    yeah i figured. :P

it's called pescetarian, and many people do it. my only concern personally would be the high amounts of mercury (if wild fish) and the high levels of omega 6 fatty acids if farmed. in a perfect world, fish only is an amazing way to go, but unfortunately because of farming methods and water pollution, it's only advisable if you do your research and focus on sustainably farmed or caught fish. If you just grab the farmed stuff, you'll need to supplement with omega 3's

False. Fish don't have feelings. That's why it's ok to eat them.

What did fish ever do to you? You know that people who exhibit anti-fish aggressive personality disorder often have traumatic fish-related childhood experiences? I think counseling is in order.

    BTW, sorry for derailing OP.

Are you thinking this is just a short term thing until you get over being sick of meat, or are you thinking it's a permanent change? My answer would be different depending on which way you mean it.

Does this mean they don't eat eggs or nuts or veg based proteins? Or that the just don't eat other 'meats'?

it's whatever they decide they want it to mean. :P

but generally it covers other meats (veg protein/nuts are fine) - i'm actually not sure about the dairy/eggs question though.

I was pescatarian between switching from vegetarian (lacto-ovo) to eating meat. It was for a few months, though I don't know how long exactly. I would suggest supplementing your diet with eggs, tofu, veggie burgers, beans and nuts to make sure you get protein without having to eat a ton of fish. The whole mercury thing, and all...

Most people who eat pescetarian actually eat a mainly vegetarian diet to avoid te mercury issue. You'd only have fish a few times a week depending on te mercury content of the fish.

I'm pescetarian and have been for well over 15 years.
Luckily I live where wild, sustainably harvested fish is available year round, as in we can go down to the docks and buy the fish right from the people who caught it if we so choose.

We follow the Monterey Bay aquariums fish watch list which is available online. It's separated into the different regions of the U.S. and is continually updated.
    Here is the link: http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/download.aspx

I probably eat seafood 3-4 nights a week, the other nights being all veggie based dinners. I have zero concern over mercury levels in what I consume.

My diary is open to see the different seafood I'm lucky enough to be able to have. Let's hear it for Alaskan salmon, Dungeness crab, Yellowfin tuna, and pacific halibut--yum!

that's a great app, and i'm jealous! if I could I'd do the very same thing.

(though isn't yellowfin tuna one of the least sustainable fish?)

Sure it's brilliant, can you eat celery or nuts though, and what about snickers, are they out?

OP, can we please keep this thread on topic? Perhaps that comment belongs in its own thread. :)
