Need an incredible motivator? Try this!!

Yesterday I went for a walk carrying a five pound weight- the amount of weight I have lost so far. It was incredible to hold the weight in my hand and really think about the fact that that was how much weight has already come off of my body. I can't tell you what a motivation it was to hold that weight in my hand, and then set it down and really feel it gone from my body. I can't recommend this more highly if you are in need of a little motivation. It made me proud of ditching those first five pounds. I've got a ways to go, but I can't wait to drop some more!! Fired UP!

Thanks, congrats to you too! 13 pounds is awesome!
  • That sounds like an excellent motivator! Being able to feel the weight you lost in a more tangible way. Sounds like a great way to put it all into perspective!

That is the best idea ever!!! Way to go!
  • What a great motivational idea!!! keep it up!
  • Once I get the 80+lbs off of me, I'm going to grab a little kid (most likely one of my cousins) and carry them around for a few minutes to remind myself that I never want to get in that position ever again!

For me to do this, I'd have to carry around a barbell with a couple of 35 lb plates, on it... It is a thought... but I don't think I'm gonna do that anytime soon.. LOL> Great idea.

the other inaccuracy of this for me is that with the 119 lbs I'd be carrying around, my heart, joints and muscles are still stronger and not having to push through all that fat anymore... But it would give an idea.... :-)
  • What a great inspiration!

Seriously, you should try it... Even for a few seconds. It will blow your mind. I couldn't believe that 5 pounds would have felt like anything
  • Just like on Biggest Loser! :D
I might try that. But I've lost 20 lbs so I know I think that's gonna be tough...

I've lost 72 pounds in 12 months....... any suggestions on how I carry that with me all day? No thanks, my body could not cope with it when it was on me. I'm all the motivation I need. I can see it.

Ha ha, I was 200 lbs when I was able to do my first pull-up since high school. Since then I've been adding the weight I lose to a weight belt for when I do them. It is a real reminder of the weight I've lost.

Wow going for a walk with an extra 38lbs sounds like a nightmare! I can't believe I used to do that every single day....I guess it would explain why I would struggle to get dressed in the morning without breaking a sweat!

That's a great idea, although for me, carrying around 53 pounds while walking would be a pain in my *kitten* haha. Maybe I'll try two 5lb dumbbells though. Great going! ^_^

i did this using a weighted vest weighing 40lbs, the amount of weight i have lost. Then i tried walking on an incline on the treadmill.
Oh boy, was that a revelation as to how much strain excess weight puts on your system!!
At my target weight now and it's impossible to describe how energised, healthy and great I feel compared to when i was that heavy. It's worth all the pain a million times over.
