappropriate behavior at school, and we are very outdoorsy, we went on a hike on Sunday, I was a bit mad after reading this, so I emailed one of her teachers to find out what is going on, she said it is a selection process, she was nominated for this, does not know by who or why, but can only guess because Alexus is very quiet in school. Well still that does not make sense, so she said she talked to Alexus and let her know she is not in trouble, and that she will find out what is going on. YES please. If there is another student who fits into the categories I believe they should be elected for this, if they want Alexus to go because she is a "model" student, well then they should have told us, to be of the final 12 boys or 12 girls, the student has to improve on the 3 categories, well how can someone who has A's and B's improve her grades. Anyways enough ranting, maybe someone made a mistake who knows, it is a 3-day camping trip with the teachers, so will be lots of fun, I will leave it up to her if she wants to stay in the program.

So on that note my day begins, lots of working in the office and a dental cleaning at 5, ugh, I hate the dentist much more than going to the orthodontist. I won't make it back in time to make dinner before my hubby takes our son to boy scouts, so my daughter will be cooking some pizza in the oven, i'm only going to allow myself 2 pieces, yesterday I was under my calories, and I plan to stay that way. YEAH!

Hope you all have a great day!

Whoo hoo!!!!! I did it!!!! I made my goals yesterday. OK, I was a little short on the walking (1.8 miles instead of 2) and short on my water (8 cups instead of 9), but I did my exercise dvd warm up, circuit 1 and started circuit 3. Circuit 2 is way too hard right now, so I passed it for the moment. I didn't get through even half of circuit 3, but I'm so proud of myself for getting through the part I did. It was intense!! I also logged everything I ate yesterday. I was only over by just under 500 cals!! I'm not really "watching" what I eat right now as I continue to get my energy level & metabolism up, but I started logging to get myself back into the habit.

Dolphin - I can understand why you'd be upset about the letter. I would be too. I hope you get answers soon.

I'm hoping to make my goals today. The kids have piano & I have choir tonight, so I don't have as much time on Wednesdays. But I'm going to try.

    9 cups of water
    Exercise dvd
    walk 2 miles
    log everything

Great work everybody! Keep it up :)

I woke up this morning with sinus funk. Feeling kinda drippy back there. Blah! Today is running day. I took 2 airborne and I'll take some dayquill before leaving for rec center, and suck it up. The scale finally moved this morning, so now is not the time to drop the ball. Now is the time to kick the crap out of said ball. Hoping for another 1.4 lb loss by Saturday. I've been dropping .7 lbs the past few days, so 1.4 seems feasable.

Goals for today: Battle my mortal enemy (the treadmill), drink 120 oz of water, take a nap

making mini pizza tonight on earthgrain buns-- only 50 cals per za! I think I'll feel like I'm splurging with 4 slices. Maybe I'll stop by store for some lettuce & tomatoes and make a salad. Oh and a c-boost smoothie. I love those things!
  • Good morning ladies!

I have an unexpectedly "free" day today which feels nice. We were supposed to go to Music/ Art group but it was canceled for today so now we just have our regular work to do and then hopefully something fun. I can't wait for all this snow to melt so we can get outdoors more! I was able to get a Taebo workout in this morning but I really had to force myself...
Staying pretty low on carbs and I'm encouraged by a 2lb loss yesterday so I'll stick w/ it.
Last night I made a delicious dinner of salmon w/ dijon sauce, broccolli rabe and mashed sweet potatoes (not low carb but still good for me:wink: ). I made Tuna Casserole too b/c DH isn't a salmon fan. Everyone else ate the casserole so I have plenty of left overs for today.
I have a baby shower this weekend so I'm thinking about what I want to wear... My dilema is that the 16's are all unattractively loose (yay!!!) but the 14s are still unattractively snug. Curse this tummy roll! I'll find something.

Stacey- So glad everthing is working out for the move!! Praying it all goes smoothly as it gets closer.

Kim - Congrats on the new niece!

Amy - I hope your knee is feeling better and great job on yesterdays goals!!

Dolphin - From my experience w/ groups like that (mostly for younger kids) they often try to include peer models w/o letting anyone know so there is no animosity but if that's the case it certainly backfired by making your good student feel like she's done something wrong! I hope it all works out.

Nicole- What kind of protein powder did you get? I saw Biggest Loser Powder on sale the other day and was going to try it. I like Garden of LIfe but have to order it online.

Trish - i know you didn't post it on here yet but I saw your status. Congrats on the 2 lbs!!! You'll be lookin' fine by June for that wedding!

    Have a blessed day all!

    Gm Ladies!

Dolphin- I would be hot if my daughter got one of those letters. Kudos to you for going to the teacher right away about it.

Amy- Yay! for making your goals!

Trish- oh no! Gunk again? rest up my friend! Listen to your body.

Melissa- I got Nature's Plus Whey protein, chocolate flavored. It's not too bad tasting.

Val- Good for you! Extra money always helps!

Nicole, I blame it on my run Monday night. I didn't give myself time to unwind after we got home, so I didn't fall asleep till 4, got up at 7, went to bed at 10:30. No wonder I have funk & gunk again! Note to self: Give self time for adrenaline to edge off before going to bed. Too much adrenaline = no sleep for Trish.

Melissa, thanks for commenting on my loss. I'll whoop and holler when 35 changes magically into 50. :)
I'm happy the scale is moving, but no celebrating just yet.

Ran another 5 min interval... then proceeded to slowly die. 3 mins... 2 mins... 1 min... Eventually those will all be 5 mins across the board, and I will have a great big 20 min run. I will be strong. I will be fast.

Enjoying lunch now, then going to curl up in favorite hoodie on couch and die... I mean nap. Nap. Right. *Sings* Sinus funk go away, please don't come another day!

trish and melissa--that's great how the #s are coming down.
and amy--hope your knee is feeling better. ouch!

have not been mtg any of my goals. i'm upset but not too much. my focus is elsewhere. soooonnnn i will sit down and get myself re-organized. i've just had lots of other stuff on my mind.

Melissa, I found Larabars! We went to our local Good Earth store and got some homeopathic cold meds, and I whined at hubby for protein powder (I was 70 under my allowance today, and 80 yesterday) and green tea extract. I asked if they had Larabars, and the gal showed us where they were. I'm pretty sure they have every flavor they make. I got the PB&J flavor. Going through my daily menu now to see where I can squeak it in. Andy got an apple pie one. Looking forward to trying it.
I hope the green tea extract I got helps me beat my metabolism into submission. I'll tell you in 20 days if it helps at all (that's when I should finish the bottle).

Survived another day of work! I can't believe I used to do that full time! So exhausting. Teaching my own two kiddos is so much more rewarding. Part of the problem is when you are a full time teacher you have to be strict the first 2 weeks to let the kids know you mean business. After that you can relax a little bit and cut the kids some slack. When I sub every day is like the first day which means I have to be the super strict teacher every day. (Which was my least favorite time of teaching) Go figure. :P At least I don't have to go through all the lesson planning, making materials, coming up with interventions and behavior modifications for students who struggle, IEP testing and meetings, parent teacher conferences, staff meetings, making copies, notes home, calling parents or e-mailing them every time something tiny happens at school, and that's just the cliff notes version of everything these teachers have to do. I don't miss it! Yay for my kiddos! It was such a relief to come home to my two beautiful daughters who were so happy to see me. They know my expectations, and no matter how many times my kiddo may test me, it's not nearly as extreme as many of the students I've had to teach. They get away with murder at home and then expect the same at school. *roll eyes

Dolphin- I can't believe they sent a letter like that home! Whether or not students qualify for those reasons, the schools I work at usually have much more tact than to state that outright. You're more likely to get more positive participation if you don't start off by insulting their kids! Even when we request parents to come in for an IEP meeting (basically to place their child in special education) they are very sensitive to the fact that this is a parents child and is as gentle as possible. Some schools are just weird though....just like some teachers I've worked with :P

Well.....didn't get a work out in today. Today was a bit rough with about 28 kids who were all trying to push my buttons and not follow classroom expectations. Get home to have hubby head out the door for his work and make everyone dinner. Hubby decided it was taking too long for our 4 month old to eat her bottle so he gave her a really fast nipple. So of course after she leaves she starts cramping and screams her head off unconsolably for almost 4 hours. Poor Abby was so good for me, but I finally just had to put her and the other one to bed and take a moment to prevent myself from going insane! :P But I did bring my own lunch and ate breakfast at home so my calorie count was still under. Whew! Now it is time to go collapse into bed!

    Valerie
  • Nausea and headache yesterday after my work out. It lasted all day. I couldn't stomach anything most of the day and in the evening the only appealing thing was my Kashi Island Vanilla cereal w/ soy milk...it hit the spot  I'm feeling much better today and still made it to the gym although I only worked out 1/2 as hard as usual.

Val-Didn't have a workout?! 28 kids and a screaming baby when you got home is workout enough for a week! I hope today is super relaxing to balance yesterday...I was a teacher b4 my kids too and some days were definitely a workout!

Trish-enjoy your lara bar when you can fit it in! I hope your green tea extract works too. I tried to take green tea pills a few years ago but the caffeine in them was too much for me. I'm a wimp in that department. I was just pondering though, if a "weight loss" pill might be a good choice right now since I'm doing everything else right...

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good sports bra? What I have just isn't doing it's job, especially as I increase the intensity of my workouts. I'm not small chested so I need something w/ good support that will tame the beasts when I am jumping/ jogging.

I hope you all have a great day!

Just checking in, busy day ahead, as was yesterday, had a dental cleaning yesterday, I so HATE going to the dentist, I would much rather get my braces adjusted, but thats just me. I made it through teeth feel cleaner.

Still waiting on hearing back from the teacher, but my daughter is not upset anymore, I'm beginning to think they want her there as a role model, but they still need to have told us that.

Melissa, nausea and headache, does this happen often, or was it just a stomach bug? Once in a while I'll be working out hard and start to feel nausea, and I'll have to go down and get a cheese stick to finish my workout, but it usually helps.

Lara bars, I'm not sure I know what these are, are they similar to Odwalla Bars, I found some of those at our grocery store, I really like them, they seem to be full of good stuff, but high in calories for one bar.

Val, I seriously cannot believe you can go and sub, I give you Kudos!!!

Hope you all have a great day!!!!

Oh and Melissa, I don't have a good recommendation on a sports bra, as mine pretty much shrank when I lost the first 30 lbs. they just seem to have disappeared on me. After nursing 5 kids, and losing the weight, they look like empty milk sacks, ugh! I have heard of some women wearing 2 sports bra's at once, to help, but I would think it would be uncomfortable, do you have a sports shop of any kind that sells running clothes, maybe check there, good luck!

Melissa, can't give you much advice on sports bras, but I'm in need of one myself. My current bras are falling off my shoulders at their tightest strap setting. I have tried Danskin products for workout clothes, and will probably try them for bras too. I love my Danskin pants.
Just took my first 2 pills with breakfast. I mixed the protein powder with almond milk & shared banana with Grace. The pills I got aren't just green tea extract, they have a bunch of other vitamins and minerals too. We chose these over straight green tea extract (or even triple tea extract) because of that reason. It helps metabolize carbs better, and has mood and energy support. So I guess it's more than a supplement than just straight green tea extract. It's called Irwin Naturals System-Six
Hubs helped me pick them. He tends to have more common sense than I do ;)

Goals today: Biggest Loser workout, pick up friend Jazz to get work done in studio, drink 120 oz of water.

    Taco salad for dinner, yum!

Trish, does this green tea extract have lots of caffeine in it? I have heard a bit about green tea to help boost metabolism, but not sure how it works exactly. I am caffeine sensitive, have to really watch my caffeine intake, I get migraines if I have too much. I have been doing this lifestyle change, purely by hard work, and dedication, and have not used anything as far as diet pills, or anything like that but if I can take something that also has vitamins, etc in it to boost my metabolism, I would think that would be a good thing?

morning ladies! lots of reading. val--subbing and parenting--that is a lot of work!
and melissa, that's a shame you felt so icky yesterday from the workout. i hope you're feeling better today. i know you usually rest on sunday, but maybe give your body an extra day of rest today.??

yesterday boy and i spent hour at the park. weather was just perfect! i loved watching him play with the "big" boys. he just got right in there!
after school, we all went to another park with school folks and the kids played squirt guns. they had a blast!
dinner was popcorn and pizza and tv. b4 8pm i was ZONKED. i put the kids to bed and boy slept w/me after getting out of his bed 50bazillion times and i was OUT.

today is a full day incl literacy night at the school for NV Reading Week. I have a sitter coming to help--so i can get my haircut--and so i can leave boy at home for the school event.
i'm hoping to get cleaning done too.

    goals--Drink my water!!
    today or tomorrow--walk and stretch

hope everyone has a great day!:flowerforyou:

Because of some beliefs in my religion, I was really hesitant to take anything with caffeine, even though I was a long time soda drinker (gave it up in October-ish). This product does have caffeine in it.
System Six has 720 mg of cola (10% caffeine), and 100 mg green tea extract (another 10% caffeine). There were reviews online that some people sensitive to caffeine were okay while taking it.
Here's a link to it on amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Naturals-System-Liquid-130-Count/dp/B0006II6TS/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t

I got mine at my natural foods store. We've made some pretty major food changes in our home (converted completely to almond milk, no moo juice in the house and eat a lot more chicken and ground turkey and a lot less 4 legged critter), so I felt that I needed something to supplement some nutrients I was no longer getting in my daily diet. So I see these as more of a vitamin supplement with the added benefit of green tea.

One thing it has that one should really be careful about is St. John's Wart. So if you take any meds known to interact with that, then avoid this pill.

    gm ladies!

Melissa- I was thinking of you today during my run. I felt like I was going to throw up too, but it subsided. I know it was because I was pushing myself really hard. I also sometimes feel nauseated when I haven't drank enough water. Could that be the culprit? As for a sports bra- I use Moving Comfort Sports Bras. I am well endowed and they keep me fromgetting to jiggily!

Val- Kudos to you! I would be too exhausted too if I had to deal with other people's kids like that too!

Stacey- Your little one is growing up so fast!!!!

Trish- We use almond milk too. The only dairy we have in our house is the occasional goat cheese. I gound a goat chedder cheese that is awesome! We also eat mostly chicken and turkey. Occasionally I will get a roast or Hamburgers. I cooked a roast last night for dinner.

I ran 7 today with fartleks in the middle. I burnt Almost 1700 cals. I am struggling to eat the exercise cals, so I figured I would back off with the exercise videos on the days that I do runs, except for tomorrow. I am going to run 3 miles and do an exercise video.

We have a trackand field meeting at the middle school for Kyle today. We are definitely fortunate that he can participate in sports at the school.
You would be proud of me, I actually pulled some of the wallpaper off that I talked about doing last week! If I have time I will do more tomorrow.

    Goals for today:
Eat back as many exercise cals as I can
    Drink 120 oz of H20

Hello! I didn't make my goals yesterday because I just didn't have time. I was afraid that would happen. Until I can figure out how to fit in exercise on Wednesdays, I may need to use it as a rest day each week. At least I ate well! I was only over by about 200 cals!

What I didn't do yesterday, I seem to be making up for today. I had a little "adventure" with the kids this afternoon. I walked up to pick them up from school today. We had to go back in the school to get Samantha's jacket. We usually have to go back in once a week for something she's forgotten. We got about half way home when I noticed Will's lunch box wasn't hanging on the back of his backpack anymore. So we walked back all the way to where I picked them up. Found it! Then we walked home. I calculated it out using Google maps. I walked 2.4 miles today! And my wonderful children walked 1.7 miles with me without complaining!

My toe with the bone spur is starting to bother me though, so I'm sitting here with some ice on it for a while. I've come to the realization that I can walk all day long with my orthotic inserts on the treadmill or flat surfaces with no problems, but I need to slow down on the hills. I'm walking too fast for my toe.

I've got 5 more cups of water to drink today and I still have almost 600 cals to eat today! So I'm happy! I'm planning on still doing my exercise DVD, but that will be after the kids are in bed tonight. If I don't get the DVD in, that will be fine too. It depends on my toe.

Ugh, Amy, no fun. Have you talked to a po-doc about having the spur removed?
And wtg for your kids walking that far. I hated walking home as a kid. I was very lazy.

Had a very productive day in the studio. We had almost 3 ponies done, but the paint came off of one when we were trying to clean her up (get some dirt off) before shipping, and another one had a reaction with the sealant, so I had to sand it down and set waaay back, buuuut 2 other ponies got nice feet painted, and I did a bunch of white and pastel work on 2 others.
For those of you who don't know, I paint model horses for a living. It's more of a hobby really.

Didn't get to Wii BL, just decided to take it easy today. Want to conquer my sinus funk so I am strong and healthy enough to run tomorrow and Saturday. 90 ounces of water to go. It's snowing pretty heavily here. I hope hubs will get home safely. Maybe the bus driver will be nice & drop him at the corner by our mobile home park instead of the stop up the street.

Too tired to comment on everyone--You are all my encouragement to go on and not give up. Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't amazing cause you are!

Well they are dropping like flies in our house. Hubby went to a men's b'fast this morning came home & took a two hour nap. Oldest DS has a low grade fever, headache & no brain(fuzzy) and youngest DS has had a sore throat & headache all day. Been pushing the Emergen-C & Airborne today. Me and the girls seem to be okay

We head out of town again on Saturday so prayers for healthy people here are appreciated. I don't feel bad(yeah!) but I am so tired. Maybe it is coming--who knows. Regardless I am drinking an Emergency & going to bed to have a jump on it.

Only went over my calories by 200ish. Didn't drink enough water. Basically took today off and I am okay with that. I didn't go crazy I just didn't feel like caring today. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

    Goals

    WATER---8 glasses
    Walk/jog for 30 min
    GROUT the shower/tub area
    Order our vanity top!!!
Get everything ready for Saturday so I can go to bed early again.

amy and nicole--good work getting that exercise in--and recognizing your limits. amy--and what patience you showed for your kids!

kim, hope the folks get to feelin' better b4 saturday. it's no fun to travel with sickies, i'm sure. and exciting stuff for your bathroom--yay!

Well....caught up on all the chores I had been lagging behind in this week. Laundry is done and folded.....food is in the cupboards.....and I am heading to bed! Went out to eat, but only ended up being about 850 calories (and it was a decent meal!) Since we ended up eating so late it was a lunch/dinner with a small snack at the end of the day left me under my goal without working out! :P Tomorrow I sub again, but hopefully this will be the last day for a while! :P Then I can get back into my normal routine. :)

You all are a wonderful support! I almost pigged out on a couple of pieces of cake the other day, but looked up the calories in it and it would be about 1000!!!!! That cured me for any desire to eat it! It's so great to have a resource like this to keep me so aware of what I put into my mouth! :P

Well....off to work! You all are fabulous ladies!!!

TGIF!!!! I finally was able to workout for an hour yesterday and I felt great, I did 35 min. of kickboxing and 30 min. on the Elliptical, this was the type of stuff I was doing before I got sick, felt so good, and I'll be heading up to the slopes this weekend, either skiing or snowboarding, depending on which kids tag along.

Hubby and I went to Olive Garden last night with some friends, because I exercised I was able to eat 1 serving of salad, 1 breadstick, had the Venetian Apricot Chicken and 1 glass of wine and only went over my calories by 97!!!! Great for me, if anyone has been to Olive Garden, you know how easy it is to way overeat there, the food is so good. I feel very proud of myself.

Today, another 1 hour workout, and keep drinking all that water, yesterday I probably drank around 90 oz of water.

I'm currently stuck in a size 14 jeans, they are just a little big, but the size 12 are too tight, so my goal is to really try and get into a size 12 jeans by my bday, which is the end of this month, and we'll be in Las Vegas with the kids for spring break, so I have lots of clothes I would love to wear down there.

Trish, Stacey and Kim, definitely take care of yourselves, and your loved one's, it is no fun being sick, Kim I hope everyone feels well so you can travel on Saturday, and I have no other advice, seems like your doing everything you can to get them healthy.

    Have a wonderful day!!!!

Ugh, Stacey, DON'T GET SICK! Rest, rest, rest. Sinus gambu SUUUUUCKS! Still dealing with it myself.

Well it went from being sunny & 50 the last few days to dumping snow on us. I'm watching it fall now. We even had a power outage a few minutes ago. Park managers are plowing our roads frequently. I am kinda put off about going to gym for morning workout because of it.
Hubby is coming home early today, so I will probably go then.

I have good news and not so good news. When I logged in on Wii Fit this morning, my board says I lost 1.4 lbs. THAT'S GREAT! Not so good news: home scale didn't agree. It said I lost nothing. So I hit the reset on it. It said I gained 4 lbs. Then it said I was 212. Uh... WHAT? This was with new batteries in. I don't know who to believe. Usually they agree on these things. Grace has been playing with the feet on the wii board, so maybe I will retest in a bit here.

Everyone stay healthy and warm, okay?

Stir Fry for dinner tonight. Yum!
