Petite Women 4'10"-5'3"... what's your hip and waist size?

petitegreekpetitegreek Member Posts: 144 Member Member Posts: 144 Member
I am 4'10" and currently 159.6 lbs. I measured my waist and hips tonight and I feel like they're both abnormally huge. I think I measured right...

Waist: 40 inches
Hips: 44 inches

Anyone have methods for reducing waist and hip sizes? I could use any suggestions!

You shouldn't directly compare yourself with others, as everyone holds their weight differently. I am 5 foot and weigh 108 pounds. From memory my hips are 89 cm and waist is 63cm.

You can't spot reduce body fat, meaning the only way to decrease your measurements is to eat right and exercise with a combo of both strength training and cardio, but mostly cardio. Like I said, you can't choose where the fat comes off, your body determines that.

EDIT: Hips: 35 inches Waist: 24inches

    Uh, I am 183 and a pear and 5'3. Hips 45 1/2 and waist 34.

I agree with others that you can't spot reduce. Jogging has helped and also squats and lunges. I will say that your thighs and hips will look bigger if you aren't controlling your diet and losing weight. For waist, crunches and planks. After a week of not doing that, everything falls apart and my waist jumps to 39. Sounds crazy, but I have to do ab work EVERYDAY or else, things fall apart, lol

4'11, 120ish lbs. waist is around 28.5 inches, hips are 37 inches and that puts me in a size 5/6 most of the time. I'm very top heavy, about 38 inches around the bust, just got fitted as size 30G! Just hoping to lose more off my waist to have a super sweet hourglass shape.

5'2.5" in height, my waist at the smallest part is 30.5, below navel 33. My hips are 41.5. I've been doing Zumba at home on the Wii and it helps alot with weight loss. I've lost 13 lbs so far, and about 4 inches all over, so as you lose weight the inches will come down too!!!

    height: 5'1"
    weight: 115-120ish lbs
    waist: 26.5 inches
    hips: 33.25 inches

I'm pretty much at goal right now, I think. I'd like to see a lower number on the scale but frankly I'm fitting into all my old pants (my original goal) despite being about 10 lbs heavier than before. My body fat is about 19%

I'm 5'1", 60 years old.... 113 pounds. My hips are 36 inches and my waist...... 31 inches. I've always been thick in the middle no matter what weight I am. The smallest adult waist measurement I've ever had was when I was 30 years old... it was 29" and I weighed around 105 pounds and looked like death. If you were to attend one of my family reunions you'd find every one of my aunts and female cousins is shaped like I am... some things are just plain in the genes. I don't stress over it anymore. It's me and I'm the best me I can be!

You don't need to know anyone else's measurements. You're here to improve your health, and that is the thing that matters.

    Thanks everyone!

I measured my hips where my butt looks biggest (in the middle). For my waist, I measured just above my belly button and around the biggest part and they were both about the same. Did I measure right??
