Coagulated Ketchup

When you squeeze out some ketchup, do you allow any coagulated ketchup that has accumulated near the bottle's aperture to fall onto your food along with the freshly squeezed ketchup coming out?

If not, do you move it to the side before squeezing? Do you wipe it off before squeezing?

Please note that any remarks about not liking ketchup or that it should be spelled "catsup" will promptly be reported to the site moderators as "Attacking/Insulting other users". Thank you.

No. Coagulated ketchup is awful. It is the same texture as dried snot.

I squeeze into the sink or trash first, and then onto my food.

I'm not big on ketchup, but this pertains to mustard as well... mustard squeezybottles get these little hard-hats of dried mustard, it's like peeling off a scab.

Ketchup doesn't coagulate on the rim of the bottle, because I wipe it off as soon as it's been misplaced. It's sloppy to close the lid on it and leave it for someone else. Rude, too!

Well, Miss Manners, not EVERYONE is living in a PALACE where ketchup does not coagulate. I suppose your housekeeper does this for you when your butler is too busy running your bath. Hmph.

I kind of threw up a little after thinking about that. I hate that. I try to wipe the bottle after use so it doesn't settle over and over. Ew.

Ignore her misskortney. She clearly can't handle the fact that everyone's ketchup is different and that yours is special.

Don't be silly, my butler wipes the condiment bottles while my housemaid runs the bath. Consuela does the chores.

Next thing you're going to be telling me is that you rinse off vegetables and continue cooking with them when they fall on the floor!

I always wipe the bottle when I am done with it so that doesn't happen, if I am out I will wipe the bottle before squeezing (and always give it a little shake so you don't get any of that watery stuff on my food) ;)

Not only does that stuff have a nasty texture, but so does the watery ketchup pre-cum that comes out of that first squeeze.

    Urgh!

    Gotta toss it of course!

I believe that you are referring to the water that separates from the ketchup within the bottle. We are discussing the coagulated (hardened) ketchup that forms at the opening of the bottle.

The catsup in my house is stored upside down in the fridge, the bottle shaken before being squeezed and I wipe the top with a paper towel if it needs cleaned before being returned to the refridgerator. I prefer mustard, but the process is the same for the mustard bottle.

Well, I could chance what the kids would use to 'clean' the bottle, but I think I am safer finding it later!
