Exactly what is MFP good for??

If you are not using it to track your calories? Exercise or food, whatever. In an earlier post, several posters tried to say you don't need to track your calories, this that or the other to lose weight. Just exercise and eat better and you will lose.

But what good is MFP to you if you are not tracking calories, etc...?

    Whatever thread you were in where people said they don't need to track your calories you should almost certainly ignore them. Were they new members? We're getting a lot of crap around here these days.

    Now it's true there are some people who don't, hell right now I'm not. But I'm bulking so I get to eat alllll the food.

    But this is a calorie counting website. Calorie counting is the most effective method of weight loss. So anyone telling you different I would pay them no mind.

    MFP is good for wasting a lot of time when you should be working...


    But it's also for counting calories and tracking exercises. Which is the best use.

    It was a response this guys rant. One person made the statement and several agreed. I don't think they were new, but didn't have profile pic of themselves up and didn't show any results. So, I know that I shouldn't follow their advice.

    I was just wanting to know the thoughts or reason why.

    I agree... and particularly since I have been taught for the past ten years, that those that lose weight and keep it off successfully are those that track their food intake.

    It's good for tracking calories.

    Don't trust anyone with a membership to a calorie tracking website that doesn't inherently believe in tracking calories.
    (There are some exceptions- like people who have hit goal and are trying to learn to eat intuitively- but they still believe in tracking, they just want to stop doing it)
