Want to give up smoking for good?

  • I work in a casino at present, and spend my entire day in a cloud of cigarette smoke. There's really no point in my quitting until I can find a new job, which, in my area isn't too likely right now.

Yep, fantastic book. I smoked for 8 years and thought "I'm young, I don't need to quit" but my 20 year old boyfriend is on the verge of COPD caused directly by smoking, so we thought we would read this book. (You don't think things like that will happen to you or anyone you know and it was scary)

Well it worked for both of us despite both our unwillingness to stop, lung disease or no lung disease (and that's what is scary, he was quite happy to carry on even though he was quite visibly harming himself)

Eta: we both still spend a lot of time around smokers and it doesn't even bother us. It's mind over matter in those situations and possible when you realise how vile and disgusting smoking actually is. Never realised how bad it smells...

Good book, I quit cold turkey after 20 years. Some years ago now, couldn't honestly tell you when as it just seems like I was a different person.

When you really (really) understand that there are no benefits to smoking and you just don't want to do it then no willpower is required.

Sorry but no, that's just a typical smokers justification,

Look, I've been there and made all the same excuses for not quitting, truth was I didn't want to give them up, just like you don't with a mindset like that.

There is every point to you giving them up even working in a smoke filled casino.

If you take a step back then you will see your line of reasoning is ridiculous.

But you probably won't because that addiction will taint everything.

Don't mean to be harsh but it is the truth.
  • Never heard of the book myself but I went to the doctor's and got some tablets to help me stop smoking I haven't had a smoke for 8 and a half weeks
