How did I get here?

This has taken a lot of courage for me to write, but I thought I'd post it so I can be more accountable.
The name is Rosee, I'm 22 and from Australia and i am FAT.
I have been nearly all my life. I was bullied about it all through school. I've never been happy with my body.
Over the past few years my weight has ballooned - I've gained 40+ KG in three years and don't even recognise my body anymore. It doesn't feel like mine.
I've decided to make the necessary change to take my body back, treat it right and lose this weight that has been holding me back.
I didn't take proper note of my stats until about 3 weeks in. I am 175cm (5'9'') tall and weigh 147kg (325lb!!!!).
The realisation of how HUGE I have let myself get really hit me like a tonne of bricks when I realised how much I weighed - before this I last weighed in at 110kg....3 years ago.
I don't how how much I want to lose, just that I need to lose a lot. Any guidance or help would be appreciated. Feel free to add me as a friend
also adding my "before" photos (please forgive the underwear) so I have something to remind me of what I'm working to change

Thank you I already feel miles better and it's only been a few weeks0 -
Go girl!!!
Well done, you are taking the first step to a happy, healthy and gorgeous you and sometimes its the hardest one to take!!!
And when it gets tough, as it will, just remember what you are doing it for and come on MFP for some inspiration, support and the opportunity to scream a little!!!
Good Luck0 -
Welcome to MFP and good luck on your weight loss journey!0
-
You can do it!0

My journey on mfp has been amazing. I have been here for 6 months and I have lost 22 pounds. This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. You joining is the first step in becoming a happier healthier you. Welcome.0

Welcome
I find it so easy to keep control of my Calories (my son says Calorie counting doesn't work, this may be why I am going to pas on my now outsized clothes to him?)
So much stuff must have been creeping under my food-radar before I started telling my "Confessor" EVERYTHING I ate every day.
My wife says it works where so many "Diets" have failed for me (or I for them) before because this involves a computer. You see, in 1983 we bought a ZX Spectrum and with a 5 year old son, a 3 year old daughter and a wife there was finally something in the house that did what I told it to do - and I have played with computers ever since.
- AND here we are, having moved along the wardrobe rail to the stuff that was a bit tight to the stuff that was way too tight last Summer and having to buy new clothes because even those trousers are in danger of falling down.
Good luck0 -
Hi Rose, and welcome!
Kudos to you for taking the first step.
Best advice I was given? Don't think about the big picture. Set small goals, preferably non-scale related, and work for those. And celebrate every one of them!
Good luck to you! :flowerforyou:0 -
I will add you Rose. You remind me so much of myself. seeing your story was like hearing my own.0
-
You are at the right place then... Yesssss!!! you can do it!0
-
I'm very proud of you you've taken the biggest step by coming here. Now things will only get better!
:flowerforyou:
Good luck!0 -
you've got this-take it one day, or one meal at a time. I don't have as much to lose-but i do empathize and know how hard my own journey is. for me concentrating on the now, and what i can control today-or right now-helps me stay focused. all my best, feel free to add me0
-
I thought the same at the beginning of the year when i started! I've took loads of pictures and wrote a blog so i can look back and think ' do i really want to feel like this again?'.
You can do it! Good Luck and Chin Up x0 -
Congrats on taking these steps!!! You're in the right place!!!0
-
Set yourself some small goals to get started. Build momentum and you reach each small goal. Before you know it, you'll be posting pics with significant changes!!
And remember, you need a healthy body to carry you through life. However, YOU are more than what a number on a scale says. IT does not define who you are.
You can do this!!!0 -
Oh? And don't let scale related scare you off - just take 10% of your starting body weight as your first goal, then when you reach that set the next goal of 10% of the weight you reduced to.
Body Scales are a useful tool as long as you don't let them become a tyrant. (Kitchen scales are ESSENTIAL) Your tape measure is probably more sympathetic,though.0 -
Welcome and I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey.0
-
Welcome you found the site ! It takes alot courage to start and you have started ! Good luck and feel free to add if you like!0
-
You are in the right place. I admire your bravery. I am so sorry you were bullied. You can do this, just remember to follow MFP guidelines, don't starve yourself and ask questions if you need it.
Welcome to a new life.0 -
Welcome and best of luck. It's a long road, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. I've been here for a week or so and I'm already on track to meet my goals. It's surprising how just keeping track of what you're eating will make you change your habits quickly.0
-
Welcome! Just remember, you are not on this journey alone! Lean on everyone here -
I agree with small goals (makes it more reasonable - for me, if my main goal is my total loss wanted, I would feel like that is unattainable - even though I now it isn't), so 10% is my first goal as well.0 -
I would love to be friends. Your story reminds me so much of my own. I'll send you a request!0
-
First, congrats on coming here and stating that you wanted to change and posting pictures (I didn't have the courage to do it myself).
I'm wishing you good luck and I hope you'll do amazing
I really think the trick is to have an "enough is enough" moment and then commit to the program. Mfp really works if you really put time and effort into changing your whole lifestyle. You can do it!!
Feel free to add me and I'll be supportive
Have a great day xx

Welcome Rosee! I was on that same path. I have a good long way to go myself, but I am finally doing it. I am finally starting to feel less hateful towards my body and that makes it easy to take proper care of it. I have a trainer that did my measurements (body and body fat...yuck) and I started out at 290 lbs and they want me to end up at 190 lbs. I have a lot of lean muscle, it's just the fat that hides it.0
-
Brave Girl that you are, to commit to being accountable to yourself. MFP is great for keeping track and insight. Best of luck to you!0
-
Don't beat yourself up for the past. The important thing is that you have recognized that something needs to be done and you are going to make it happen! This site is very easy to use -- just make sure you log everything you eat and get a support group around you. You are very brave to admit how much you weigh and to put these pictures on your post. You can do this! Time to get healthy. We are all here to support you!0
-
welcome!! YOU CAN DO THIS0
-
i think you are beautiful, you can do it. I started at 310lbs and have a remarkably similar body shape... i hate those bits under my bra on myback even more than my belly.
the first time i droped 140lbs, but i wasnt ready for it, things happened i wasnt expecting so i started again 4 months ago at 289lbs, im now down to 245 feeling a lot better about myself, eating well, back to exersizing again though thats only recent because at the start i didnt want to pressure myself an just wanted to focus on food.
i have bad days and good days, i suffer from the cold a great deal now, but i have smaller clothes, i feel so much healtheir.
it doesnt happen fast, it does happen at the speed thatis right for you, experiement and see what works for you0 -
Congrats on taking the first step to change your life! We will all the be here to give you all the guidance and support you need! This is a difficult process, I struggle everyday with eating the right foods and finding my way to the gym. It just makes things so much easier to see that I am not the only one who needs that little extra encouragement to find my way to being healthy and happy! I will add you and we can help each other!0

Hi Rosee,
So glad that you found yourself here. This is a step in the right direction. I have been where you are and while the task seems daunting, it is achievable.
I just want to share some things that I struggled with initially. I hope this will help you avoid some of the mental pitfalls because, honestly, it is our own thinking that holds us back.
* This won't happen overnight. In the spring, I will have been working on this for two years, and I'm STILL not where I want to be. I do not anticipate reaching my goals until year 3 so don't let impatience get you discouraged. Stay motivated.
* Make friends. This site has a great social element to it. They can motivate you, inspire you, and guide you through this difficult process. I would not have the success that I have achieved thus far without the fantastic people on my friend's list.
* Log in every single day. Even if you ate crap and don't have the courage to log your food (even though you should keep yourself accountable) seeing others' success will drive you to keep going.
All my best. :flowerforyou:0
