My 5th grade crush told me I was a genie in a bucket because I was too fat to fit in a bottle.
In 7th grade, my super skinny friend noticed the bright red stretch marks on the back of my legs for the first time. She then screamed to the rest of the class walking behind us to look at the "cat scratches" covering my legs.0 -
I teacher preschool. Three year olds. They have no tact! I get a lot of "Is there a baby in your tummy?" "You have a big tushy!!" "Oooh, you're squishy!" Etc, etc, etc.
But my favorite (lol) was last year. A young three year old boy in my class was being quite gentlemanly and noticed that I was coming to the table to sit down. He got up and pulled out my chair for me. My heart melted, it was so sweet. And then....he looked at me, looked at my butt, and pulled the chair out another two feet!
What a lovely lovely little boy! Sorry I am sympathetic (my 4-year old loves playing with my "squishy" tummy) but can't help but think that kid is a generous empathic nice little man...
Oh I very much agree! It's my favorite story ever. He's an awesome kid, and his heart is filled with kindness. It's just...it was so stinking funny!0 -
About 2 years after Hubby and I got married, I acknowledged that I was gaining a little bit of weight. "It's not THAT much," I kept telling myself. I was in full denial until one day at work. I work in a court, and it was just a normal day.... I was taking notes, running around giving the judge new files, and giving the defendants and attorneys their copies of the orders. After court, I went to the bathroom, and to my horror, I saw that the 2 buttons on my shirt right around my bosom area had popped open. Thank goodness I had a tank top on underneath or that would have been mortifying! Even still, it was embarrassing enough and that was the last time I've worn my nice button down shirts to work.
Maybe I'll be able to wear them again this summer....0 -
When I was a nanny (and not even at my heaviest) the family I worked for bought a hammock for the backyard. Everyone else tried it out and they were fine. I sat in it and pulled the thing all the way to the ground.0

I was at someone's house and stumbled on their staircase, grabbed the hand rail and tore it completely off the wall.0

A number of years ago, my husband had to attend a scientific conference and my daughter (who was in junior high school at the time) and I decided to accompany him. I weighed at least 50 pounds more than I do currently. While my husband was at the conference, my daughter and I decided to go to lunch at a restaurant that had been recommended to us. The decor was lovely and the view was excellent--and the food was elegant. There was just one problem. The straight back chairs were very narrow with a very high center of gravity. During the course of the meal, my cloth napkin slipped off my lap onto the floor. I reached down to pick it up---and my chair fell over with me on it! Our waiter rushed over to make sure that I wasn't hurt and kept trying to pick me up off the floor (but he was a skinny little thing) and I was helpless to help him because I was laughing so hard. The other patrons were struggling not to laugh and my daughter was utterly mortified. Even now, it makes me giggle to think of the spectacle. :blushing: :laugh:0

Gained quite a lot of weight in my final year of high school, in which my belt buckle decided to burst open during a French class to the enjoyment of my best mate who readily informed the rest of the class and forced me to hitch up my pants and endure a walk of shame to the toilet!0

How many times has one of my skinny girlfriends tried to give me a pair of pants. These will fit you, they're hyoooooge on me! And I can't even get one leg in past the thigh. Oh god. Never again.0

one time my boyfriend tried to be cute and pick me up bride style. i could feel his whole body shaking under my weight, and he dropped me after a few seconds!
I have NEVER EVER allowed anyone to pick me up because of this. I could always feel their arms straining. And I NEVER sit in people's laps, either, for that same reason!
I've been there. Sometimes at work we have do rescue carries on each other and I find it absolutely humiliating  Most people assume that I'm less heavy than I actually am, and I'm genuinely afraid that some unsuspecting person is going to throw out their back :noway:
Anybody know a tactful way to get out of this?0 -

The one single time I was brave enough to wear shorts in high school. I was a sophmore, and had gone a year and a half too ashamed to wear shorts. Well I lost a few pounds and rewarded myself with some pretty dark green shorts(not booty shorts mind you, they were probably 6 inches from the inseam where most of my peers were in 3-4 inch ones).
I was 5'4'', 130 pounds. I thought they looked cute on me. The day was uneventful until about 4pm after school I started getting text messages from a blocked number calling me a piggy and "I bet you squeal like a piggy pulling your clothes on" "piggy wants to wear hollister shorts like a real girl?" etc for the next two days.
I didn't go to school the rest of the week(thursday and friday) and have never worn shorts out of my house again. I am about to graduate college. I can't even wear shorts to the gym.
ETA I live in Louisiana; it's not easy to avoid shorts when we have 6 months of 90-100 degree weather each year heh. I never found out who was texting me so I was afraid to talk to anyone.0 -
this was not even 6 mos ago. i was at my friends house and had bent down to play with his kids little drum set. i was squatting down and when i tried to get back up, i didnt have enough strength in my legs to haul my fat butt up. so instead, i toddled backwards and then landed on my butt, banging into a shredder which then banged into a piece of wood, which banged into the wall, breaking a huge hole in the wall. i was mortified! everyone was really nice about it, and of course everyone got a good laugh out of it, but i was dying inside.
funny now tho lol.0 -

oh, sweetie, that must've been awful. but i have to say, that was just some psycho. there's no reason to think you didn't look cute. ((hugs.)) hs can be a mean place.0 -
I had a friend that struggled with bulimia back in Jr. High. A year or two later, when she was recovering, she told me that part of what started it all was that she found out that we weighed the same. She hated the idea of looking like me.0

My little sister offering to try picking up my 6'1" boyfriend, but going "uhh......" when I asked if she could try lifting me. :P0

I understand that one. My husband convinced me to come out to the river one summer night, he was going to fish, and I brought a book. when we got close to where we were headed, for recent rains there was a huge waist deep area we needed to pass - my husband was wearing fishing waders, and said he would piggy back me through. I damn near killed him! The worst part was the look of worry on his face in realizing he would have to do the same on the way back!0 -
My mom and one of her friends took this little boy observation very well, at least on the surface. I'm sure it was pretty embarrassing, but it was also so darn cute and honest. My mom and her friend were significantly overweight, both especially carrying fat in the stomach area. My mom's 2 year old grandson was spending time with all of us on a vacation and upon entering the living room and not seeing the 2 women (they were in earshot - he just didn't see them), he innocently and descriptively asked, "Where are the "bellies"?0

When I was about 12 I walked into my brother's room to hang out with him and my cousin. My cousin demanded that I sing. I was confused and at first I didn't want to, but he convinced me to sing. After I sang he turned to my brother and said. Ok, it's over. It aint over until the fat lady sings."
Right after I graduated college I was riding my bicycle and a group of guys drove by me. One of them yelled out the window, "You're too fat to ride that bike!" I am 5'6" and I weighed 145lbs. I was down almost 40 lbs. from my highest weight and had felt really good about myself. It really deflated my newfound confidence.0 -
Ha Ha I have one of those moments every Tuesday night at Yoga ... it is definately a skinny chicks exercise but i LOVE it and will not give up.0
