Thanks for all the responses so far!
LA/Anaheim/San Diego is pretty much all planned. Left 1 day spare in San Diego in case I decided to see the Zoo and Safari Park which I think I will def do!

Vegas will be all about stand-up comedy, partying, shopping and casinos. Has anyone been to any certain casinos or nightclubs that you highly recommend? I will be staying on the strip, any1 wanna come party with me n show me around is more than welcome to stay the night as I have wherever I book all to myself. My cuz n his gf will be staying somewhere close by.

NY I will def visit places like Times Square (will be staying 2-3 blocks away), Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty etc. anyone know what the status of Jersey Shore is? Really want to see the place and check out clubs such as Karma that I see on MTV's "Jersey Shore". Met Mike 'Situation' and Pauly D when they came to Aust. (I do security/bouncer/bodyguard work so was on the job when I met them).

Miami will mostly be relaxing, shopping and seeing whatever sites are there. I have 2 days free there so any suggestions on what tourist attractions are in Miami would be great! Most of 28th and 29th will be taken up by bros bodybuilding comp.

    So I need suggestions for:
2 nights in Vegas (Days I will do tour type things like Grand Canyon n Hoover Dam)
2-3 days in NY (other than the obvious attractions I mentioned)
    2 days in Miami

Thanks again, y'all are much appreciated!

The San Diego Zoo is definitely worth it! I've been once and loved it. Don't make the mistake of wearing flip-flops lol like I did. It's major walking and lots of hills

What have I missed that HAS TO BE SEEN in USA?!!
Um, you forgot to check out the corn fields of Indiana. Geez, they are epic and they have their own children.

I love those corn fields...makes for a great drive to Chicago....

Bo, you need to go out to the Smokey mountains out on the Tennessee/North Carolina boarder. Rent a Harley Davidson for a day, and just take in the beauty. Everyone that goes on a vacation to another country usually wants to go to the tourist traps, but I highly recommend against doing that. There is so much hidden beauty in everybody's country to get all tangled up in the "norm" Just a suggestion for ya ;)

I was about to say something similar. The TN/NC border is amazing, lots of parks (like Great Smoky Mountains National Park) and outdoor activities if that's something you like.

The Grand Canyon National Park is located in the northwestern corner of the state of Arizona in Coconino County, and the Redwood forest in Northern California!

Hahaha, I drove from Charlotte, NC where I live, to Des Moines, Iowa one summer. Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, it was like one long never-ending cornfield the entire way....

What have I missed that HAS TO BE SEEN in USA?!!

ummmm....THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS!!!! nuff said

Haha Texas. Yeah, Texas is cool. Houston has the Menil, NASA and New Orleans is a drive a way!

But don't go to Dallas, the only thing worth seeing there is the Kimball museum designed by Louis Kahn and the Museum of Modern Art designed by Tadao Ando, just the most amazing Architect ever.

How far is Texas from whichever place Im going to that is the closest? I have relatives in Texas so should prob stop by if possible. Would love to see New Orleans.
Ill be straight up tho so that I dont waste anyones time replying on here, I aint the museum or art type just yet so wont be visiting any of them. Obviously I wanna see certain landmarks such as Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square, etc but rest of the time will be shopping, action packed adventure, casinos, partying and living each day like I may not see the next!

(Hmmmm I can tell now my liver is going to hate me!! Anyone living in areas I am visiting keen on catching up for some cardio hit me up n keep me motivated while on holiday lol)

Louisiana is the best! Cajun Culture and Family and thats all you need. You're just in time for crawfish season too! lol

The Hoover dam recommendation literally blows my mind. I consider it to be a huge inconvenience on my way to Vegas.

I would recommend the grand canyon though.

    2 pieces of advice:

    1) whatever you do stay clear of Detroit
    2) Ive been on carnival cruise line and they are nice ships, dont let that chaos a little while ago affect you. If you havent booked yet, try royal carribean as a cruise line tho, better food, nicer ships!

Another question: i noticed the flights I was looking at with Spirit Airlines charge $30 for luggage and only allow 18kg. Who else would u guys recommend? Thinkin I should drive to Vegas from San Diego seeing as there are 3 of us!

Cruise already booked as its the only 1 that fits in with timing in Miami.

In regards to Accommodation are there many 2 bedroom places in Anaheim and San Diego that are not too pricey or 1 bedroom with seperate living area that has a sofabed? Not keen on the 2 beds in 1 room idea. Rather have privacy for my daughter and I than share a room with my cousin n his gf.

Does the Zoo take an entire day or can it be done quicker to fit in more site-seeing in San Diego?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions everyone :)

Besides Gr. Canyon (big...take a little hike down into it and "it gets bigger"), I'd suggest Bryce Canyon (beautiful rock color and formations). Personally, I like it better.

When you're in Key West just go bar to bar on Duvall street. If you want some great food, go to El Meson de Pepe. Best Cuban food around. It's right down next to where the cruise ships let off. Captain Tony's is a great bar. Schooner's Wharf also rocks. Then there's Sloppy Joe's. It's a staple, but a little touristy. There's no shortage of places to drink there, and the best thing is you can carry your drink with you around town.

About Los Angeles: I am not sure it would be useful to do three adventure parks in three days.

If I was you, I would drive around and get lost in the different neighbourhoods. Pasadena, Bel Air, Santa Monica ect. Or you could go to Santa Barbara which is further away but charming.

Can someone pls tell me if i can fit Universal Studio and the LA Hop on-Hop off Tour in 1 day.

You could if you do Universal first thing in the morning. I went as soon as it opened (around 8am I think) and was out of there at 1pm. First, it will get very crowded. make sure you do the tram tour before anything else because this will get busy!

Completely agree with this, I liked Bryce Canyon much better. I also agree with the recommendation for San Francisco... it is a beautiful city... looks like you may just need to stay a month and see everything :)
  • When you are in NYC, head to times square and find the TKTS kiosk--half price broadway show tickets for day-of performances. OH, and pick up some cupcakes from Crumbs.

I recommend a day trip to Philadelphia too--bolt bus tickets are pretty cheap. lots of great museums in both places too. You have to get cheesesteaks in Philly. Also there are some great Eastern PA local theme parks--nothing on the scale of Disney, but Dorney park has great coasters, and Hershey park is all about CHOCOLATE. seriously. you can tour the factory and everything.

No, crumbs sucks. Go to Magnolia for cupcakes.
(but I'm serious, crumbs is no good)

Doing a theme park a day from 10-14 as these are the dates Ill be in the area and have my daughter! She goes to Cancun with my parents on the 15th for a week while I get my party on in Vegas. I now arrive on the 9th instead of the 10th so I will spend that day with my parents and daughter exploring LA and its surroundings prior to my cousin and his gf arriving on the 10th.

I think that most people have covered NYC.

As for the shore, it is kind of a wreck, but they are rebuilding quickly to be ready for the summer. By late May things may be very different. If you can travel a little further south, the shore is in much better shape. Places like Atlantic City, Avalon, and Wildwood are definitely in business.

I do second the gentleman that suggested you rent a bike and ride through the Smokey Mountains (or just drive up and go on a hike or two). I recognize this is a large stretch, but they are beautiful and May would be great weather.

@witchblade612: You are more than welcome to join in the fun haha!

@blably: Im sure Europe cant be that bad! I plan on visiting there year after next! (next yr is Brazil for soccer worldcup!)

@mbk830: Yeah I think I'll give the shore a miss, only really wanted to go there as I am/was addicted to the MTV series of Jersy Shore lol.
As for mountains and scenery goes, I'm not sure if you have ever been to Australia but we have A LOT of amazing scenery here including mountain ranges that extend nearly the entire east coast of Australia and a coral reef that is just as long! (google "the great dividing range" and "the great barrier reef")
  • Arizona! You've got to see redrock country.

OK I have all of LA, Anaheim, San Diego and Vegas covered :)
I will be in NY from 20-25th June. In which time I will go to all the usual sites. Do you guys recommend the New York Pass? I'll also make sure to attend the Yankees game on the 20th, cant go to NY and not see a Yankees game! Even have my NYY hat ready hahaha.
Now I need some help. I would like to go from NY to Niagara Falls to Washington DC on a tour but can only find return tours that leave NY and return to NY. I have noticed it is cheaper to fly from Washington DC to Miami than NY to Miami and I dont see the point in returning to NY just to fly out to Miami. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thankyou all in advance.

Once you hit NY, you are on the east coast. Assuming that you are going to be flying out of NY or Miami back home, I would suggest renting a car.
The drive from New York City to Niagara is about a half a day drive but, it is a beautiful drive.
The drive from Niagara to Miami is obviously a bit longer.
It is about a full days drive assuming you don't stop at all (and obviously drive in shifts) but, it really is a two day drive. Again, the drive is in some of the prettiest scenes that this country has to offer.
(I made this same drive in October). West Virginia is breathtaking.
Once you hit Miami, you will appreaciate having a car since public transportation sucks in Florida.

Thanks for your input...I will def suggest that to the others as there are 8 of us in total (7 adults and 1 child) so we may aswell get a mini van or something. Prob work out more cost efficient aswell!
Def want to see Niagara Falls and Washington DC between leaving NYC and arriving in MIA
