Years ago I used a company gym and there was a guy with pierced nipples who would run shirtless on the treadmill. I found it painful just to look at him. They instituted a policy requiring that you wear a shirt when you work out. His answer to that was to put on a shirt and then roll it up behind his head so it covered only his shoulders and his back, leaving his chest bare again.

I suppose I could have complained, but he never bothered me, so I decided to let it go.

Ew! I would have kicked him in the face.
I havent had anyone creep on me like that, i mean sometimes people stare but oh well so do I. The weirdest thing that ever happened to me at the gym was some guy just comes strolling into the womens locker room. He acted surprised after a second when (I guess) he realizes that hes in the wrong locker room....then just laughs and walks out. Actually thats happened twice to me at planet fitness. Maybe they need to label the rooms better. Anyway, thank goodness neither myself or any other poor woman was naked or anything.

I've been stark naked at they Y and had a women INTENTIONALLY walk into the men's dressing room "to check on her son" and refuse to leave till she found he was in back showering. This is a common scenario.
I was a single father and raised a daughter. Had I done this in the women's locker looking for my daughter, I would have ended up spending a few months or years behind bars.

Usually I'm the pervy one. I like to watch the hot guys working out. Mmmmm.

Yeah, me too. I try to stay covert though.

Hahaha, you wouldn't believe that stuff that happens in the female locker room.

One time at my gym, I just got out of the shower and was walking back to my locker when I saw this older lady (maybe like 55-60) with one leg propped on the bench and a handheld mirror in her hand, plucking away at her vajayjay. I was permanently scarred.

Sometimes older people might not think they are being creepy and thought he was just treating you like a youngster! I kind of have this internal detector thing where I can tell when someone is actually trying to be a creep and when someone just doesn't know better and does not mean it in that way XD

I admit I would be creeped out but I agree that he probably considers himself so much older that you were like a kid to him. He probably didn't realize it was creepy till you said something so you did the right thing.

Nipple piercings and sweaty shirt rubbing while working out can be really irritating, especially if they are still healing. They can take 6mo to a year or more to heal depending on the person. Perhaps not as creepy as it may seem :).

As a whole, my gym (Planet Fitness) is pretty good. I was a little bothered when there were these two girls doing dips using the bench for low rows. There were lots of free benches available but they were just using the low row machine bench and alternating with another machine. I waited patiently doing another exercise but I found it a little annoyting when people use the bench for a machine weights when there are benches available.

Ah, I never thought of that. I just thought he was showing off!

You said it your self he is really old. He could either be loosing it mentally. He could be viewing you as a child and was just being silly. Or maybe going to the Gym is the only interaction with people he gets in a day and doesn't now how to relate with younger generations.

He joking touched your sneaker its not like he grabbed you *kitten*. I don't understand people sometimes. How about cutting a senior citizen some slack.

There are some real creepy pervs out there but this old guy doesn't sound like one of them.

WOAH... hold on, so I INTENTIONALLY was nice and held in the weights so he could walk by, so as to NOT hit the old guy. He stopped directly in front of me, preventing me from releasing the weights and potentially injuring myself, I had to ask him twice to move so I COULD release the weights without injuring him, and I am the one in the wrong for not cutting the old guy some slack when he completely innappropriately touched me??? And it wasn't just my sneaker, was the side of my foot and ankle. He touched flesh. But I am the one in the wrong? Wow, talk about someone having skewed perspective!

You older guys who are actually good people and not pervy -- don't take it personally. The thing is, women don't know when you are a great guy and when you are a perv because both start out the same way, and some women get so much negative attention that they'd rather have none at all than risk it.

My guess is that guy in the gym was seeing if he could push her boundaries; if he'd succeeded, he'd have gone on to push 'em a little farther at some point.

My daughter is 27 (looks 18 and is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds, cute as anything) and men in their 50s or older have blown kisses at her, touched or attempted to touch her, and said nasty things walking by...she's pretty upfront about giving them the finger or telling them what pervs they are. Not everyone is as assertive as she is, though. The thing is, she's friendly and doesn't let this get to her, but some guys think a smile or friendly chit-chat means they can cross the line. Shyer or unassertive women would rather just not deal with it AT ALL (that was me when I was young...now that I'm in my 50s, I'm invisible and LIKE it).

And if you think the gym is bad, working in a hospital is worse. I went to nursing school in my 40s and would often trade patients so the 18-20 year olds wouldn't have to deal with the pervy old guys who'd try to grab them or make obscene comments during a bed bath. Younger guys rarely ever pull crap like that in a hospital setting.

i honestly think some of the girls at my gym dont mind being looked at as long as its not leered at.

i pretty much have my blinders on when i am at the gym though yoga pants girl is always a nice site i tend to look straight ahead at the tv when doing cardio, close my eyes and listen to my music while doing cadio or find a point on the wall/floor to stare at when using weights/machine

When I was 19 I joined bally with 2 of my friends at the time and when we got to go together we would go into the weights section and do strength training. There were beefy guys that I thought LIVED there... they were ALWAYS there... and they would come up to us and make comments like "oh oh oh don't want to get TOO bulked up" and I was be like "it doesn't work like that GET AWAY FROM US" but my friends were desperate for any attention and would laugh and encourage them. I got really annoyed when they expanded the weight area even more for these dudes and cut the classroom space. I was so happy when I was out of that contract. It was a crappy small club that was too far away from my house and was packed full most times I went. I like my gym now a lot better.

This. Sorry normal guys, this is why I never smile at guys in public. Because for every couple normal guys who will just smile back, there are always creepers who take that as me now being totally open to all sorts of gratuitous comments.

I don't mind that men will be checking me out at various points in my life. Just prefer they try to get their looks in while I'm not noticing (or at least keep it brief, not an open-mouthed stare for a lengthy amount of time, jeez), and definitely don't say anything.

I had to kick out a guy once. He would strategically position himself acroos from our inner-thigh machine and be there most the time....just starring. I swear the next step was bringing binoculars.

If you don't know that machince, here it is. You get the idea.

THis machine was moved permanantly to the women's area of my gym and faces a wall with no walking space.

Hey, at least your creepy old guy can't follow you into the locker room, lol. There was a guy at my old gym who never seemed to leave the one bench in the locker room that had the best view of the room and shower area.

From the other side, , , it's pretty disheartening to see women freeze like a deer in the headlights when they accidently make eye contact with you. Get this freaky, "Oh, God. He looked at me. I need a shower." expression on their face. I'm 54 years old, extroverted, happily married & WELL AWARE that I have no chance with you, even if I wanted to. So what say we can actually make eye contact, have casual greetings or even a brief discourse without you thinking I'm a PERV? Hmmmm?

dude there is a slight difference between making eye contact and going up to some chick and tickling her feet while saying giggite giggite goo goo ....i mean come on...

In commercial gyms, old men drying themselves in the locker room, in the middle of the route between showers/toilets and main room, one foot on a central seating section, taking at least 15-20 mins to dry each ball.

    Why? Really, why?

Oh my gawd. Wtf people. It's called a public bathroom bc. It's used by everyone not for people to landscape their goodies. Yuck!

The Old lady read the sign wrong and thought it was a pubic bathroom.

Even if he didn't mean it in that way, he needs to know that he crossed a line. It obviously was completely inappropriate and if he isn't a creeper then he needs to learn some gym manners.

First off, I love the machine you posted. In my gym it also faces the wall, thank god.

And as the OP of those thread, just want to point out, I am an overweight 35 year old woman. Its not like I'm some young thin hot chick.... I don't get hit on by guys at the gym. And I certainly don't need to be gitchee gitchee goo'd...especially not while on a weight machine!
