Sadly - 'Puppy Love' was the first I bought, but it got better with my second being 'Bohemian Rhapsody', on special order as a 10/11th birthday.

I've never bought one cause I was too young to have my own money back then, but the first one I owned was a Fraggle Rock soundtrack.

The first LP I ever bought was The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour". It was $3.99 plus tax...big money for a kid back then. The movie was not shown in the US till many years later, but the album included a comic book style story of the movie so at least you could figure out the significance of the songs.

used to get 45 singles as a kid...i remember getting Men At Work's Down Under and Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart...i think I have like 50 45rpm singles somewhere at dad's house.

Then moved on to cassette singles, then CD singles, then downloads.

I think Rick Springfield, Jessie's Girl. Might've been Blondie though.

That was mine too! Rick Springfield ~ Working Class Dog (which has Jesse's girl) & Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet. Bought both albums at the Rick Springfield Concert on October 8, 1984 at the Concord Pavillion. Damn, I can't believe I still remember all that.

Either Don McLean's American Pie, or Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music. Not sure which one was first, but I played the hell out of both of them.

I do remember that Boston's self titled debut was my first 8-track

Several years later, I became a DJ at a local night club and all we had were records.
I ponied up and bought a reel to reel player for happy hour (so I could chill) and just before I joined the Army, we started to make the change over to CD's.
Now my 22 year old Son used nothing but CD's as a DJ in Austin, TX.

The Beautys-- "Girl from planet fu ck"

They were my favorite local band for a long time. I picked that 7" up at a little underground shop that is no longer there. Le sigh.
