I walked on my break today again and I got in 2 glasses of water. I'm trying. I was watching my food well and doing a good job until my boss brought back those little wrap sandwiches you get a costco...well I blew it there. I love those things. Scales still say I am down a bit so we will see come Friday at weigh in.

I can't stand those things lol.. I don't know, something about the spread inside makes my tummy twirl... LOL...

So far so good on this "fresh start"... It's hard to believe that it's been over a year since I met some of you..

I look at my ticker and I see 0 lbs lost and it makes me kinda sad.. But I know that last year when I started I was 230... Right now 209 so I did lose.. But at my lowest last year I was in the 180's... SO I gained "Ugh".. Oh well.. I did keep some off right?? It's so hard to change that emotional eating thing.. But Clint is home for a while and I don't know if he will go back to Texas again or not, and I'm not working for that major *kitten* anymore so a lot of my stress should be resting now!!! Maybe no more emotional eating for me.. Yea right!!!!

I got in 30 mins of aerobics and burned 406 calories.. Ate my breakfast and I'm ready to go...

Have a great day everyone and drink drink drink that water....

.... AND..... I bought a new water bottle which has helped me drink ALL 8 glasses plus some (yes you read that right!) of my water!! I figured out that my water has to be COLD and I MUST have a straw...or I wont drink it all... LOL Funny ehh?? Who knew it was that easy... :drinker:

I am exactly the same way!! I love my water ice cold and through a straw! Who knew?

Glad to be in the Water Straw group!

Hey ladies. I have been looking for a group to join for a few weeks and this is the first one I have come across that has encouraged new members joining right in the post. Thank you for that. Anyways I would like to join. I already weigh in on Fridays so this fits in well. I started a couple months ago on this journey was doing really well for the first week and a half and I don't know what happened but just quit on myself. The first week I lost 11 lbs. The second I started weighing myself daily and started seeing a gain. I don't know if I got scared, disappointed or what but it caused me to quit. In the almost two months I avoided things I did gain back 3 lbs but lost them again last week. Tomorrow is weigh in again and I'm hoping things are still going south. I decided after last time that I would not jump on the scale more than once a week just to avoid the variation in weight that can occur when peeking daily. So I finally got myself back on track almost two I have had one night of whoops and a couple added snacks but over all im doing much better and jump right back on track when that happens instead of just throwing it all out the window.

Anyways, i'm in this for the long haul and could really use some support. I am a SAHM with 3 kids. A 13 year old, a 4 year old, and a 2 year old. I am really trying to change my life and redefine who I am, or maybe it could even be discovering who I am, I don't know yet. I started at 261.5 lbs and as of last friday was 251.5 (I am 5'2). I have a long ways to go as my goal is 125. A weight I have never been ever in my life (well I'm sure I hit it at some point in my childhood, but you get the picture) I have always been overweight to some degree although as a teenager and as a young adult I was very active. I have not yet added a consistent exercise routine in but am working on finding a gym that will work for me. Kinda somewhat scared for various reasons but I will do it. Ok, I just noticed this is getting kinda long so I will stop it here. I'm just glad to be here and look forward to getting to know you all.
  • Wow - we have alot of similarities. I was 262.4 - the heaviest I've ever been - last week when starting MFP. I lost 2.4lbs. Yeah!

I agree with all your reasons for wanting to lose. Tired of being tired, and having every movement be a chore. Love being active with my 8yr old and husband but feel myself falling way behind and unable to do things they can do. (Or fit places where they fit. IE: afraid my butt and gut won't allow the bar to close on amusement rides, etc.) I have been struggling with weight all my life but was recently getting terrified to see myself go over 250 which I had been maintaining anyway, to keep shooting up so quickly. I knew I had to do it for real this time. And, I know what you mean about clothes! I hate what I already have, but hate shopping more. I also am a SAHM but also work from home. I think that makes it so much harder sometimes. Always having access to food.
Anyway, just wanted you to feel welcome and know you are not alone. If you want to do the 'friend thing' I'm good with that. (I'm still learning about that!). We may have alot to lose but we have SO MUCH more to gain.

Oh, and not to rain on the parade but I sucked today. I was always hungry, went over my calories, and didn't exercise. Hoping I may still have the energy tonight when my husband gets home. Maybe a bike ride. My behind looks very attractive hanging over the sides...which is why I will wait til it's dark out!

so i have a general group question that happened to pop in my head while i was in the kitchen....
I make my own salsa...how would i determine calories for it?
    here's what i put in:
Jalapenos, cilantro, onion (the kind that looks like really thick grass can never r'member what they are called),garlic, avocado, tomato, and lime the only "flavor" item i add to it is salt...so since i would really like to eat some (and i mean...it can't be bad...its a bunch of veggies! ) how would i put this in my food journal?!?

Ragarza- Do a google search for a Nutritional Calculator and enter your ingredients to determine the calories. I believe Caloriecount.com has a free one. I use it often to calculate stuff since Im an avid baker and cook.

Its just wierd how time has flown by Nitag!!

Kimm~ Welcome! Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. :0) I look forward to getting to know you better over time!

Ive been with this particular group since it started in January 2009. I started at 252.4 and lost 40lbs in 6 months then hit a plateau at 212 and got really frustrated that I couldnt drop more. I decided to just work on maintaining, then sorta just fell off the wagon over the holidays with all the baked goodies and since I wasnt working out as much I gained 10 of it back. For anyone who is struggling wondering if they can do it... YOU CAN! It wont happen tomorrow and you will have good days and bad days, but as long as you KEEP GOING you can and will reach your goals. Do a YOU turn (and get back on track) when you think you have slipped up.

So I am in 7th heaven. I decided to treat myself to a much needed day off today from the hectic schedule of life. Its an off day from my workout program so I went and hung out with a good friend today. We played monopoly on the wii and Another friend of ours came and gave massages and now I feel great!!! She worked on my hip flexor muscles, glutes and hamstrings and really got them to loosen up. Now my hips are swingin freeeeeeeeeee!! !! I am sooooooo looking forward to tomorrows wogging at the gym just to see how different it is. She also gave me some good tips on how to stretch my hips out better before and after I wog.

I drank allllll my water again today and was right on target for my calorie goal today. I am looking forward to tomorrows weigh in. Even if there is no change on the scale, I feel better than I did a week ago since I am eating better, working out again and getting in all my water in.

PS... I still have the smallest bladder in the world.....:laugh:

I hit my heaviest weight ever last year in March at 273lb. I was so ashamed looking at myelf in my daughters wedding pictures. I started here in June and lost to 239 by Sept 1 and then I went to Vegas on vacation!! I did well on vacation but when I got home I never got back into logging and I just gave up. I gained back to 255 and then decided I needed to get back on track. I bounce back and forth between 245 and 255. When I decided to start coming back to post notes I had gotten back to 245.5 That was last week when I started my ticker over. I didn't go back to 0 I decided to set a goal of 225 by my sons wedding in July. So I set my ticket to how many lbs to go. So I started at 21 lbs to go and I want to watch it go down!

I only drank 1 glass of water today but I walked a mile around the track tonight. I didn't walk on my break today because I was getting a massage on my break. My boss brought in a gal to give us massages on Thursdays. We pay $15 for 15 minutes. She has been coming to the pharmacy for over 2 yrs now. I love having a massage at work. I think it is a nice perk!

Welcome new ones, hope you enjoy us enough to keep coming.

Tomorrow is the day I go to the fibromyalgia specialist. I hope I find something to help me so I can do more and lose faster. I know that losing weight will help with the pain, but if I am in too much pain I don't feel like doing anything and the weight doesn't come off. Visious cycle.

See you all tomorrow for weigh in. Good luck everyone!!

Bee, I think setting small goals is a wonderful idea. Thats why I set my ticker to zero. My dr told me to get to 200 and see how I feel. Since Im 6' tall and she said that when I was at the 212 mark and I dont think shes that far off. If I want to keep going from there I will but I figure I know what my starting weight was last year so I will know how much total I have lost. Its just easier for me to work with smaller goals to reach that ultimate goal than it is to look at a bigger number. It keep me motivated knowing the goal is realistic. :0) Im aiming for my 37th Birthday in August. I have my 20th high school reunion coming up too, so thats a big motivator as well.. LOL

Happy Friday Everyone!!! Well, I gained 1.5 pounds this week, but my clothes feel a tiny bit loose??? Weird, I suspect it has something to do with my late night snack of 100 micro popcorn, perhaps the salt? I knew eating that was not the best idea but MUCH better than a late night binge of cookies so honeslty I don't feel all that bad about it. I have exercised alot this week and was not too much over my calorie goal, which for me is very good. I know you all don't know me that well, but my goal first is to NOT binge which is a problem for me and it has been 9 days since I have. Have a great Friday everyone!!!!!

    Happy Friday all!

Great job juledes!! No binging for 9 days is wonderful. I am proud of you. Yes you may have gained from the salt but you could have gained from muscle too if you are excercising. The excercising my be losing inches but you gained a little in muscle and that is ok because it will even out in a week or two and you will suddenly drop a few pounds. Be encouraged!

Cyndi (losingit4good), I am doing the count down to the wedding then I will change my ticker back to how many pounds lost for encouragement because that will be at 53lbs and that will be exciting! Any word on if we can spend Wedneday together? I sure hope so because if we can't my next plan is to drown my sorrow at the casino and when you are unhappy at the casino you blow too much money and you lose LOL. Help me to not go broke!

Have a great Friday all and good luck on your weight loss. If you've gained don't be dicouraged there is always next week!! We all fall short from time to time, but it's not how far we fall, but how fast we get back up!

You are so right, we all have our days that we just want to quit, but who are we quitting on? Ourselves. That isn't good. When we start to think that way, we need to stop and think about why we feel that way. Also, we need to remember why we are here in the first place. To lose weight and feel better about ourselves. Don't give up on yourself. You are all you have.

Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday. I hope all is well for you today. I completely understand the small bladder. LOL

I know it is my own fault and I am taking charge today. It is time for me to stop hiding behind my excuses. I decided to eat a few things this week that were not on the plan and I am very disappointed in myself for it. No more excuses. I now have 13.6 pounds to lose and I am tired of this dam yo-yo that I am on. NO MORE!!! I will keep myself busy this weekend in order to keep me from eating unhealthy foods. I can do this and will do this!!! Other than that I had a great week. LOL

Have a beautiful weekend everyone.

I did look at a couple gyms and it's finally getting warm here and has stopped raining so for today I think I will go for a walk. I will pick a gym by the end of the weekend...I think :P

I was looking at the quote thing...do you think it might be an idea to have on there last weeks weight so we can see how people are progressing weekly? Just an idea.

Also, thank you all for the warm welcomes. I look forward to getting to know you all and hearing your stories and how things are going for you.

WOW!!! Look at these numbers!!! You ladies ROCK!!! Congratulations on your nice losses!!! Happy dances for you all!!!

There is no way I gained 2.5lbs of fat this week. THAT I know of for sure! Its not possible with the way I worked out and the way I ate, so Im just chalking it up to water weight. The first day I was able to get all my water in was Wednesday and I didnt really go that much. Then yesterday after my 2nd full bottle and the massage, It hit and suddenly I had the worlds smallest bladder. So, I'll see what it says again in a couple days after my body gets used to drinking this much water again. I am disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing the drop, but Im not letting it kill my motivation. It is what it is and all I can do is keep working at it!

On a brighter note... I get to use hubbys bodybug since he hasnt used it for a while! yay!! That should give me a good idea of just how many calories everyday Im burning doing various things. So that I am excited about.

Im headed out the door to get my wogging in before the little ones get here!

    Happy Friday everyone!!

Grrr, no lose this week. It's alittle frustrating, but I had a big family dinner last weekend and ate too much, as always. Plus school is really stressful right now with exams, so makes sense I guess. I'm going to try to get more exercise this week and start doing yoga again. 4 lbs is fantastic, keep up the great work.

I want to invite you to take a look at my website and look at the programs that Beachbody.com has to offer. I just hate to see good people waste their money on a gym, when you can be working out in the privacy of your own home. Losingit4good-I have to say I love your verbage for Jog/walk. That is what I call it, but I hope you don't mind, I am going to start using wogging. It makes total sense. I hope you had a good wog today. Don't let the gain get to you. We all have those weeks. Next week will be better. Have a beautiful weekend.

I dont mind at all... .. I started calling it wogging last year and it kinda stuck. There are a few of us in the group that like to wog, so we all know what it means if you say you went "wogging" lol My wog today went GREAT! I feel so, so, so much better and my back is much better and not stiff at all.

I would highly recommend to ANYONE that is starting out on an exercise regime to plan in a massage as a treat at the end of the first week! It realllly helps to relax and sooth over those muscles that are throwing tantrums about being worked over. Have your therapist focus on helping you stretch and relax the areas that are sore....Its a nice way to reward yourself without food!
