Under my bariatric doctors orders i am on a low carb(vitamin dense)/high protein diet. have looked around but there seems to be no recipe or snack ideas for that kind of lifestyle. can anyone help me?
You aren't looking too hard. Google "low carb diets" or "Primal" or "Paleo"
Or better yet enter those on Amazon and buy the cookbooks that appear. The internets are truly magical.
As for a productive response to the OP, I've been on Keto (or low-carbing) for a while...
I recently stumbled upon this site: http://www.skinnytaste.com/search/label/Low Carb Recipes
(Pinterest has a better layout of options from Skinny Taste): http://pinterest.com/skinnytaste/skinny-low-carb/
Also, take a look at Atkin's branded items at the store. They offer some pretty solid items that almost taste like treats. Good luck, let me know if you need any advice because I'll actually respond with something you can use.
Paleo/primal are, in their essence, founded on the same PRINCIPLES as the original low carb diets and are actually a good place to start as long as you have your own numbers in mind (your daily allotted carbs, protein needs, etc). They aren't evil, and I personally found some of the stuff from their philosophy useful while doing my own LC research. And if I were you, OP I would steer clear of those processed junk bars and shakes. They're a waste of calories and won't fill you up like real food. The best benefit of low carb/atkins IMO is the ability to tailor it to eating CLEANLY. Meaning, no processed crap. Even if it has a fancy name brand label on it, it's still processed crap.0 -
Random reply, but EXCITED, because we both use Nyan Cat for our tickers and we posted one after another! :-D0

It is difficult looking for low carb recipes when you are are bariatric patient. Low carb processed foods is something many of us need to stay away from. They are usually higher in fat and sugar which can really play havoc on our pouches. Not good.0

1 Can of flaked light tuna in water (drained)
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup arugula
1/2 cup tat choi
1/2 cup red and green swiss chard
1/4 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup shredded red cabbage
1/4 cup shredded parsnip
1 cup brocolli
Add any dressing if you want any at all and this is a fairly low carb but high protein meal (can serve 2 people) and is super low in calories.0 -

my go-to's were greek yogurt with nuts and dried fruit for a snack, or some eat good look great protein bars, i'd also have tuna made with hummus and veggies on cucumbers as a snack or light lunch, for dinners i pretty much RELIED on baked salmon with steamed veggies (usually zucchini and mushrooms with spinach because i love carbs and they are delicous).0
