It depends on the type of bread.
    White bread? No.
    Whole wheat/multi-grain? Yes.

Yeah, because whole wheat bread/ multigrain has some magical properties where the calories don't count? :noway:

No, but it effects on your insulin level

I eat a wholegrain bread roll for lunch every day (with various fillings), and fresh from the bakery each day, so no preservatives. No harm to the weight loss at all. It fits within my daily calorie allowance and that's all that matters.

We all can only respond based on our own experiences. In my many years of being overweight, dieting, gaining, re-dieting, losing weight, regaining weight, I always kept bread within my regimen. At some point, I went to whole-grain ("multi-grain" is not whole-grain). One year ago, I found myself at a place where it was time (way past time, really) to get back on the weight-loss train, so I started back to Weight Watchers and began counting points. The only change this time in my eating plan was that I was going to avoid bread, rolls, crackers, etc. Almost immediately I began to see more significant (and consistent) weight loss than I had before. For me bread is a trigger food that I find difficult to limit. If I don't have it at all, I don't have that problem. So far, I've lost 40 lbs, 10 of which have been since November when I joined MFP. Good luck to all.

This, except I went on the Dukan diet on December 31,2011...even when I got to the third phase when some whole wheat bread is allowed I just say no...bread,pasta, rice and potatos are not coming back to my food plan... I lost 46 pounds at age 54 in 2012 and I dont want them back...nuts,avocados, bananas and apples cover my carb and fiber needs now. BUT! I believe each person has to figure out their own best nutrition plan at each life stage they are in.

I love bread, but to cut the calories in it, I use Healthy Life whole wheat or Healthy Life white bread. 35 calories per slice and it actually tastes good. 70 cals for 2 slices vs 120 for ONE slice of reg bread.

So does protein. Your point would be? Insuln doesn't make you fat. Bread doesn't make you fat. Too many calories make you fat. Insulin has nothing to shuttle to fat storage if you are eating in a calorie deficit.

Whether or not you can eat wheat products is different from person to person. My wife and I stopped consuming wheat products a couple of months ago and have had some interesting results. My wife had a number of annoying health issues, sore joints, acid refulx and others. She started feeling better almost immediately after we started avoidance. I didn't have any noticeable benefits. Although it did seem to speed up my weight loss a little. It certainly doesn't hurt to avoid wheat for a while. If you feel better then you probably have some gluten/gliadin sensitivity.

Don't eat or avoid eating anything specifically to control your weight. Choose your food options for their health benefits.

Don't exercise to lose weight. Exercise to get strong and feel good.
