Who cares what they say their size is? Does it really matter?

This isn't very supportive. Are we not all here for the same thing?

To the OP, celebrities are much much smaller than you think. Male actors are 5'7" and females are a shade above anorexic. They are shockingly tiny when you meet them in real life. So while Kim K may look big standing next to some B Lister, if you saw her in person you would tower over her.

Size 2....size 4. It doesn't really mean anything anymore. When I weighed 120 pounds, I was a size 10.....that was back in the mid 70's. That's how sizes have changed. KK would probably have been a size 10 back then, too.

Being a man, I cant claim to know a ton about woman sizing. But, I do know that of the celebs I have met it is always stunning how smaller they look in person then what they appear to look like on TV. One celeb once told me...you have to remember, you are watching a little box and depending on the camera angle and distance you can look like a giant or a tiny person. With that said, I once dated a girl who had a tiny little waist, in shape, and by all accounts thin...she was pretty tall though, almost 5'11". She also was probably larger than average on top. If I remember correctly she would have to buy size 10 clothes, I think she could fit in smaller tops than size 10, but most pants smaller than that were too short on her...I think I can remember it being a pain in the but for her to find clothes. With that said, it seems to me that Woman sizing is greatly affected by height, hip and bust size...which means you can not draw any conclusion between what a person may look like on TV, or their fitness level by their clothes sizing.

Great comments everyone! I don't even need to add anything because so much great stuff has been said already!! Yes, she is short at 5'2", and she is tiny, she has a small waist that makes her curvy, there is vanity sizing (in all sizes for all of us), and who cares what anyone else weighs or wears (and I'm finding clothing sizing is extremely variable per person and does not mean anything). I understand about feeling upset about dishonesty, but this does not fall into the category of dishonesty that is meaningful (and I don't even think she is being dishonest). :drinker:

You sound very bitter and judgmental. Who GAF what others say their size is? Maybe if you worried about yourself as much as you do about celebrities you wouldn't have such a nasty attitude.

Because sizes are completely uniform at every store you go to and are a totally accurate representation that completely defines women! Obviously. What size you are means everything I've never been a 0 at one store and a 5 at another. That's like unheard of!

While I don't think you're body shaming (whoever said that is just trolling), I don't think your argument is valid. It doesn't matter if its a celebrity, your mom, your cat, or someone you met on MFP. That still wouldn't make it acceptable. (again...I don't think the OP was shaming at all)

Its trolling because you're just trying to get a rise out of the OP, as you do on every other thread you comment on. While I don't agree with ANYTHING the OP has posted thus far, I didn't interpret her post as shaming. I don't think that the purpose of her post was to body shame. Do I think its an ignorant post? Yup...I'm planning on becoming a celebrity so I can be judged by millions of people I don't know and don't know me..because that's the only reason I want to get famous. EVERYONE knows the second I become a celebrity I stop being a person.

I don't like the Kardashians, so I have no clue. And Kirstie, yeah.....she swings so much, sidewise who knows.

But I used to know a girl who was short, but incredibly curvy. I would've guessed (I didn't CARE either which way, it was just a guess) a 6 or so due to her curves (beautiful figure!), but I ended up knowing that she actually wore an XS and those tended to be kinda big on her. I was surprised, but it was just reinforcement of a lesson that you can't always tell by walking past someone

ummm actually. I live near all these "pseudo" people you guys think are only half-human. they are real people let me tell you. I meet lot's of them before they become famous and run into lots of them when they already are. they have all the same insecurities we all do and struggles possibly more. as a result of living here sometimes i get a taste of their medicine when i get stared at while dining even though i'm "nobody". some people may be thinking i'm someone who has seen better days or something but I don't know who. i can't tell you how uncomfortable it is to try to eat a normal meal or go in and out of a normal store when someone has decided you must be "somebody". imagine how it is when they really are someone famous? don't hate they don't have a more envious life than you, i can assure you.

well it makes me someone with first hand information. eye witness accounts if you will. funny, now you seem jealous just because i live near them and see some of them sometimes on errands? it's not like they're my friends, i just see them like the sparklett's guy or fedex guy and some of those guys actually get me more excited lol. love those brown shorts. and you can't help notice someone you just saw all giant on a big screen or on tv for weeks on end seriously why is this upsetting you. you live in manhattan it's just not a big deal right? why is this bothering you?

I don't know anyone that wears a size 2. Do people really fit into clothes that small??? The smallest size I can ever remember wearing is a 5 and I was in middle school, not fat at all!

I wore a size 2 in college, and a size 4 until about two years ago. I started losing weight to fit into my wardrobe, which is all size 2 and 4.

They all dress in high end clothing. High end clothing is notorious for vanity sizing. I don't believe for a second that Kardashian is a "real world" size 2. Curvy or not.

It's really a small sign of a larger problem, though, which is why people are taking the time to answer this. It is not necessarily healthy to compare oneself to any other body but one's own; weight loss, body type, size, whatever. Feeling angry, bitter, or resentful about this disconnect between one's body and expectations of one's body based on other people is similarly unhealthy (for example, if that bitterness translates into, "I think YOUR body isn't accurate to my standards or expectations"). This sort of topic has been posted before, just substitute Kim Kardashian with "my friend" or "my sister-in-law."

lol, no. i'm not jealous that you happen to see celebrities. i don't care. as i said, i live in manhattan. i'm sure there are celebrities here, but i just don't care to seek them out. they are just people. celebrities don't impress me. i find it humorous when people run up to celebrities to touch them or talk to them.

so the "curvy" you are seeing is likely in relation to her tiny waist. My measurements are 34-24-36 and I wear a size 0-1.

It can also vary depending on how high/low you wear your pants. If you wear them all the way up near your belly button you'd need a smaller size then if you wear them around your hips or falling off your *kitten*.
