Not all men I know but...

I don't think it is funny at all...however, I do agree with the poster, I think it is not AS common to see the woman the the gym squatting using correct form. I think there are reasons behind this: there is a misconception about heavy lifting "bulking" women up, I don't see as many women lifting heavy and those that are, seem to be doing it wrong. However, there are a lot of men doing it wrong as well, just to be fair.
This is accurate.0 -
The guys at my gym get sad when my wife out squats and deadlifts them. And oh do they stare!0

the only funny squats are on a smith machine without any added weight0

I wasn't trying to be negative. I was only stating that it's rare. I see just as many guys deadlifting incorrectly as women. I just don't see alot of women squating with the barbell period b/c of the fear of the whole bulking thing. Geez calm down people.
You're fine. I wasn't offended by what you said at all, and I'm a lifter. I don't know why it's a crime to state the obvious.
Lifting is far more prevalent among the male population; thus, a lot of men are surprised to see a woman using a squat rack. Bros who mostly just do curls may find it funny, but I don't think men who are serious lifters view it that way. I think if it's a woman whose form is good, they probably have a lot of respect for that. It's just not common in most gyms. That doesn't mean it never happens or that all women are bad at squatting.
I see a lot of women doing body weight squats on stability balls, and they're squatting onto their toes. I'd hate to see them put a bar on their shoulders if that's how they're going to squat. And what's worse is a lot of them have trainers watching them do it.0 -
At the gym I train in, females use the squat racks for squats and/or cleans a lot more often than the men. Guess it depends on your locale and gym.0

Okay. We get it. You squat, lift, and quite possibly have a nice "snatch". Men should be scared, intimidated, and should run out of the gym with their tail between their legs ASAP. Women who lift weights should be put on a pedestal, and men should worship them, even in cases of improper form being utilized. Ooohhh. A woman who lifts weights....Sooo rare. Everybody, bow down.

Also, the only thing I ever see them do with women is stuff like swinging a dumbell (like, literally swinging it... bad for joints!!!) or doing that thing where you pass the stability ball overhead between your feet and hands while lying down, and I'm like, no no no no no. Never see them doing any actually lifting exercises with them.
Not this one...I almost drooled when I saw that he had one girl bench pressing. And he regularly has the same lady using 20lb+ dumbbells for different stuff...or doing stuff with the cable cross machine.
When I had issues with the cable cross machine ( I'm short and the cable kept pressing into my arm funny) he suggested 1 arm chest presses with a dumbbell--25lb to start for me!0 -
I have found that in many sports/activities that have traditionally been men's activities, a higher percentage of women have good form than men.
I have coached men's and women's high school rugby and also seen a lot of women in the gym.
The women tend to not feel the need to pretend they know what they are doing and are more open to coaching.
Many guy's think it threatens their manhood if they don't walk in like they own the place.
(edit: and I don't know about laughing. admiring maybe, but not laughing. )

Because your hips may not lie, but they do occasionally tell dirty jokes.0
