Of course, here in the States, one must be cautious when telling others one has lost "two stones" regardless of the time frame... I said that to my husband and he replied, "Really? I don't remember your ever having a pair!" :blushing:

Thats a good idea!! I like to pick up things that weigh the amount I lost-- it really helps you see just how much is gone.
    . Makes me think

Very true, my 4 stone lost is a very large sack of spuds most would struggle to lift easily. yet I carried the equivalent around for a few years everyday

Just for fun we could start measuring time and distance differently too. Example sentence: "I lost 3 stone, 6 lbs in 4 score, 7 days by running 100 chains a day."

Oh crikey! Can you imagine the confusion. And suppose we added cwt to the mix! Or the odd furlong here and there?

    quote this ^^^^^^^

And ~I think in the interests of accuracy a score is 20, so 4 score and 7 would be 87 days...
Sorry to be a stickler, but it's an English thing. lol

For good measure can we bring in rod, pole or perch?

I understood stone & score... but not chains. yeah, I'm a silly American.

That makes it sound like I have less to lose... only 4 stone 11 lbs. Not as daunting as a number as 67 lbs.

I can see how you would want to use stone as a measurement. So I'm currently 15 stone 2 pounds... so when I lose 3 more pounds I'll be at 14 stone (and change). Cool milestone. I might start doing that.

    Thanks for the idea. :flowerforyou:

I constantly think in lbs, st, kg and elephants penises. I find the variety helps when it comes to various milestones.

I like this! It sounds easier to say I only have one stone to lose instead of 14 more pounds :)

The only value in stones I see is that it is a "grab-able", visible, undeniable amount of weight to gain or lose. As opposed to a pound or kilogram, which could be due to so many factors.

No thanks, in the US more stones, or having large stones is something to be admired. I sure ain't going around trying to shrink my stones, I do that enough when I run in the cold.
