Heavy family weighing you down?

Holly, We all have 'family' pretty much in common. You want them to be healthy too but I think the biggest part of you wants them to accept the new you and the new habits you are trying to acheive as you are accepting them with the love you have for them.
I think our families get a little jealous sometimes of us. I go thru the same thing with my sister. Nothing I can do can change her, there isn't anything I can say that is going to sway her into changing her eating habits. I just have to love her for her and be here for her when she does need me and I want her to accept me and my eating habits the same way.
She is coming up to see me the end of this month for a week and I am really concerned. I don't cook the way she does. I don't use a lot of salt, or cheese, or fried foods or beef, pork. I use Turkey meat alot. I eat a turkey burger when I want a burger. I don't eat french fries, I don't use eggs, whole milk, sausage or bacon. And she knows this, so it will be a real challenge!
So, do any of you have any suggestions for me!? LOL
Holly just love your family and let them see you succeed. That could be the factor to sway them more than anything else.

Im Italian...my whole life has always revolved around food. I will say...I am the only one in my family who is obese. My family isnt healthy by any stretch of the imagination. We used to do a lot of unhealthy take-out and our cooking included a lot of meat and a lot of frying. I decided to change that. Events still revolve around food. My sister's birthday was yesterday and I cooked up a feast for her. BUT I changed things/ingredients to make the dishes healthier and I put a limit to what I ate.
I dont expect to change my family. The choices they make are their own. My brother will always go out for wings on Tuesdays. I cant and wont stop him from doing that but I CAN and WILL stop myself from eating what he brings home. If we order take out, I make healthier choices for me. The kids still want the fast food, and I say no every time. Food is very personal and I always resented people telling me I needed to lose weight or that what I was eating was no good for me. I try not to do that to anyone at home because I know how hurtful it can be. I now just try to lead by example.0
