Pancake Day - how do you eat yours?

At other times I'll be adventurous with pancakes, but on Pancake Day is just has to be lemon juice and sugar (or sometimes, if I'm feeling rebellious) a drizzle of maple syrup. I've been and swam a mile this morning to make some calorie space :-)0

I spread butter on each one and then drizzle syrup over it, and throw a cut up banana or strawberries on top. served with bacon, and an egg. Hell to the yea.0

I normally have them with an insane amount of butter, so now I don't have them....I miss pancakes....sigh. Actually, I like them when I have them, but don't really seek them out, but this thread may get me to have buttercakes, I mean pancakes.0

I love the Brits. Their answer to Mardi Gras is to have pancakes. Such decadence, such indulgence! Does that mean everyone gives up syrup for Lent?
I must say, I have lived in the right parts of the US, eating kielbasa and such, but I have never had packzi day0 -
Normally butter and real maple syrup. The dark kind. But today, none. It's better that way.0

I love lard on mine0

My family loves it when I make my apple pancakes. I shred two green apples in pancake batter and sprinkle some cinnamon. We eat them with syrup. They are so good!0

Butter and syrup. No need to get fancy.0

Depends. Generally just peanut butter or regular butter and maple syrup (boysenberry syrup if I've been able to find it locally). Sometimes I like to top with mixed berries and some whipped cream. Then some times I just add a bit of brown sugar and maple syrup to the batter and eat the pancake plain (This is really nice when I need to eat on my way to somewhere and it's really nice for toddlers who still haven't really mastered eating something with a topping yet.)0

Savory first with grated cheese and tomatos, then lemon and sugar, or some jam mmmm.....My fave is nutella and sliced banana, but I don't think so!0

Here for Pancake day with the crepe style pancakes, lemon and a dusting of confectioners sugar. American style...banana pancakes with REAL maple syrup is the only way for me!...oh unless they're my mom's blueberry ones :bigsmile:0

Ok, here's my weird favorite. HOT DOG SLICES. Put the batter on the griddle, then place hot dog slices on the top side while the 1st side is cooking. I know, everyone says yuck, until they eat one. One of the few good things to come out of the the time "back in the day..." or at least one of the few I can remember, lol.0

With butter, pan-fried bacon, creamy peanut butter and pure maple syrup.0

My pancakes are delicious just plain. Sometimes I splurge and buy real maple syrup. You only need a drizzle.0

usually its a protein pancake topped off with fat free cottage cheese. or sometimes sourcream.0

In the Detroit area, its Pazcki Day....aka "fat bombs"
To answer the question...I DO NOT eat them
That looks like a doughnut. How big are those things?
It is a Polish Donut. I normally have one every year to honor my Polish heritage - not those store bought things though..........From a REAL Polish bakery.
I passed this year though as I am focused0 -
I take one medium banana and mash it up and mix in one large egg and stir together, sometimes add in some flax seed or chia seeds, and fruit if you want...top with PB2...super low calories and yummy!0

Shrove Tuesday was historically the day to remove foods that were unsuitable for eating during Lent. Don't think syrup was around, and very few people had lemons or sugar either.
Think it's more symbolic.
But it would take an American to come up with those monster stodge lumps you call pancakes! And adding bacon? With maple syrup? What's that all about?
