Best Thing Ever: How to ignore annoying MFPers

Have you learned how to use the glorious ignore function????
You may already know how to hide folks in your own News Feed - either delete them or click "hide" beside one of their updates that shows in your friend feed.
You can also ignore folks you don't ever want to see posts from by clicking the tiny blue down arrow next to their name and under their picture in any forum thread. There are some limitations - for example, if another responder "quotes" the annoying poster, you will see that text. Some responses may not make sense if they are responding to the person you ignored. If the person you are ignoring makes additional inflammatory remarks, you won't see it (so you can't respond, but it sure helps you appear to take the high road!).
This trick puts the enjoyment BACK into the forum and allows you to selectively remove from your view the jerks. I know there are a few names I don't EVER need to see what they may have to say to anyone... so now... I don't hafta. Just wanted to share something I'd forgotten.
Happy posting!

I think the jerks are the funnest part of the forum! I'm immensly entertained by the blow up threads.0 -

Oh oh oh!! AND --- in future forum posts, all you see is a blank line that says "you are ignoring this poster"... and then can click to un-ignore them or leave it as is. So fabulously wonderful. I'm still enjoying the spoils of this!0

Luckily, thanks to MFP's ancient quoting system, even if your ignored user has been quoted, you might not know it. Names aren't put with the quotes.0

Thanks for posing, I never knew that0

Tee, hee! Me too.0 -
Yes I am familiar with this feature. One by one, posters were announcing that they were putting me on ignore. It made me laugh. I'm too nosey to ever use an ignore feature on any forum.0

3,336 posts isn't a lot.0

I wonder how many posters have me on ignore.0

Edited because it looked ridiculous without the quote for reference.0

B U M P! thank you!0

Hi everyone. I volunteer right now! If you don't have the mental acuity to ignore people using your own brain, then you don't need to be reading what I write.
Oh hell no!! you're too funny to ignore... and right...(at least here)

I wish there was an "ignore annoying thread" option. Instead, I have to rely on my rascally whimsy.0

In...
...in case anyone considered ignoring me at some time and then forgot my name.
Personally, the curiosity keeps me from ignoring anyone for very long...so I use my built-in "ignore/disregard" function.0 -
I don't know her but this is kind of a rude thing to say. That's an average of 4.5 posts per day, which is less than my average.

I'm hoping he's using her as an example, I have no idea if she's ever said anything to offend him though.
I've seen plenty over people with over 10k posts.
Not ridiculous at all.
Especially if they participate in those "rate the person above you" type threads *bleck*0 -

thanks for your post OP, I already found it by accident and I was putting only zombie profile people on ignore but since she chimed in, you're thread has reminded me to put her on ignore too. thanks a bunch OP! :drinker: :flowerforyou:0 -

I don't understand. How can you ignore something if it's in front of you? Do you put your hand up?0 -

Also this. Way too much temptation to see what the "ignored user" is saying that I can't see.0 -
But, but, I love the random troll threads that send everyone into a tizzy! It's highly entertaining. Heck, one of my favorite threads resulted in a link to someone's junk while everyone call the OP a hooker.0

I get too much enjoyment from watching people act like idiots to ignore anyone.0
