If u buy the almond milk in the store, make sure it doesn't have "carageenan" in it....word on the street isthat its a contributor to arthritis, and since it runs in my family, I stay away. I actually make my own almond milk also...sweetened with dates or maple syrup. Its an adjustment though....I don't drink it alone. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with cow milk. :)

I buy the Trader Joe's brand unsweetened vanilla almond milk in the refridgerated case (the shelf stable one tastes too raw almondy for me).

I love milk but 2% or whole. I did drink 1% but I hate, hate, hate skim. I originally tried almond milk to help lower calories, but I honestly prefer it for cereal and to mix with coffee or protein shakes. It tastes good, isn't watery like skim milk, and is a nice white color (aethetically pleasing). I don't like drinking it on it's own though. It's not bad, but if I were going to have a glass of milk, I'd prefer whole or 2% milk since I enjoy the mouth feel of it, but I just don't crave it anymore. I used love cream and half and half too - used to take sips from the carton, but I find it tastes funny in my coffee now...it's weird and I can't describe it.

Old school thinking is stick with dairy; however, dairy has been surfacing as being detrimental to various issues in health. I am not trying to change anyone's mind but I avoid dairy as much as possible.

Aside from it being weird and un-natural, we are the only species that drinks another animals milk meant to nurture their babies,

Since it is loaded with toxins, if you are going to drink try to get hormone free milk. Today’s cows produce much, much more milk than they did in the past. This is due in great part to drugs, antibiotics, and artificial hormones. Many studies have shown connections between the hormones in dairy products and the formation of hormone-related cancers. By avoiding animal milk products, you have a better chance of avoiding breast, prostate, colon, and other cancers.

Dairy products have been found by researchers to be a leading cause of atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes.

There is more, but likely you will be fine no matter what you choose.

I agree with most of this, just wanted to add that watch labels on cheese, yogurt, other dairy products. Even your whey protein can come from cows treated with hormones. If you get regular milk, try to by hormone free and organic when possible. If it's not labeled to come from hormone free cows, I would not buy it.

The brand I buy (and the only one I've found so far here in Sweden), Alpro, tastes just like fullfat milk at the beginning of the mouthfull when it's really chilled, then you get the almond taste.

I love Whole milk! Fat or Not Fat. I just believe milk is too healthy to give up! That is just me. I don't care for the taste of soy. And as long as you are eating in modification and portion control you can still have the good foods. whole milk, ice cream ect.

Unless you have a milk/lactose sensitivity, there's no real reason to switch for health reasons.

This. NOthing wrong with real milk unless you have an issue with lactose or choose to follow a vegan diet.

There is more protein in regular milk than Almond.

And if you wanted normal milk - it will please you to know that growth promoters (hormones etc) are banned in the EU.

There is a good video by Brad Gouthro (one of my favourite fitness/nutrition specialist) comparing diary milk with soya, almond and coconut milk. It's worth watching - not only this, but other ones as well. He is really good! :)

I personally LOVE Almond Breeze Vanilla Almond Milk. It just tastes good. I drank 1% milk for most of my life, then switched to skim. I still like my regular milk, but I'm sticking with Almond.

Well I can't have casein (milk protein) so I don't drink cow's milk. Unsweetened almond milk has zero sugar (1g carb) and 50% more calcium that dairy milk. It doesn't have much protein, but I get my protein from other sources anyway, so no loss there for me. The little bit of fat that's in it is heart-healthy fat. I like the taste and consistency of almond milk and it's awesome when you cook oatmeal or quinoa in it. I mostly use almond milk as my calcium source and I think that's what most people use milk for. If you like cow juices and don't have an intolerance to it, then stick with it. I was always kind of grossed out by milk, but I loved my cheese. You can always give almond milk a try and see what you think...:drinker:

I buy normal milk too... But only in winter, cause I can never use up everything before the expiration date but it always lasts way past the expiration date during winter. And almond milk just isn't as good for hot chocolate in my opinion.

Love that almond milk has a long shelf life. I've personally tolerated it better than regular milk.

I've use dark chocolate almond milk to flavor my hot cocoa and coffee.

Almond coconut milk to make mango bread pudding and tropical iced desserts.

Unsweetened almond milk to make creamy tomato sauces, pancakes, cheese breads.

Sweetened almond milk to make protein shakes and smoothies.

Why not just buy a container and try it. I personally love the taste. I have never been a milk drinker... Was into soy for the longest time, and made the switch to almond about 2 years ago. It is normally a little less expensive and has less calories with a similiar taste. Available in regular, unsweetened, vanilla and chocolate. You can't go wrong.

Milk has a lot more nutrients and protein than almond milk does. Most of the vitamins in almond milk are from supplements. Natural isn't always better, but in the case of vitamin supplements, nutrients that come from supplements don't seem to be as well absorbed as nutrients that come from food. Unless you are allergic to milk, lactose intolerant, or you like almond milk and consider it a treat, I would stick with milk.

I like almond milk, but I want the protein that is in milk.
