Seems like common sense to me! And has been true in my life--eating "clean" and "healthy" for me is a way to feel full, and therefore eat less calories, so I lose weight. But it also has other benefits (feeling healthier, etc than eating 1300 calories worth of cheetos or something!)

Agree. Calorie deficit = fat loss. No calorie deficit = no fat loss. Except for sugery.

Hold your shirt on, there's still time for someone to come in here and talk about how cals in/cals out "doesn't work for everybody."

I've been trying to explain all this to my cousin, who recently lost 7 lbs on that "three-day diet" where you basically just eat broccoli, tuna, weiners, and ice cream for three days. She swears that it's the combination of foods that "pulls fat off of you," rather than the fact that she lost some water weight because she went from eating 3000 calories per day to roughly 800.

Frankly I'm surprised that the man in this article was able to actually consume 1800 cals of Twinkie etc. before puking it up or going into a sugar coma...

    But great find!

Its funny everyone asks me howd you loose the weight response, i reply watch what I eat and excersise on a regular basis. I had someone the other day at work tell me banannas will make you fat I looked at him and said no eating more than you burn will make you fat.

It kind of flies in the face of "eat more to lose weight!"

I had someone the other day at work tell me banannas will make you fat I looked at him and said no eating more than you burn will make you fat.

I recently overheard a woman at a restaurant talking about how she was going to do HCG. The guy she was eating with suggested that was a little extreme and asked if she had ever tried the Atkins Diet. She said "Um, the Atkins Diet tells you to eat bacon. I am not doing any diet that allows you to eat bacon."

And I remember thinking to myself "So you think eating bacon is crazy, but eating 500 calories a day and taking pregnancy hormones isn't?"

That's how you tell the difference between people who are going to make it and people who will give up.

No, it doesn't. The article says you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Eat more to lose more uses a deficit from your TDEE. i.e. Eat less than you burn and you'll lose.
