You think math, physics and computer programming aren't "very useful"? Seriously?

They're useful, people just don't CARE about it.

A cell phone is useful. The math and programming that goes into it is BORING to them, and only useful to the people who do that stuff.

And I say this as person who earns his living from this stuff. I know what I do is only of interest to me.

I agree with what you have said. I just disagreed with her saying they aren't useful.

My fav nerd was out eons ago. Stopped watching because Danielle annoys the ever-loving crap out of me

I get saddened when any of those people are called nerds. How that word has been ruined. I shall need to find a new word to call myself. I suppose Geek will have to suffice.

See, to me, only half of these folks are nerds. Nasa Scientist = Nerd. A guy that reads text books for fun = Nerd.

Now Ivan...Ivan is a geek. The girl that lost to Genevieve in the comic book contest (can't remember her name) .. .she was a geek and so is Danielle.

I read textbooks for fun. That guy just said it for TV.
Nasa Scientist - you wouldn't believe how many engineers they have just doing data entry

How are you differentiating geek and nerd?

How the hell would you know? Just because you see someone on a TV show doesn't mean you know them.

Of course, this is just personally how I see it, but...

Nerd = highly educated in one of the computer (particularly programming), scientificic, or mathematical fields to the point that they tend to lose others when the subject and because of their studies and obsession with said field...they tend to lose social skills.

Geek = Highly focused on the obscure and fantastic. Now-a-days, everyone know Harry Potter, but a Harry Potter Geek can tell you Dumbldore's full name...and it's four or five words long. This often has the same affect on losing some social skills.

Often, neither one eally lack the social skills, it's just that normal stuff is boring as f*** to us.
