Why would you add a friend?

Honestly? Unless the message sent with the request is majorly creepy, I add everyone that requests me
..the more the merrier. Who COULDN'T use more friends?
Remember you said that when you have >500 friends and can't keep up with your wall.0 -
I rarely send out friend requests. Usually someone has to strike me as particularly awesome to do so. I think I've actually sent maybe...5-7 total?
Receiving them, I'm down for whomever most of the time. But I also cut my list regularly, at least once per week, because I don't like keeping around people that I don't actually interact with.0 -
I add people because of similar goals, or if they're funny and a few just because they're hot I usually accept any, so that's why I have a bunch of creepy guys as friends...kidding...
To be fair, you added me, so any ensuing creepiness was your fault.0 -

Happy to be a creeper
lol
I add friends because in real life, I have no friends at all and this way I can satisfy my subconscious that I have people who care about me! hahahahahahaha
Oh and because everybody, no matter what their situation, has an interesting story to tell and I like hearing them!0 -

^has quite the harem^
I send requests to people that seem smart, snarky, nerdy, or otherwise offbeat. I'm wierd, and like wierd people. (And at least one Whierd person...)
I don't get many requests, and remove people who don't log in for a week, so my list is short. I'd accept requests from pretty much anyone as long as they are not religious and don't butcher the English language.0 -

Dudes have to be funny or else I don't add them.

I think there are five people on my friend's list that I sent requests. Most of them received the request because I saw some sort of kind, helpful reply on the boards.
Yesterday, I culled a few MFP acquaintances from my list, mostly those who ate less than 999 calories or those who continuously go MIA for days at a time. Then, I put up the following note on my profile:
"At this time, I am only adding new friends who practice "Eat More to Weigh Less" / "In Place of a Roadmap" eating OR those who are/were very out of shape and now looking to improve their fitness through whatever bit of exercise they are able to do. Bonus points if you fit into one of the above categories and are in the 50+ crowd."
While I do enjoy reading the banter on these pages when I get bored, but I'm not here for fun or games. I want and need to get healthy. Therefore, I'd prefer to use my MFP "friend" time to encourage those who are encouraging me. To do this well, I need to keep my friend list small.0 -
I add the people who are either really silly or seem to be really good (nice) people on the boards. Or who, in whatever way, their dedication to their health is obvious.0

I'm on N8's team! Yay me! And that's why I'm friends with him - he thinks he's funny.0 -

I added someone because her profile pic looked exactly like mine (and she was hot). It doesn't take much.0
