1: Losing A LOT of muscle tone on Medifast is a myth, do some research*

2: Ive lost 50lbs so far since Thanksgiving and only about 3lbs of that was muscle! I get a body scan every month so that is how I know this.

3: Medifast is a great weight loss program, there are easier ways to go about losing weight however; I have huge issue with discipline and portion control and making healthy meals with an appropriate amount of veggies. Medifast has been so good to me on all of these aspects! And yes, it is a VLCD so it's not for everyone but in transition phase you will train your body to eat back up to a normal range of calories without gaining weight back. Thats why so many people have kept the weight off with this plan, It teaches you how to eat!

Everyone thinks its just thee diet part then its done and thats not true! Theres a tranisition and maintanence phase that will give you life long knowledge to approaching your life in a healthier manner without ANY medifast foods included (but you can always continue to eat the foods such as a bar for a quick snack). All you gotta do is follow the program.

To the OP, I wish you nothing but luck and Ill send a friends request! I also have 150 to lose, well now I have 100 to lose and my ticker isnt updated yet I can assure you Ive lost about 52lbs
I'm sorry, but VLCD for extended periods of time is not only unnecessary, but unhealthy and unsustainable. Speaking from experience, here.

There are easier ways to go about losing weight, and none of them include dropping obscene amounts of money on a "diet" that can lead to long term metabolic damage.

To the OP, you don't *need* any program to lose weight. I'd recommend taking a look at the link trogalicious posted.

    YES.

And for anyone saying we aren't being supportive sometimes seeing through people's eyes who have succeeded in other ways IS being supportive.

I LOVE eating food, i LOVE lifting and sculpting a beautiful body while I lose weight.
i LOVE being happy while I do it, and not deprived and obsessed with food.

    OP,

I've seen Medifast work for some people. Heck, almost any diet will work for some people. So I'm not gonna try to talk you out of it. If you want to do Medifast (and especially since your husband has had some success), more power to you. Consider Trog's feedback. I understand the desire to lose weight quickly, seeking a "jump start", etc. But I do think you should at least have a long-term plan for how things are going to be after Medifast. I also think others are being supportive by pointing out that if you elected to start the "long-term after Medifast plan" now, you might save some money and lean body mass.

Mostly, I hope you listen to the feedback posted by firstsip and Joylia. Your attitude toward food, toward eating, toward yourself - that has the power to determine success for you. No diet or exercise plan in the world can take the place of a little hope and perseverance. You gotta get into a state of mind believing you can succeed and stay focused on that belief. Have a plan and support system for when that belief wavers.
