I mean we as individuals have a choice if we want to participate in any such event. I mean how many life altering injuries on a percentage wide on all players are affected? I mean most of us drive our cars to and from everyday and that is not outlawed. Driving is one of the most if not the most dangerous event we can do that will have a life altering injury or even perishing from a collision. I mean am I missing something here?
Also think about the huge financial impact this will have on our economy. Company's that make the protective gear, staff / coaches on levels will now be out of a job, company's making team memorabilia, colleges losing out millions from ticket sales. I mean I think this causes way more harm then good.

As the previous two said, it will never happen.
But I do believe technology and money needs to go into better protective equiptment.
The lifelong injuries these players sustain me makes me quite sad. However, let's not lie to ourselves.
These men I think know what they are signing up for.0 -
i blame the democrats.0

I sure the hell hope it will not but when lawmakers are thrown into the mix WTH knows what will happen. A very sad day it will be here in the U-S of A. :sad:0 -

The governement has their hands full with outlawing guns right now. I guess the only real fear we have with football is that it's not part of the constitution.0

i blame the democrats.
you have it right on!! when we play sports there is always a risk of injury.0 -
If you want to solve the concussion problem in football, get rid of helmets. Dummies will stop leading with their heads, and learn to protect themselves better.0

There were far fewer serious injuries when there was less protective equipment. If they got rid of the helmets and went back to the old leather caps....the players would stop launching themselves at each other like missiles, and there woudl be far fewer head injuries. And if they would just go back to good old fashioned tackling, wrapping up and dragging to the ground rather than just trying to hit someone as hard as they can....that would help as well.
I beleive less technology and equipment is the answer.0 -
As long as there is a demand for it there will be those willing to supply it. Owners, franchises, vendors, marketing etc. make far too much money off of football for it to be outlawed. All else fails there will be some interesting bootlegging football games if it is banned!0

all football ever did for me was get me strong, in shape, and teach discipline and teamwork.
What a horrible game...0 -
straw man is made of straw0

WHomever says this is "because of the democrats" in any seriousness whatsoever should have to play a helmetless football game with Suh, after telling him his mamma wears combat boots.0

Seriously? No Sarcastaball references?
I'm the only one???

as a Rugby League player who had a go at American Football, I can honestly say I think all the equipment in AF makes the game more injury prone, just my opinion of course.0

It has always puzzled Britons why you feel you need to wear a suit of armour to play some strange game of rugby that appears to take all afternoon.0 -

Rugby is a badassed sport.0 -
I think the author makes a huge leap in assumptions for the sake of the article, and the OP takes those assumptions and amps it up more just to get people to get up in arms.
If football goes by the wayside, it will be because if its own doing, like boxing. Maybe participation numbers drop because of the violence, and over time, the sport goes away.0 -
Just let them play ball.....0

Concussions are all Bush's fault.....just ask the democrats.0

Yeah. You're the only one who thought of sarcastaball. What a genius you are! It couldn't be because people didn't want to be redundant, could it?0 -

People are way too obsessed with football these days. It will always exist because of this. I despise how obsessive people get!0
