Today for the first time ever I tried doing a plank. I've decided never again, I hurt myself
But at least I tried!0 -
Yes. Thinking that I had to lose 50 - 60 pounds at first was daunting, and it sounded impossible. Going through diet / exercise for months and still having a lot of extra fat around my waist, legs, and arms was not fun either. But I am close to goal now, and I think anything is possible. if you just focus a little on health every day, rather than think of a goal then it makes it SO much easier.0

I think everyone does... But anything is possible and, "even if you don't see the progress you want, theres no point in stopping".
We all want to easy way out, unfortunatly thats not the best way, and is most likely not the perminent way to keep the weight off.
Starting out, were all like sort of obsessed with it (at least i was) I was so strict, could only eat certain things... and you just slowly stop stressing so much.. and i think there comes a time when you don't even think about it all anymore, your just healthy, its just your life and you dont have to try as hard as you used to... And i think once you reach that point is when you see the most progress. Not because you lose weight quicker.. It's because you arnt living to lose weight, your just living.. and then you just sort of realize your losing weight! If that makes sense...lol.
These are just all my thoughts... but just whatever you do, DONT GIVE UP!0 -
It creeps in the back of my mind every now and then. But I've made it this far so I'm not about to give up now.0

Yes, I felt like that a few times, and then I shook it off and got my head in the game!
If you don't do it, and then look back a year from now, you'll regret it. The time will pass either way, it's up to you how you spend that time. Being unhappy with how you see yourself, and doing something about it?0 -
Hells yes! I try not to think about the enormity of it all and just focus on daily and weekly goals.0
-
Ha, of course we all do! We all stumble and we all fall, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
Remember that the fact that you're even on this site means you've already made the first step. So congratulate yourself and be proud of that.
Take small steps in trying to decrease caloric intake - don't go from an average of 2000cal to suddenly 1200cal. That's setting yourself up for failure and hopelessness.
Take small baby steps and with patience, you'll get the body you want.
3-6 weeks before you judge.0 -
No. I know I can do it. If I had a negative attitude I prolly woulda given up by now.0

My new mantra is 'consistency is key' (also 'f*** this fat sh**' but I digress). I get discouraged because it doesn't all happen at once. I know it's going to take FOREVER but guess what? Time will pass whether you're working toward this goal or not so you might as well stick to it! That way three years after you got serious :points to self: you won't be saying, "If I'd just kept going I'd be there by now!"0

Every day! As you can see, I want to lose a total of 104 pounds and that is a LOT. And even that will put me on the high side of my healthy weight range. But as you can also see, I've done 12 pounds. Every day deep down I feel like I can't do, it's too much, too hard, will never get there. But every day I tell myself I CAN and I WILL. Take it one day at a time. One meal at a time. One workout at a time. You remind yourself every day every hour every minute that you are worth the best you can be xD0

Thanks guys for the motivational answers!0

First of all this is one of the best and most positive forums I have read in a long time.
I definitely feel this way all the time and especially right now, but I just keep going because the only way to get where I want to go is to move forward. And I try to remember that this process isn't linear. And when I slip or can't do it for myself I still feel accountable to my MFP friends and press on. You are doing awesome so just keep going.0 -
Most of the time. But I do it anyway.0

Try to change your mindset. Instead of looking at this as a way to lose weight, look at it as a way to become healthier. Losing weight is just one of the added benefits. Try to eat a little better everyday, and move a little more every day. Park a few spaces further away from the door. Choose to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Celebrate each extra step you take, every minute of extra endurance, every extra pound you can lift. It's all good.0

Bump for later0

Always :P
i restarted a week back and aiming to jus finish my 30 min of minimum exercise everyday instead of really concentrating on too many things at once!!0 -
Ask yourself......Where will I be in 6 months if I do nothing?
Every single day that goes by is another day toward your goal. I remember thinking I was just destined to be a fat girl, and there was nothing to be done about it. I keep thinking if I had given up at any point during my journey, where would I be? I was 253lbs when I started, so I'd probably be well over 300 by now.
Just don't give up. Keep thinking everyday where you'll be in even just a few month's time!0 -
No. Unlike many others, I have never focus on the scale or the weight. I was nearly 500 lbs for most of my 20's and never cared to change until I found out I had diabetes type II. For me it just being active and eating less and just being healthier. I don't want to ever go back to taking the various medications I was in the past to control all of the issues I had.0

Sometimes. I find breaking it down into a simple daily challenge helps rather than focusing on weeks and months and big numbers.
Exactly. You have to eat the elephant one bite at a time. But, since we are talking about weight loss, don't eat the entire elephant and be sure to log it.0 -
im having one of those days today where i feel i cant and keep thinkin whats the point i just keep looking on here and reminds me why im doing it0

It seems like its too far out of my reach. I don't think I'll be able too. Do you guys ever feel like this.
nope. because it's not too far out of my reach and it's not too far out of yours either.0 -
Baby steps. You will get there, when you look at the big picture too much you will get overwhelmed. So think about the small goals and changes that you are reaching and close to.0
-
Breaking down your objective to a smaller shorter term weight lost could help. Your ultimate goal can still be to lose 100 lbs but in the shorter term it could be 50lbs. With 17 lbs lost and objective of 50 lbs you are a 3rd of the way there. Don't give up. My short term was 66 lbs however my longer term is more like 86.0

"Can't" is not in my vocabulary with anything in life. Take it out of yours too and you'll feel much better about this entire process, because that's exactly what it is.
You're already making progress so push through and you'll get there in time.0 -
You can do it! Don't look at it as a diet/exercise program to lose weight. Look at it as a lifestyle that you have adopted to get your body as healthy as possible. We only get one body and we need to take care of it. Don't get on the scale any more than once per week, maybe even just every other week. The scale can fluctuate so much for a variety of reasons and that can get you down in a hurry! Just keep plugging along and you will see small changes that will soon become big changes. Good luck!0
