Gym Gear...Embarrassed

Y'know.. I have noticed a trend at my gym: the ones that come in all dressed in bright neon matching yoga pants/shorts, shoes, and tank tops don't do **** while they are there. They half-*kitten* things like the elliptical or even the recumbent bike. People who come in in a t-shirt, mesh shorts, etc. and leave in a saturated smelly shirt are the ones that put the work in. Wear whatever you like - what matters is your effort.0

Wait, what? We're supposed to wear clothes? I wonder if that's why I keep getting laughed at.0

I've always been sort of old school when it comes to gym clothes. Over the last few years though, I've discovered the benefits of the new fabrics over cotton and I've been transitioning to dry fit clothes by Nike and Under Armour.
The last of my cotton work out clothes are very near death. My favorite old Everlast sleeveless won't survive many more trips through the wash.
So great, new clothes that don't stink so much and dry out quickly. Comfortable and practical for working out.
On the down side, this morning I walked in to the gym, saw myself in the mirror, and nearly headed back home. I was wearing a black Under Armour shirt, red and black Under Armour shorts and Red/White/Black New Balance shoes.
Just a taaaad too coordinated!
I looked like a fitness model...without the fitness.
Mortifying.
Tomorrow I'm going to have to wear that old Everlast and some plain cotton shorts. I'll stink up the place, but I need my man card (old guy version) back.
I never match when I go to the gym. I go like I just woke up...... mostly. I'm gonna walk out looking like I just went for a swim in the pool with my clothes on anyway so who cares!0 -
I always match my shoes to my workout gear...but then again, I am a girl, so matching is sort of in my DNA.
I bet the red, white and black looked awesome!
I looked just like the guys on the UA web site, with half the muscles and twice the old.
They may be more fit, but you're the prettiest belle at the ball
You sweet talker you!0 -
Not sure if you are aware of this, but a man typically has a general set of colors they wear for everything. Therefore, not being coordinated in your color scheme is usually rare even when grabbing random clothes. That is the great part....I grab shorts, socks, shoes, shirt, and go. Turns out I am coordinated all of the time. You didn't lose your man card, you just made it to the next level..."Looking good with no effort and not thinking"
Completely aware of this. Johnny Cash is my fashion hero. I only started adding colors because my wife nagged me...em, repeatedly pointed out...em, mentioned my boring colors once or twice.0 -
<<<<<< I wear a pair of bright yellow/gold shorts. So I don't really have to worry too much about if I'm matching or not.0
-
I tend to wear funky, patterned pajama pants to the gym. Mostly because I'm too lazy to change into anything when I get out of bed....and...why bother making more dirty clothes?0
-
In my 20's, I tended to date muscular guys straight off parole and they most certainly didn't wear Under Armour. Then I met a man with a real job who worked out in a gym and he had what I thought were the strangest workout clothes, like Under Armour. It never got sexy for me. It was like alien fabric. I didn't like his nasty worn out cotton tank tops leftover from college either. It's kind of a no-win for me on workout clothes, but I do love big arms, so therein lies the win. I'm sure the young girls like the "real" workout gear because they're used to it. Of the two, I'll stick with the Rocky type. I got gaps.0

lol I got in sweats and a t shirt. all the guys I see at the gym are all colored coordinated. either black shirt with black n red shorts and shoes, black n white, green and white, white, blue and white, blue and black.0

One day I realised whilst leaning on my squat bar after a set that my nails matched my workout top and it made me so happy I upped my weights and beat a personal best... XD0
-
I wear black yoga pants and 5$ walmart T shirts. Not much thought required to be matchy.0
-
Hahaaaaa! Love this :laugh:0

i went to the gym looked in the mirror and to my horror my purse was a summertime color and it being winter gasssssssssp luckly the holes in my underwearless gym shorts distracted the even most dedicated fasion gurus i mean nothing really showed it was just the fact my man scaping needed work and it looked like zztop beard hanging out that got all the gasps0

My trackies are getting more faded and as I lose weight they are getting looser and longer - so they often drag along the ground a bit - but not quite body confident enough to get the knee length ones yet (I am 5ft2") so I am just getting scruffier whenever I go.
I have had to stop wearing one pair as I tried out a spin class and the seat was broken and kept sliding back - but my trackies were too loose, so as the seat slid my trackies were literally sliding off me - so I spent most of the spin class trying to tuck my t-shirt down the back of them.0 -
why does it have to be either or? it's possible to be a bada$$ and still look cute while doing it. one of my favorite superheros was coordinated as HELL and could still open a can of whoop *kitten*
is it wrong that I actually want to turn up at the gym dressed like that? Maybe without the boots because i'm not sure how my squats would fare with those.....0 -
I bet you looked fabulous! I actually terrify myself when I manage coordinate, mainly because I generally don't try to. (Ignore the fact that the eye shadow matches the jersey I'm wearing in my profile picture... lol)0
-
I figure most people are too self absorbed to notice what I am wearing.0

this made me laugh so much. i've recently started jogging and went in search of clothes to wear and was horrerfied in the middle of the shop. i'm trying to loose weight so i'm not so concerned about my body so WHY OH WHY would i want to jog out in public in skin tight co-ordenated ( mostly covered in pink or reflective bits for us girls ) clothes! i know they'r to help keep you warm or cool whilst keeping sweat away from you but Really does any one want to see a neon pink whale blubbering down the side of the road! (just talking about myself before any one takes offense x )
so whats wrong with black on its own sports clothes desighners? I get the reflective bits, safety first, but please i want to blend in so people dont stare at me not stick out like a sore thumb.
maybe i need to look into army training gear :laugh:0 -
ahh, the gym. i don't want to be there. i don't want to chit chat with anyone. i'm not looking to meet anyone. i just want to go in, do my thing and get the hell out of there. that being said, i just roll out of bed, throw on anything that looks like it might give a stretch, put up an unbrushed ponytail, wear some mismatched socks and wipe away the raccoon eyes.
and sometimes when i'm feeling ambitious, i wear my old school hypercolor tshirt just to gauge my overall performance.0 -
Thanks for the reminder, just checked my kit for today:
Shoes - New Balance, Socks - Slazenger, shorts - Nike, vest - Adidas, sweat towel - branded with the wrong gym name.
All present and incorrect, just the way they should be.0 -
Redeemed myself this morning by dressing with my eyes closed.0

that means your clothes are already neatly organized. probably folded too. maybe even color coordinated...like geranimals.
until proven otherwise, i'm going to have to issue you 14 negative manpoints.0
