apple cider vinegar do I need it?

As I look online for smoothie/ protein shake recipes I have come across a lot that have apple cider vinegar. Seriously?! the comments claim that just adding it has done wonders. So does it really work or can I just skip it? HAs anyone used it for weight loss?

    I use it to make salad/sandwich dressings. I don't believe the hype that it makes much difference in weight loss though. Raspberry ketones, green tea, green coffee, apple cider vinegar. If all it took to lose weight were these things there be a lot less people overweight, don't you think?

    I just did not know if there was reasoning behind it? I can not imagine people actually liking the taste of it? Im not sold on it. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something. Most of the ingrediants I understand why they are in there. Just not that apple cider vinegar.

    I would just skip it.

    People claim that it helps with weight loss, digestion, metabolism, detoxing the body etc.... it doesn't make you lose weight, increase your metabolism or detox your body.

    It is a great addition to dressings though.

    I've never heard of putting it in a smoothie...that sounds gross. I do use it in a few recipes, but thats it. I had no idea it was supposed to help with weight loss.
  • I use it for cleaning apples... I wouldn't dare eat it. It smells awful.

    I use it when I have heartburn or any kind of bloating or indigestion. 1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar (with the mother), 1 tablespoon honey, and about 12 oz water. It has a lot of health benefits.

    Thanks. That answers my question. I didnt know what the purpose was. I figured what ever it did had to be far fetched. I just didnt want to leave it out if it actually had some important nutritional value

    Don't know how it is for weight loss...but I like to have a bowl of baby carrots and a shot glass of apple cider vinegar. The flavors are great together:)

    It's great for other things though like a facial toner, wound cleaning solution, etc.

    But get Bragg's. Not that ****e from the grocery store.

    i just did it....1 tbls in ice cold water with one pack of stevia....its has helped my diabetes and high bp.....i do it daily

    It's great for the scalp if you irritated it. Here's are some articles that mention some studies...I haven't dug deep into it so I'm really not familiar with it. In the first, he mentions studies related to diabetes. The second is from another site....not these are not medical journals...just starting points.

    I know that vinegar is awesome. I use it to clean, softner in laundry, soak my tired aching feeties and a mask for my hair. It works awesome for that stuff.

    I'd skip it. There has been limited research to show that 2 tablespoons before bed could lower the blood glucose of a diabetic by 4-6%. That's pretty much the only positive result that has held up.

    I hardly think that outweighs the negative effects of it which include: wearing away teeth enamel, lowering potassium levels, and lowering of bone density.

  • It makes a great drink with 0 calories or carbs, by adding a teaspoon or two to 8 oz water with a small packet of Stevia. It is actually pretty good (in my opinion) It was pushed by Dr. OZ as something that helps curb your appetite. It helps curb your appetite for sure.....though I feel it is somewhat temporary.

    People have been using it for decades to balance their pH, ease sore muscles, regulate diabetes, etc. I had two really old aunts who took 2 tablespoons every day in a glass of OJ and swore by it. But like anything else, it's good for some, useless for others.

    Interesting...I'd say dilute it with water prior to drinking it. I can't imagine it would be any worse than something acidic like limes, lemons or even coke. I'd say it depends on quantity. I couldn't find anything stating how much is dangerous as no one knows. If you don't need to take it in, then don't bother. I love using it on my scalp - best stuff EVER.

    dilute it or brush your teeth after. in pure form it can break down your teeth enamel.

    It's also low alkaline forming, which is good, but lemons & watermelon are MUCH much more alkaline forming and taste much better (eating the watermelon or squeezing the lemon in water)
